1292737 tn?1272559251 I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I just joined the medhelp website last night as both my husband and I have decided that we want to get back into shape. I'm 25 5'9" and 230lbs.....not my happiest moment. Anyhow, I just want to thank you all in advance for the support and encouragement. I'm being optimistic that I will stick with my exercise and eating plans. I'm going to be using "The Firm" workout DVDs and weights and can hardly wait.
Avatar f tn Keep weight lifting. Do your normal routines. As your stomach gets bigger do different variations of the workouts so that they're not too high impact. Exercising while pregnant is amazing. And will keep you fit for labor. Though if you are watching your calories for weight loss, when you get a confirmed pregnancy test, I'd stop that. Instead just continue to eat healthy. Small portions, not too much sugar, tons of fruits and veggies, whole wheat, etc.
Avatar f tn s not uncommon to lose inches and not lose weight, especially in early stages of a weight loss routine. When you lose weight you will most often experience a loss of inches. The loss of weight and inches is determined by your body composition. An increase in muscle mass will shrink the body, but it takes more fat to equal a pound of muscle.
Avatar f tn Make sure to keep your body adequately hydrated. Also a healthy weight loss should be aimed gradually. With steady and ‘healthy’ efforts you should be back on the tract of losing weight soon. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar f tn s my spiel! What are your thoughts? It is the basis for my Weight Loss Challenge that hubby and I created, which Renae has asked me to share. Will share on another post, though, so it's easy to find.
Avatar m tn There are many routines that will work, most likely, not just one. If you use a gym weight machines have one benefit, in that they are calibrated to give you proper technique and show you right on the machine usually what muscles they're working. If you want to do free weights, can you afford a couple of sessions with a personal trainer? Or just watch the folks with the best definition where you're looking for it and ask them their routines.
Avatar f tn If you're doing a lot of weight-training, then you've obviously put on muscle. It weighs a whole lot more than fat, so even though you're working out and LOSING FAT, you're not losing the WEIGHT because you've upped your muscle percentage. This is healthy, and muscle burns calories even at rest, so you've increased your metabolic rate (which is good!).
Avatar n tn Ok, there are tons of questions relating to weight loss, but I'm asking anyway as I want specifics for myself. I am 5'3" and weigh 170. I've been eating clean 95% of the time, counting calories (daily is 1200 average) and exercising more than the norm. I did drop from 182 in about 4 wks, but now, 8 wks in to the active working out and eating well, can't seem to budge the scale. I read conflicting things about amount of calories, over doing exercise, etc. It's confusing.
Avatar f tn My starter weight before I got pregnant was 118 and dropped to 115. Then I moved back home and my weight went up to 125 and now I'm 133. I did not like the fact I was gaining weight so fast and that I just lay around the house as well..so today I started doing more workouts that way I can be fit and have a easy labor. Hopefully I dont gain a lot of now. I just want a fit and healthy pregnancy. And specific workout routines you ladies do.?
Panda try more advanced workouts. you'll see progress soon, just keep on doing it and eat healthy!
Avatar f tn Self acceptance, focused workouts and eating enough of the right foods will get you there! Some good foods for weight loss are sardines, salmon, avocado, coconut oil and power greens. Good luck!
Avatar f tn No, I don't say don't try anything, but I also don't presume to be able to tell someone what's best for them because I've seen so many "proven" routines fail over time. I've come to believe that we all just do the best we can and hopefully what we choose won't come around to haunt us a few years down the road. I'm always, therefore, suspicious of the latest fads, but suspicious isn't the same as saying don't try them.
Avatar f tn Its good you've set a goal and are looking to find out how to achieve it! However losing 15 pounds in a month is unrealistic and unhealthy. Did you know it takes about a year for your body to adjust to losing 10 pounds? It's important to remember weight loss is a marathon and not a sprint. In order to lose weight and keep it off, you shouldn't look at it as weight loss but a way to become healthier!
Avatar n tn Hello all, I have noticed recently, during my weightlifting routines at the gym, that I will occasionally get a fluttering sensation in my heart that lasts about 10 to 15 seconds and occurs randomly while lifting weights or doing abdominal exercises, but oddly enough never during cardio workouts such as running or swimming (chance?). These "flutters" are quite worrisome, as I feel as if my heart may not recover it's consistent beat sometimes.
Avatar m tn Also last week i started working out a lot (mostly situps and leg workout and i feel my muscules are sore). Moreover, i have not been eating as much as i usually do and i lost some weight because of stress...so could my pain be connected to the workouts and stress? or did something happen during oral sex (i mean could i be pregnant or is something else going on)??
Avatar m tn I am 28 yr old lean, underweight guy and the main purpose of joining the club is to increase my body weight and get toned. This was my first ever experience of weight training exercises and on the first day I tried almost everything I could, on my own, since no instructor was present that day. It was alright until I did a round of "Sit Ups" when I experienced a sudden sharp pain somewhere between my neck and right shoulder. I didn't go to gym on the next day.
Avatar f tn Various body locations such as the chest, biceps and thighs are indicators of size gains. For weight loss, use a scale and record your weight. Measure your progress every four to six weeks to assess the effectiveness of your workout plan. Performing a warm-up before your actual workout can lessen the effects of DOMS (Delayed onset muscle soreness) Do a warm-up consists of using larger muscle groups through activities such as running or calisthenics.
Avatar f tn m not busy. I have a little boy who gives me little time to get any exercise. Im not exactly over weight but my stomach is still quite 'flabby' and always looks bloated. Any suggestions of smart exercises which I could do during my sons naps etc or even with him? Wanting calorie business and toning please!
Avatar f tn re already active it is fine to keep doing your regular workouts.. just monitor your heart rate, try not to get above 150. I asked her if boot camp classes and spin is still okay (by two favorite) she said as long and I'm monitoring I can do whatever I feel like as long as it is safe and I am not over heating (no more kick boxing).
Avatar f tn I walk ten miles onece a week to work and about 2-4 miles e/o day! I have been doing this for almost a month now and have only lost ten lbs..
10028419 tn?1416841704 My doctor told me I could continue my regular work out routines just don't stress my body with extra weight and don't lay on my back now that i'm in my third trimester.
8186495 tn?1396915293 Can MS be contributing to lack of weight loss?
Avatar n tn I appreciate your imput greatly! I do 3 days of weight training and one day of cardio... Interesting point about lack of appetite with Lipitor as I think that was a part of my problem before Nutrisystem. I do have one question... can you define "natural" weight loss??? to me its defined as the delicate balance between calorie reduction and calorie intake as well as balancing exercise routines. all three facets must be balanced in order to achieve a healthy weight loss.
