1521103 tn?1291102071 Hi, doing heavy weightlifting in the gym especially against the gravity when you are in standing position affect the longitudinal growth of your bones. In my opinion weightlifting while you are on a bench would not produce this effect. For better consultation you may approach your gym instructor.
1292438 tn?1276120904 Hi, loosing belly fat and making good abs can be a difficult job at times. Follow a few tips to start losing belly fat but it would not be a faster phenomenon. Major factors contributing to belly fat are overeating, no exercise, lack of balanced diet. Serving sizes bigger than required/ eating without being hungry/ snacking while watching movies, TV. You have two each small sized servings more frequently a day as compared to large servings few times a day.
Avatar m tn There are no best workouts. Every bodybuilder has a theory. There are many routines that will work, most likely, not just one. If you use a gym weight machines have one benefit, in that they are calibrated to give you proper technique and show you right on the machine usually what muscles they're working. If you want to do free weights, can you afford a couple of sessions with a personal trainer?
Avatar m tn One day I got on the bench press I stretched before but not long. I went to bench 225 I got it 5 times and when I got up from the bench I was very light headed and felt a pressure on my chest. The pressure lasted for a week... Then when it healed my sternum gets really sore depending on how I sit..I can't lift heavy any more and when I lift now (lighly) I'll feel my chest tighten up and I'll get lightheaded...I took 3 months off before trying again and it's still like this.
Avatar n tn Switch legs after you’re finished with the set. Prepare for step-ups by standing and facing a bench. Set one foot completely atop the bench or use a box and then drive off that leg to raise your body up onto the box / bench. Keep your initial foot on the box / bench as you lower back to the floor and then repeat, switching legs only when you’re finished with the set. Do strength and cardio circuit workout into your routine one day per week.
Avatar m tn Left ventricle diastolic (filling capacity) size is 3.5-5.7 cm. The 6.5 cm indicates an enlarged left ventricle. Aortic root 4.5 cm (normal range 2.0-3.7 cm). Generally when the size is greater than 4.0 cm, the condition is medically referred to as an aneursym. generally when and if the size increases to 5.0 cm or greater there is a danger for a rupture. If the LV is enlarged, surgery may be risky!
1415174 tn?1453243103 I lift free weights with a trainer and when I do chin ups, plus prone rows with dumb bells or bench press. I wake up with a stiff neck and upper right trap area or that area and just below that area. It takes a few weeks to go away and then I do other kinds of weight lifting for several months and nothing else seems to cause a problem except squats with a bar on my back. I think my form is good. But these two things cause a problem.

Avatar f tn Obese men should start with low- to moderate-intensity aerobic workouts to ease into a fitness program. Some beginner-friendly aerobic workouts include walking or cycling on a stationary bike. The American College of Sports Medicine advises adults do moderate intensity cardio 30 minutes a day, five days a week for good health. Men can do cardio workouts five times a week for 30-minute sessions, or break up the workout into shorter, more frequent sessions.
Avatar f tn I was a gym addict too lol I was told no weighted squats so stay with air squats. If you are you should be good to continue it. I was still working my arms and back real good and haven't had issues. I have done some free weights but that has to do with how good you are at them.
Avatar m tn As I said in my last post, I'm not counting the days but I think I'm 60 something now. It seems like that bad time in my life is a "lifetime" behind me. I've substituted my use with getting back to the gym, where I have spent a great deal of time in my adult life. I'm really happy with my progress, I've shot up from 197 to 216 lbs in around 6 weeks and dropped 2" in my waist. Some of my "poundages" have more than tripled.
Avatar m tn 3 weeks back I got severe head ache when I was doing bench press. It was the back of my head, towards left side of my head. I stopped benching and continued other exercises. The head ache was there for next two days continuously. After that it started coming on and off when I climb steps, bend down or do house hold work etc. My neck was also feeling rigid and sore. So I went to chiropractor couple of times, he gave some heat therapy but that didn't help.
Avatar m tn Obviously, I will do anything in my power for my little bean, but it is still difficult. I feel like no one understands and labels me as ungrateful. How did you deal with similar doctor orders?
Avatar n tn I have shooting pain through my shoulder down to my elbow when I do any overhead lifting, such as shoulder press and incline bench press. Also my elbow region hurts when I do flat bench press. I am not a heavy lifter, so I know I don't do stupid excerises that will endanger my arm even more so. Anyways I feel pain in inner part of my form arm when I bring my arm into an arm wrestling position and I flex my bicep and formarm with my foraram touching my bicep.
Avatar m tn A Better Back Scapular retraction, it's a muscle action that strengthens the middle part of your trapezius, one of your back's biggest muscles. Pull your shoulder blades (scapulae) together in back (retracting them). The exercise, any variety of row seated using a cable machine; bent-over with a barbell, dumbbells, or T-bar or standing, pulling a cable down to your face pause, return to the starting position, and repeat. Avatar f tn Anyway it is really embarrassing to go to a gym and my family gives me no support so I never do it at home. Where should I workout?? Should I just tough trough it and get a gym membership? The problem is there has to be a gym that is open at 11 since that would be my only time to workout. What should I do? Should I just continue to do vigorous house work and walking the dog? Or should I just get a gym membership? Thanks I appreciate it!
Avatar m tn I work out frequently and one of my workouts last night included me laying on a bench with my head slightly off of the end of the bench so that I could get a full range of motion with lying tricep extentions. With 135lbs pressing me down and some of that weight being distributed to where my head is against the edge of the bench, I wonder if there was a possibility of that causing this. I so that workout fairly frequently though, so who knows.
Avatar f tn I worked out 4-56 times a week and now I can barely get 3 workouts in. I even made a schedule for a specific pregnancy workout I found on pinterest and walking and elliptical. We just have to listen to our bodies I guess! I felt Bette when I went to the doctor today because they told me to work out 3 maybe 4 days a week and only for a maximum 20 min..
Avatar n tn What do you ladies do for workouts while pregnant? Any schedules or specifics you follow? Any good advice? Im really trying to keep my body in shape.
Avatar n tn I want to workout my abs and thighs. Any workouts that you have in mind to help me workout?
Avatar n tn Circuit training burns 30 percent more calories than typical weight training workouts. You can easily do circuit training workouts at home or at the gym on your own. Workouts last 30 to 45 minutes each and use either dumbbells, resistance bands or just your own body weight as a resistance. You're doing a series of exercises one after another in a circuit without taking any breaks in between the exercises.
1091003 tn?1257710173 I never had any heart problems during my workouts at all. I then stopped working out due to a chain reaction that I thought a supplement I was taking would destroy my liver. I worried about my liver for two weeks then started having heart palpitations. When I had my first palpitation I stopped working out, I have only not worked out for a month. I was so active and now Im just extremely paranoid that I damaged my heart. Every time I stand up it speeds up or skips beats.
