Avatar m tn I was an apple shape from puberty until age 27--large belly, broad shoulders, ample chest, but barely there hips, thighs, and butt. It didn't matter if I weighed 135 or 165 (and everything in between): I was always the same shape! I used to run and do upper-body strength training 3-4 days a week but couldn't change my body shape. But then I started doing circuit training and using a stationary bike. I also upped my workouts to 5-6 days a week.

Decreasing foot contact time with the ground makes you feel lighter on your feet and a smoother runner. Quicker leg turnover is necessary to compensate for your new, shorter stride length. Good runners take about 180 steps per minute, or 90 in 30 seconds. Count your number of strides for 30 seconds and try to hit 90 consistently. Add intensity to one workout per week.
Avatar f tn I've heard about people's hips widening after labor. Are there any ways or exercise anything to make them go back to how they were before pregnancy? And waist? Any ways to tighten waist back up or exercise that will help. I don't remember where but I read that after labor it's not good to do sit up to much. Any other helpful ways or are sit ups acceptable? Sorry it's so long..
Avatar f tn I never stop all together. There's always some kind of exercise you can do. I run, lift weights, and kickbox. All modified for my expanding tummy of course. And I get our of breath much faster, but I love my workouts! I'll start swimming soon, when my hips and back say no more running!

Avatar f tn For getting toned just do leg workouts. I believe if you do moderately low weight, but lots of reps is the best way to tone. Biking is my favorite method. If it is fat around your hips/legs there is no way to target that. Your body starts storing from one area and moves to another the more you gain. And fat loss works the same. First place you gain it is the last to lose it. Running is my favorite way of taking care of fat.

I am doing all body muscles workouts at home (sometimes intense workout) including abdominal workouts. I want to start swimming for a while and i want to know what are the benefits of swimming, and what will my muscles and abs benefit from it.

I tend to carry my weight in my hips and upper thighs and I was just wondering if anyone has any good tips to work on these areas. Right now my routine is 45 min biking, then 30min weights and exercises (mostly abs and arms) and then 35 min jogging. I am up to try any new exercises that would help target my problem areas so any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Hold this position for 10 seconds, then return to your standing position. Try to keep your back as flat as possible during this exercise. Repeat four to eight times. As for the Cardio. I suggest doing the following! Do the The Peak 8 routine it will quickly raise your heart rate 8 times for very short bursts, with a cooling down period in between.
Avatar f tn I worked out 4-56 times a week and now I can barely get 3 workouts in. I even made a schedule for a specific pregnancy workout I found on pinterest and walking and elliptical. We just have to listen to our bodies I guess! I felt Bette when I went to the doctor today because they told me to work out 3 maybe 4 days a week and only for a maximum 20 min..

Avatar f tn If you don't like workouts like me, try beach bodys rockin body workout (its kind of like zumba but not as intense). Its super fun and easy. Plus it doesn't look like you're working out, just dancing. Don't let anyone keep you down. You'll get to your goal weight! I believe in you! Same with you morgan1342.

I have intermittent pain in one of my left ribs, and left elbow. Pain in hips and back exacerbated by exercise but is also waking me up at night. pain worsened by sitting long periods. The pain is a 5 out of 10 but is always with me. Relevant facts about me: 1. 41 y.o.

Avatar f tn I would focus on body sculpting exercises such as Pilates, yoga, Barre or if you are looking for at home workouts, Team Beachbody programs such as T25, Chalean Extreme or Piyo. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Im 22 wks and I've stopped all my zumba classes (the only thing I truly miss) but I try as much as I can to do light weights and use my treadmill as much as possible but some days I can sprint for a hr and sometimes I can't even make it 30 min! So just do what feels rite! Ur body will tell u when it's enough! Congrats!

I tend to go and go and go and then stop going to a gym. Once the weather warms up, Ill be taking my bike back out for rides. I might join a yoga studio again, but Ill see....

Avatar f tn Walking. If you weren't exercising before the pregnancy then stick to walking/speed walking pregnancy isn't the time to start any new workouts. That's what my doctor and mom (she's a personal trainer) have told me since I wad exercising I jog and speed walk for at least 45 mins or sometimes less depending on what my body is telling me. You can try squats but make sure to use proper form!
