Avatar m tn re exercising not only your triceps, biceps and deltoids but also your abdominals, gluteals, ribcage intercostals, chest pectorals and hip stabilizers. In freestyle and backstroke, you use a flutter kick, engaging predominantly your quadriceps in the freestyle, hamstrings in the backstroke, and to a lesser degree, your calf and foot muscles. Breaststroke and butterfly require lifting your head out of the water to breath, an action that depends largely on arm and leg power, not neck-strength.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know what the one best workout or workouts I can do for my chest, arms to grow an inch or 2
Avatar f tn t change your current workouts, but add that strength training--look up tutorials on youtube on squats, lunges, biceps curls, tricep kickbacks, back rows, (female) pushups, chest presses, planks, crunches, etc., and buy some resistance bands and two 8lb weights to start. Don't worry about getting bulky--it's pretty much impossible for women to get bulky from strength training, especially the older we get. Good luck with everything!
Avatar m tn A rowing machine provides aerobic workouts to the biceps, triceps, pectoralis muscles, and the upper back muscles. An upper body ergometer (arm bike) looks like an upside-down bike that is pedaled with your hands. In the pool, shallow water arm movements with leg stabilization can be done to stress the arms, chest and upper back. With assistance, a seated modified boxing workout can be completed with the aid of medical personnel. Basic cardio.

Avatar n tn Some athletes choose to have a ruptured long head surgically repaired in order to restore symmetry to the biceps muscle. The best surgical results are achieved when the repair is performed within 3 to 4 weeks of the injury. The procedure is called a tenodesis. This involves attaching the proximal tendon to the proximal humerus to restore a normal contour to the biceps belly and symmetry with the other biceps muscle.
Avatar f tn abs, legs, biceps, chest, or back). So every day I'm doing machines for one area plus the cardio (jogging or eliptical). Like I said I've been disciplined and going every day, but I'm getting discouraged because I don't see my body changing.. I realize its only been a month but I am at it every single day, shouldn't I be seeing some results? My diet is healthy too, I have low blood sugar so I eat tons of protein.
Avatar f tn For measuring size gains, perform circumference measurements and record. Various body locations such as the chest, biceps and thighs are indicators of size gains. For weight loss, use a scale and record your weight. Measure your progress every four to six weeks to assess the effectiveness of your workout plan.
Avatar f tn I had MRI which showed abnormal signal intensity within the muscle and adjacent tissues at the junction of the middle and distal third of the long head of the biceps femoris. No full thickness tear is seen. what does this indicate? I would think I would see some improvement by now and I still feel the lagging tightness even when I walk fast. I am 47 and in great physical shape. I work out daily with weights and have no problem with elliptical workouts.
Avatar f tn Obese men should start with low- to moderate-intensity aerobic workouts to ease into a fitness program. Some beginner-friendly aerobic workouts include walking or cycling on a stationary bike. The American College of Sports Medicine advises adults do moderate intensity cardio 30 minutes a day, five days a week for good health. Men can do cardio workouts five times a week for 30-minute sessions, or break up the workout into shorter, more frequent sessions.

2009595 tn?1328842671 ) I recently joined a gym, and got to talk with a personal trainer for joining. Everything went great. However, he wants me to work specific muscle groups (legs, arms, chest, back...etc.) once every week. I know you're supposed to give your muscles time to recuperate after strenuous exercise - but I've always thought it was a day or two before working them again... so that just seems a little strange to me. Just looking for some feedback on this advice.
Avatar f tn m an 18-year-old runner preparing for a 10K (if you have any tips for more effective workouts go ahead) so my tights (exept for the inner thigh) are well trained. I'd like to work on my abs (unfortunately hidden between a layer of fat),arms (exept for biceps and a little shoulders I don't have much to brag about) and back (I'm having some back pain lately and need to work on my posture). So... Any advice or exercise I could do? :) Thanks a lot.
Avatar f tn Rotate between different cardio machines each day to ensure that your body in constantly adapting to different stimuli. Divide you weight workout into 3 groups. For example you might do chest, biceps, and triceps on Monday. Back and shoulders on Wednesday and then finish the week out with quads, hamstrings, and calves on Friday. Be sure to include core work in each workout including cardio days. Keep your workouts to 30-40 minutes daily for cardio and strength.

1292438 tn?1276120904 Tighten your core and hold it that way for the duration of the exercise [A]. Lift one foot off the floor and slowly raise your knee as close to your chest as you can without changing your lower-back posture. Then repeat with your other leg. Alternate back and forth for 30 seconds. If that’s too hard, place your hands on the floor or a bench.
Avatar m tn How many sets are you trying to do? What body parts are you working each day? You may need to back off of the number of sets since you are just starting out. Or your order may be off ie don't work your biceps on day 1 if you are going to work your back on day 2 because most of the back exercises also use your biceps as a supporting muscle, and if your arms are sore you won't get far.
Avatar m tn ve been having a strange, almost itching feeling in my left arm, shoulder and left side of chest for two weeks now. Sometimes I feel tingling in my shoulder, left side of face and tounge, dull pain in my biceps and my middle and ring finger. What worries me the most is the strange feeling in my left chest. I fear it's heart related. I'm a four year smoker that recently quit. I stopped exercising and gained some weight recently.
Avatar n tn I have seen my generl practioner and had blood work done and everything came back normal. I noticed stretch marks on my biceps two days ago. I can not keep gaining like this. Please help!
Avatar m tn You're spending to much time on the same body part!! Take some aspirin and either soak in a hot tub or apply a heating pad or something like a Ben gay ointment just be careful to wash your hands don't get the cream in your eyes. No more than 2-3 sets of 10-12 reps every other day 3 times per week. don't do anything until you're back to normal!!! If within a few days you don't see any sign of improvement then see your doctor.
Avatar n tn The biceps tendon is the structure that connects the biceps muscle to the bone. There is a proximal biceps tendon at the shoulder joint, and a distal biceps tendon at the elbow. When the biceps tendon ruptures, this tendon is detached. Following a biceps tendon rupture, the muscle cannot pull on the bone, and certain movements may be weakened and painful. There are two types of biceps tendon ruptures: Proximal type is the most common type of biceps tendon injury.
Avatar n tn Hello all, I have noticed recently, during my weightlifting routines at the gym, that I will occasionally get a fluttering sensation in my heart that lasts about 10 to 15 seconds and occurs randomly while lifting weights or doing abdominal exercises, but oddly enough never during cardio workouts such as running or swimming (chance?). These "flutters" are quite worrisome, as I feel as if my heart may not recover it's consistent beat sometimes.
Avatar m tn Started to do some workout to keep fit almost a year ago. Things were going good. One day I was doing biceps with dumbells I started to feel pain in my left elbow. I ignored it but couple of days later it got worse. My doctor told me "tennis elbow" and gave me exercises like "pronationa and supination". I did it and still doing it. I used elbow bracing and taking pain meds. It didn't improve.
Avatar n tn Circuit training burns 30 percent more calories than typical weight training workouts. You can easily do circuit training workouts at home or at the gym on your own. Workouts last 30 to 45 minutes each and use either dumbbells, resistance bands or just your own body weight as a resistance. You're doing a series of exercises one after another in a circuit without taking any breaks in between the exercises.
Avatar m tn At the end of August I was continuing to do P90x workouts although not in great shape but good enough to keep up with them. I went bowling one night after I was already sore from a vigourous workouts throughout the week. Ever since then I have had moderate to severe pain underneath and behind my right rib cage and into my chest. It feels like a have a ball stuck behind there many times and I can't even sleep on my right side.
Avatar m tn does masterbating shrinks the body especially if i am a gym person and if i did a intense workout on my chest and biceps and 3 days later if i masterbate is that gonna shrink the body?
Avatar f tn I worked out 4-56 times a week and now I can barely get 3 workouts in. I even made a schedule for a specific pregnancy workout I found on pinterest and walking and elliptical. We just have to listen to our bodies I guess! I felt Bette when I went to the doctor today because they told me to work out 3 maybe 4 days a week and only for a maximum 20 min..
