Avatar f tn I need a good workout plan for me without having to visit a gym. Are there any good, trustworthy and up-to-date sites that I can save to keep going back to do these exercises over and over each day? Or would anyone have any suggestions on where to begin?
Avatar f tn Many gyms have a wide selection of group classes that include yoga, aerobics, step aerobics and dance-style workouts such as Zumba. Joining a class for beginners can help if you feel unsure of how to proceed with your workout. Remember, you're likely not the only gym newbie in the class. As you exercise in a class, you might feel more confident and even find a future workout partner. Check the area of the gym that features a number of cardio machines.

Avatar f tn Okay so I can't go to the gym. I get really bad anxiety, like I'll go to walk through the door and start crying. I've always been this way. I walk an hour a day but I'm trying to get in shape and loose 10lbs for vacation in August.
1279364 tn?1280682588 I have to ask! Is the Shake Weight a viable piece of workout equipment for your upper body? I know it is for your stomach since you will be laughing so hard. =D But other than the laughs, which are good for your health, is it worth $20 & 6 minutes a day? PS - I don't think I could ever use this in front of the kids. Know what I mean?
Avatar n tn I can only say that my wife has owned cardio equipment and if the owner used it frequently you'll probably find a lot of problems that constantly need fixing. They don't hold up well. If you can't afford fairly regular repairs in both time and money, I'd just get a gym membership -- it's probably cheaper in the long run.

Business woman1 I advise my patients with similar complaints to start low intensity muscle toning (reps using 15-20 lbs 3 days a week) and upper body aerobic exercise 1-2x weekly (ie swimming, eliptical). Hiring a personal trainer may also give you the structure and guidance that will help you achieve your goal but without sustaining an injury. But the results can be slow (ie 3-6 months) Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn This form of exercise has become popular for a number of reasons. The equipment (bike) is already provided, the workout is low impact, it is performed indoors. Most importantly, the seat should be placed in the correct position to avoid injury and to maximize the effectiveness of the workout. Cycling (even stationary) can be a great way to burn calories. Avatar f tn I have used Leslie Sansone in-home walking videos for the past two years with good results, lost 40 pounds so far. In my area, they can be rented from video stores or purchased at big box stores or online. She also has some free workouts on Youtube. I was skeptical at first, but being able to walk 1 to 5 miles in my living room when the snow is flying outside is great. Leslie is very encouraging, some people love that, and some don't, but it works for me.
Avatar f tn Anymore than that and will come right back. By July you could lose about 30 pounds if you eat right and maintain a healthy workout plan, but any more than that and you will gain it back very quickly. I've always found by obsessing over the number on the scale does no good. It's about feeling good and being healthy.
Avatar f tn I'm not a doctor but I would think that's fine! Probably healthy for the baby. I need to exercise more too, but don't have a gym membership and no equipment at home :/ I wish I had something to workout with at home.

Simply stand with your legs hip-width apart and your palms flat on the wall in front of you, at shoulder level. Keeping your right leg straight, slowly lift your heel off the floor behind you as you exhale. Hold for a count of five, then inhale as you slowly lower your heel back to the floor. Alternate between both legs, doing up to 10 repetitions per leg, gradually increasing the number of repetitions with each workout.
172023 tn?1334672284 I frequently look for reasons to avoid intentionally exercising. I have no idea why, because I feel good while exercising, and always feel better and more committed to a healthy lifestyle afterwards. But I'm constantly making excuses for not going to the gym. I know there are many things I can do at home that aren't labeled "exercise", and I do them, but I also enjoy working out at the gym. So why do I avoid it whenever I can?

Avatar f tn Yup, it's completely fine to jog. My doctor told me to stay as active as possible because in her words "you wouldn't run a marathon without working out first, right?" That's what she compares labor to the extent of running a marathon. Just make sure to stay hydrated.
Avatar m tn I'm a relatively active 38 year old man 1830mm 87 kg, healthy diet, smoker and occasional drinker. Currently my exercise is walking quite a bit (at least an hour a day, recommendation is 1/2 hour min) and a physically active job. My lack of strength shows at work. Sundays I use strap on weights on my walk. Going to the gym is out of the question - too expensive and impractical to get to after work (though I'm looking for a job at a place with a gym).

Avatar f tn I had a trainer tell me once if I started out my workout by first streatching then run on the treadmill for 5-10 minutes then move to other equipment and target one muscle group that night. Then when I was done run on the treadmill again for 20 minutes and then call it a night. He said the first 5-10 minutes gets your heartrate at the target to burn calories and then you maintain that by working a muscle group.
