Common Questions and Answers about Workout routines lose weight

Avatar n tn Are you losing weight at all? The best way to keep weight off is to lose a bit at a time so it stays off, and you don't say if you're getting anywhere or getting nowhere. I would ask, if this exercise is new to you, meaning you weren't doing this before, do you notice anything positive happening in the shape of your body?
Avatar f tn Did you know you lose weight when you do cardio but if you add weight training like lifting weights you lose weight even after you're done with your workout. And the weight training doesn't have to be very vigorous you can do it sitting watching tv and lifting a weight or using an elastic band tide to the leg of the chair and you put your leg through and pull. Of course if at anytime you do start getting symptoms stop relax let them go away and then try it later.
Avatar n tn So my questions are, what are good diet and exercise routines for someone like me to lose weight and gain muscle? Oh yeah, I also use protein shakes for after lifting weights, do they really help build muscle?
Avatar f tn I am not sure what online sites preach but cutting down on calories is neither a healthy for an effective way to lose weight, ‘especially when you are working out’. It is important to know that a diet plan is not about cutting down calories; it’s about ‘healthy’ eating. With cutting on diet one may initially lose weight but this may remain static or increase later due to fat accumulation.
Avatar f tn I would love any tips from the other Mommas reguarding excercise routines to lose the baby weight ( thighs, back, & belly), also I would love some tips on schedule conflics, I like to take lunches to work, but I seem to never have enough time to prepare them! Thanks for all the help and support!

10156295 tn?1408175438 You say you have kept logs, have you kept the same excercise routines too?
Avatar f tn It's possible that you're at a plateau, where your metabolism has adjusted to your caloric intake and your exercise level. Try changing your workout routines around to "trick" your body. You might also be retaining fluids a bit. You might also try getting a body fat percentage done to see if you're already as lean as you can reasonably get. If you are, no amount of dieting or exercise will change your weight very much.
Avatar f tn Don't start drastic diets or trying to force things back in place with constrictive clothing, don't start any crazy workout routines. Wait until your body has had a chance to recover on its own for a while. Ask your doctor or midwife how your body is doing when you have your postpartum checkup at six weeks and if they clear you for exercise you can start doing a bit more then. For now, your baby needs you more than your body needs sculpting.
Avatar f tn when I am losing fat weight and am over 250 lbs, I will not gain muscle and lose fat at the same time. I will lose fat weight, muscle weight, scale weight. So if I try to lose weight quickly, I will be more predisposed to weight regain. When I work with patients and clients I normally see them after they have tried everything. There is a way to lose weight and not have to take supplements or remove yourself from your environment. The same goes for a low carbohydrate diet.
Avatar n tn You can be eating healthy, and still not be eating the right things to lose weight. You also have to watch portion sizes. I agree with changing up your exercises. It's true that when first beginning an exercise program you can be building muscle, rather than losing weight. You should always take your measurements before beginning an exercise regimen, because often measurements will decrease while the scale will not.
Avatar m tn I have successfully been off antidepressants for 3 months, BUT CANNOT LOSE THE WEIGHT!! I have read so many blogs and cant find the answer. Please, if anyone has or has had a similar experience,.. help!!
Avatar n tn i've tried to lose weight by wearing those plastic suits under a sweater and i did lose "weight" but it seemed that it was all water that i lost. I still had fat on my stomach. I really don't recommend using that. Sticking to cardio and weights is the best option.
1127564 tn?1262548356 I'm sorry to disappoint you, but your mother is right -- you don't need to lose weight.
Avatar n tn 5mg) I started to lose weight. During the past 2 years, I worked out 4-7 days a week weight lifting. 6-12 months ago I started to perform HIIT 3 times per week directly after weightlifting (ill get to HIIT in a sec) burning anywhere from 800 - 1600 calories per day via heart rate monitor.
Avatar n tn with the pregnancy and can not lose the weight. I have been a member of weight watchers for 7 years, and know how to eat right. I've faithfully counted pts., and have exercised, but the scaled won't budge.
Avatar n tn I would say that it is a 50/50 chance whether you would lose weight in the long run as the product wasn't designed as a weight loss product. (but I'm not a doctor so your dr. might be able to tell you what to expect).
Avatar f tn Ranges vary lab to lab, so thy have to come from your own lab report. Some people gain weight hypo or hyper, some lose weight either way. It's one of those symptoms very subject to individual differences.
17239077 tn?1454878724 If what you're eating is being digested and metabolized well, you will lose weight; if it's not, you won't. I also have to say that of course stretching helps you burn calories, and not stretching is never recommended, though some believe in different times to do it -- some believe in doing it before and after a workout, some believe it only before, some in only after, and you probably need more with cardio than with resistance training unless you're old.

Avatar n tn sometimes you don't need to actually lose weight off the scale to look and feel 100% better. The muscle weight has replaced your fat weight so why worry about the last few pounds? Don't put your body through hell just to see a number. I completely understand. I went through the exact same thing and after countless flush diets, changing routines i realized my body just wasn't built to go under a certain weight (and still be healthy).
Avatar n tn While it can be frustrating and discouraging, it is possible to lose weight. Weight absolutely affects self esteem but don't put pressure on yourself.....You'll get there! Best wishes and good luck!

Avatar f tn You might consider have your thyroid levels tested, since hypothyroidism is a major cause of sudden weight gain/inability to lose; however, you aren't overweight by any stretch of the imagination, so you might be okay to wait a couple months and see if your hormones balance out again . I recommend that you keep a food diary and count how many calories you are actually eating/day. If you aren't taking in enough, your body many hand onto fat stores already there to prevent starvation.
Avatar n tn At one point I even got a trainer and still couldn't lose weight. I am afraid to go off Effexor because I'm convinced that I'm "A Lifer" as far as needing medication fro depression. I am in education and with summer coming, I hope, as long as I can get my psychiatrist to agree that I'm going to change my meds, that way if I get sick, which I kknow is likely ( I had an awful Paxil withdrawal in 2003)I at least won't have to go to work.
Avatar f tn Any workout routine that gets and keeps you moving will help you lose weight, as will any diet that consists of healthy foods with calories kept within the proper range for your current age, height and weight. You don't have to tell us your weight, but it's quite important that you calculate your daily calorie needs to make sure you cut calories enough, but not too much. Your calorie needs are based on your current age, weight and height.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, unlike the poster, I am significantly overweight for my height and am desperately needing to lose weight. For two years I maintained a rigorous cardio and weight-training regimen - working out for two hours a day, six days a week (still taking in only 900 cal./day) and only then managed to lose 1 pound a week. It's just too much to work that hard and eat so little and have so little progress to show for it...
Avatar n tn I wonder if I stop working out so much and stop monitoring my eating if I will actually lose weight. Is it possible to gain weight from over-exercising and undereating? Like I said, I eat between 1000-1200 calories a day. Now I am trying not to go above 1000 calories. I have bumped up my workout to 60min of cardio 5-6 days a week. 3 of those days I do additional weight training for about 30-45min. Is that too much exercise and not enough calories. Should I up one or lower the other?
Avatar n tn Indulge in sports if possible and with increasing your output and controlling your input you will lose weight. With 500kcal loss per day you will lose weight ultimately, break the plateau barrier you are presently experiencing by squeezing a little on input and increasing your output. Take care!
