And the weight training doesn't have to be very vigorous you can do it sitting watching tv and lifting a weight or using an elastic band tide to the leg of the chair and you put your leg through and pull. Of course if at anytime you do start getting symptoms stop relax let them go away and then try it later.

Avatar f tn I am not sure what online sites preach but cutting down on calories is neither a healthy for an effective way to lose weight, ‘especially when you are working out’. It is important to know that a diet plan is not about cutting down calories; it’s about ‘healthy’ eating. With cutting on diet one may initially lose weight but this may remain static or increase later due to fat accumulation.

Avatar f tn It's possible that you're at a plateau, where your metabolism has adjusted to your caloric intake and your exercise level. Try changing your workout routines around to "trick" your body. You might also be retaining fluids a bit. You might also try getting a body fat percentage done to see if you're already as lean as you can reasonably get. If you are, no amount of dieting or exercise will change your weight very much.
Avatar f tn Don't start drastic diets or trying to force things back in place with constrictive clothing, don't start any crazy workout routines. Wait until your body has had a chance to recover on its own for a while. Ask your doctor or midwife how your body is doing when you have your postpartum checkup at six weeks and if they clear you for exercise you can start doing a bit more then. For now, your baby needs you more than your body needs sculpting.

So if I try to lose weight quickly, I will be more predisposed to weight regain. When I work with patients and clients I normally see them after they have tried everything. There is a way to lose weight and not have to take supplements or remove yourself from your environment. The same goes for a low carbohydrate diet.
Avatar n tn You can be eating healthy, and still not be eating the right things to lose weight. You also have to watch portion sizes. I agree with changing up your exercises. It's true that when first beginning an exercise program you can be building muscle, rather than losing weight. You should always take your measurements before beginning an exercise regimen, because often measurements will decrease while the scale will not.

Avatar n tn i've tried to lose weight by wearing those plastic suits under a sweater and i did lose "weight" but it seemed that it was all water that i lost. I still had fat on my stomach. I really don't recommend using that. Sticking to cardio and weights is the best option.

Avatar n tn sometimes you don't need to actually lose weight off the scale to look and feel 100% better. The muscle weight has replaced your fat weight so why worry about the last few pounds? Don't put your body through hell just to see a number. I completely understand. I went through the exact same thing and after countless flush diets, changing routines i realized my body just wasn't built to go under a certain weight (and still be healthy).

Avatar f tn You might consider have your thyroid levels tested, since hypothyroidism is a major cause of sudden weight gain/inability to lose; however, you aren't overweight by any stretch of the imagination, so you might be okay to wait a couple months and see if your hormones balance out again . I recommend that you keep a food diary and count how many calories you are actually eating/day. If you aren't taking in enough, your body many hand onto fat stores already there to prevent starvation.
Avatar n tn At one point I even got a trainer and still couldn't lose weight. I am afraid to go off Effexor because I'm convinced that I'm "A Lifer" as far as needing medication fro depression. I am in education and with summer coming, I hope, as long as I can get my psychiatrist to agree that I'm going to change my meds, that way if I get sick, which I kknow is likely ( I had an awful Paxil withdrawal in 2003)I at least won't have to go to work.

You don't have to tell us your weight, but it's quite important that you calculate your daily calorie needs to make sure you cut calories enough, but not too much. For two years I maintained a rigorous cardio and weight-training regimen - working out for two hours a day, six days a week (still taking in only 900 cal./day) and only then managed to lose 1 pound a week. It's just too much to work that hard and eat so little and have so little progress to show for it...

Like I said, I eat between 1000-1200 calories a day. Now I am trying not to go above 1000 calories. I have bumped up my workout to 60min of cardio 5-6 days a week. 3 of those days I do additional weight training for about 30-45min. Is that too much exercise and not enough calories. Should I up one or lower the other?

With 500kcal loss per day you will lose weight ultimately, break the plateau barrier you are presently experiencing by squeezing a little on input and increasing your output. Take care!
