Avatar n tn it would probably be rare for creatine to raise blood pressure. It does result in water retention, but that's in the muscle cells, not in the circulation. If it were causing the rise in BP, that would be a rare case. OTOH, the creatine probably is the likely suspect. So, like everybody says, the reasonable approach is to discontinue it and see if BP goes down. That's not guaranteed, and you can't overlook the possibility of something worse, like kidney disease.
Avatar n tn Creatine is a naturally occurring substance that plays an important role in the production of energy in the body. The body converts it to phosphocreatine, a form of stored energy used by muscles. The evidence for creatine is not definitive, it has the most evidence behind it among all the sports supplements. Numerous small double-blind studies suggest that it can increase athletic performance in sports that involve intense but short bursts of activity.
Avatar m tn I have been on Wellbutrin for years. I use the gym as a great outlet for my anxiety/depression. I've recently used creatine supplements to help me workout. I work crazy hours and have a very busy life and that "boost" helps me get my workout in. But I've had some bad reactions. Including severe anxiety, paranoia, twitching. This only happens when I take certain creatine supplements. I am very sensitive to stimulants.
Avatar m tn I am wondering if there is anything I can do to make the creatine pre-workout powder a little slower acting or less powerful mix it with more water maybe or I don't know what that's why I'm here asking LOL. I just want a little boost but I don't want to feel like I'm speeding all over the place so just looking for experience and advice thank you.
Avatar f tn 32, Male, 175cm, 75kg, no existing medical issues. Four days ago, I got dizzy while working out in the gym. I can almost rule out that it was due to dehydration or low sugar levels, as I always drink a lot and eat a little snack before workout. I also felt dizzy and powerless the day after that. Today I wore a Fitbit while working out and I noticed that my heart rate during workout is pretty low. During exercises and in the breaks as well, it always seems to be around 90-100.
4739785 tn?1358598181 m supplementing with Protein(1 serving gives 9gms of Protein + 1.5gms of Creatine Monohydrate). I tried Creatine Monohydrate supplementation 2 weeks ago(5gms or less per day, tried for 1 week then stopped). I'm not under any treatment. I'm drinking plenty of water throughout the day(during workout too). I'm drinking 3 cups of milk daily and eating 4 eggs per week. I'm following vegan diet(using meat and fish rarely). Today, I've consulted with General Medicine Doctor.
1007653 tn?1259385967 ve been in the gym for about 2 and a half years, trying to gain some weight and with some good results, tried some creatine supplements as well as whey protein and some multi. I read that Alpha lypoic acid is a good antioxidant and can help with creatine absorption so they recommend it. Now, I've been doing some research about this antioxidant and found many different reccomended doses, from less than 50 mg a day to even more than 600 mg a day.
Avatar m tn Treatment leaves most folks nutritional depleted with high oxidative stress. Glutathione, Vitamins A, C, E and selenium are all depleted. The treatment induces a pro-inflammatory state, and shifting back to an anti-inflammatory state is, in my opinion, of value, along with anti-fibrotic measures for the liver. Many of these items will accelerate brain recovery, one of the organs most profoundly affected by interferon.
Avatar n tn then the problem is digestion... acidity... mint is good for this...
Avatar f tn Eat plenty of carbs before workout but don't go overboard. Don't eat carbs after 7pm or so. Eat about 1g of protein for every pound of body weight per day. Fish and lean meat have lots if protein. Protein shakes will help with bulk. Don't use creatine too much, it isn't too good for your heart :/ Of course eat minimal junk food and plenty of fruit and vegtables. There are also supliments called animal cuts you should check out. They're quite good.
Avatar m tn Hi .. i am 18 and working out for 2 years now ... I am planning to take creatine to help me enhance my muscles development , So i want to know if it is safe to take creatine ?!? Are there any sideeffects ?? Please advise me on this .. thanks .
Avatar m tn t do it regularly, try to at least go for a jog around your block once or twice a week or do workout videos (like the well-known P90X videos) that are quick to whip you into shape at home. As for meal plans, combining complex carbs and protein is your best bet for gaining muscle.
Avatar m tn Good nutrition will insure better health in the long run, but supplements go beyond nutrition, because they spike the body with substances which may or may not be good in high doses, especially for an extended period of time.
Avatar m tn and still gota take treatment for another 11 weeks.strange.i take pre workout kick.has dmha in it.and take creatine powder noticing urine very dark not coming clear end of day.been told people have kidney failures in future from it.but still dont know how it well effect my treatment???
Avatar f tn I recently drank a pre-workout drink at my gym and then noticed that it said don't drink if you have thryoid disease. I didn't feel any side effects but I was wondering why I shouldn't be drinking it. I have very mild hypothyroidism. The ingredients in the drink are: Arginine Alpha-Ketoglutarate, Creatine Monohydrate, Beta Alanine, Caffeine, 1,3-Dimethylamylamine (Geranium [Stem]), Schizandrol A Could any of these ingredients cause harm?
Avatar m tn Let me preface this by saying I was a collegiate athlete, so my tolerance for workout stress is pretty high. I can't say that I know anything about the brand you are using but I will share my experience. I also use whey protein, the exact type is the GNC Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60. It has worked really well since I don't get to eat as properly as I should with work and school. I stack that with GNC's Amplified Creatine and Glutamine powder.
Avatar n tn It also has argnine which will help increase blood flow and oxygen to the muscles. It also contains a form of creatine as well. Creatine will allow muscles to handle a greater work load. The only ingredient to be careful with is the caffeine. If someone is caffeine sensitive they should be careful with products like this as it could make them jittery. I have used it and it will help you handle a greater workload which can lead to gains in strenght and performance.
Avatar f tn I had this problem before. If you are 100% sure that it started after taking creatine then I can assure you that it's from the creatine. The protein powder causes build up in your kidneys and causes kidney stones. I had the same issue. I used to drink alot of protein powder. Here is what you have to do. You have to drink a lot of water. You need to be drinking like 5 bottles a day. You will be peeing alot.
Avatar n tn Hi Gotell, how are you doing? Hope you are feeling lot better by now and are you continuing the workout presently? Did you have blurring of vision, vomiting, and giddiness? You need to get used to the gym workout routinely and it may take a couple of weeks also. Do not try to exert too much on a particular day, rather go at a slow pace and do it regularly. You might have had a sudden muscle strain causing the intense pain. Initial muscle aches and soreness is common which might pass off slowly.
Avatar f tn If you wish to increase strength, use the one-rep maximum test. Your one-rep maximum refers to the heaviest amount of weight you can move in an exercise for one repetition. For measuring size gains, perform circumference measurements and record. Various body locations such as the chest, biceps and thighs are indicators of size gains. For weight loss, use a scale and record your weight. Measure your progress every four to six weeks to assess the effectiveness of your workout plan.
Avatar m tn hi, after a number of years of lifting weight's with ok results, i went to the doctor for a blood test. to be told i had a under active thyroid, after researching this on the net i found out you get weight gain from having this problem??? [which i have not] i am 6 ft 1 200 lbs which is ok but i would love to gain more muscle and strength, i have tried different approaches to this creatine no's with no results at all? thyroid maybe???
14991338 tn?1447193706 I suspect that this has to do with a blood pressure drop or raising due to the workout. It is possible your anxiety while you workout is putting your bp over the edge. It does raise some naturally after a workout and the anxiety may be making it go higher. If you had a clean bill of health with your tests then I would work on this fear you have that is impacting your well being. We are all going to die. Living in fear of it will rob you of your happiness.
Avatar m tn Hi, whey protein is just dried milk without the calcium caseinate, lactose, and fat... plain and simple. It's best to use whey protein only for pre-and-post workout nutrition. You're really better off getting the rest of your protein from real food. Drink it 30-45 minutes before working out. For post-workout nutrition it gets a little trickier because the mixture depends on your goals. The post-workout shake is made from skim milk, whey protein.
Avatar f tn Are you taking an creatine supplements? If so this can cause cramping. Muscle cramps are caused by your body not having enough potassium. Eating bananas and staying very hydrated is important. Abs are typically okay to work out every day, but you need to alternate upper and lower body to give arms and legs a chance to rest. Make sure you are stretching before and after exercise as well and getting in a good warm up and cool down! Good luck!
