Common Questions and Answers about Workout neck

Avatar m tn Had an injury to my neck that was made worse by chiro etc, took me 14 months to feel ok. I am now trying to get back into working out, very light. I've had MRI's etc and everything looks ok now. I have some mild Cervical DDD but that's about it. Nothing major. So am cleared to workout basically. I loved p90x, extreme but awesome and gained very well. But there were a few things I didn't like about it, one is the level of complication, too many routines to do.

Avatar f tn Do bicycle crunches, lie on your back with your knees bent and both feet flat on the floor. Place your fingertips on the back of your neck. In one smooth movement, pull your right knee in towards your chest, straighten your left leg and curl your left shoulder and elbow to meet your right knee. Repeat on the opposite side and continue repeating as if riding a bicycle. Position yourself on a chair with your back pressed firmly against the backrest.
Avatar m tn Initially if you have muscle pains then repeat the exercise on alternate days to give rest to the same group of muscles. Alternate days you can concentrate on abs, legs and neck. Take care!
Avatar n tn I am 26 years old and just got diagnosed with Sacroiliitis and Ankylosing Spondylitis. I have to be very careful when I workout or else I cannot move the next day. I can't seem to find a fitness instructor who seems to understand this, all they push is for me to work harder and do things I just cannot physically do.
594189 tn?1386920207 What kinda workout can I do while I sit here? Any ideas please. I figured this would be a good time to get in some workout time.
Avatar f tn Hi guys! I need help, I am a 31 years female 5"4 height. I dont understand why the scale doesnt show even ONE POUND LOSS! some history - I at the age of 18 reached 180 lbs, did weight watchers and lost 50 lbs in one year...was able to maintain it as well. With further more workouts and right eating I got down to 125 lbs (which was unhealthy as I had to take extreme wokrout and diet measures) I slowly reached my "right" weight 135...
Avatar n tn Hi, The past two days that I have gone to the gym, when I have begun lifting (arm curls, chest press, etc.) I have experienced a strong pain shooting through my neck and head. The pain is overwhelming (so I stop lifting) and then subsides within a minute. My neck feels fine and normal during the day until I do some sort of strenuous activity (activity which I suppose tightens the neck muscles, as ab-workout does not cause this). Is this likely a temporary problem and will it heal on its own?
Avatar m tn Needless to say my whole face (namely cheeks and entire neck area..especially under jawline) has swollen to where I'm barely recognizable to my pre-bulimic days. I am going to seriously embark on getting serious help with it soon..but in the meantime, is there any supplement, remedy, food, workout (lol) or anything else that could even diminish this grotesque and glaring eyesore? Just getting self-conscious about it..please help. Thank you sincerely.
Avatar n tn Hello, I have a couple of small lumps in my neck. One of them has been there for awhile and my doctor thought it was a lymph node that didn't shrink down after being inflamed. I have developed a second lump on the other side of my neck that is about the size of a pea and is a little firmer than the first one. I don't have any colds or obvious infections that would cause this. I am an avid weight lifter and workout 5 days a week (have been doing this for over 10 years consistently).
502065 tn?1329191119 It sounds like what you're describing is ligment inflammation, which can become worse over time. Given the severity of your neck stiff ,neck pain and the functional limitations it's now placing on you, it probably is time to consult with a physician. Treatment options vary depending on the degree of soft tissue and the findings or symptoms of your physical examination. There are situations where acupuncture would be recommended before any type of nonsurgical treatment. Take care!

Avatar n tn I went to CHiropractor 2-3 times a week along with massage therapy for about 3 months, then was referred to physical therapy. The therapist was not able to manipulate my neck without setting it off, so I was treated with a workout routine at the gym and ice. I had to quit PT about 10 months after accident because of other health problems.
Avatar f tn For the neck pain and feelings of nausea associated with it, I would recommend you to undergo some investigations like neck x-ray and even MRI if required. Patients with neck problem are advised to do exercises only if there are comfortably with it and not aggravating the neck symptoms. I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn pain in neck. For awhile i thought the pain i get in the left side (mainly) of my neck was serious too. but Dr's checked my arteries and they are fine. my Doctor says it's muscle spasms and he's probably right. i do have problems with spasms due to neck and lower back problems. so it's mostly muscles but try relaxing, heat and maybe even an aspirin. good luck.
Avatar m tn Still i feel some chest pain and a slight pain on the neck(front side of the throat near the arteries it seems); I immediately went to get some sugar hoping it would get me back into shape, but didnt. One thing, while i was cycling, i did feel some pain on the neck as described above but just kept going. I got really scared to be honest with this pain, because nothing else hurts except the chest and i feel tired overall.
Avatar f tn My neck constantly hurts in the trapezoid region. It feels as if I constantly workout my traps. I don't know if these are lymph nodes or what. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn i was doing bench pressing @ tha gym and tweeked my rgt shoulder, i believe i was using improper form or had too much weight on tha bar. anyway it sometimes makes my neck stiff now, that was 5 maybe 6 weeks ago most of the pain has left since i let it rest , but some movements brings a sharp pain like a stab,,its rgt in the joint where the collar bone and shoulder connect on top, i think its time to c a dr. Does anybody have some imfo that i can take with me?
Avatar n tn The third set I perhaps did too fast because I knew I would have a hard time getting through all 20 reps and during the last 2 or 3 repetitions of that set I felt a very uncomfortable (but not a scary pain) feeling in the back of my neck just below my head. I was unusually winded, light headed and almost faint, with a throbbing sensation in my neck that was tied to my heart beat. I walked the track very slowly and sat down for 5 minutes.
Avatar n tn I'm 25 now. Up til about age 23 i never experienced pain in my neck and back. I worked out ,sports however my job for the past 4.5 years has been in an office environment. Poor working stations/ brutal hours. I had an incredibly bad back and neck spasm that took a solid year to calm down however now im constantly dealing with tight neck and shoulders/chest and back It appears to just be a major muscle imbalance. I had an mri on my neck and brain, the mri showed a minor herniation at C5.
Avatar f tn The noise is only on the right side with slight shoulder pain going down the back of my arm and pinky tingles. My neck is crackley and I get headaches almost like tension headaches. I have a small spur anteriorly at C5-6 There is a 1mm subluxation of C6 on C7.No soft tissue swelling, no abnormalities. MRI of cervical spine shows unremarkable except for disk bulge indent the thecal sac on C3-4 and C4-5.
Avatar n tn HI, Your neck should not hurt - get off the floor get an abs ball. don't over extend all the way back sit on the ball come up ever so slightly.with knees parallel on the floor. Do not pull on your neck rest your neck in your hands concentrate on your abs....the ball is the important item, not only will it work your abs but it will improve your balance.
Avatar m tn I was feeling a lump in my throat a few weeks ago and it made my workouts difficult. One day i then made it worse by rushing my shoulder workout which left my neck feeling tight and swollen. I then felt dizzy and stopped working out. I rested for about a week and now i can't seem to have a proper workout without feeling light headed, tingly face feeling, sinus blocked, ear blocked, face goes a bit numb. I have been working out for 3 years and have never experienced anything like this.
Avatar f tn Hey guys recently I started see these round dark spots around my neck it went to my chest and back and it Doesn't go away I asked 2 doctors one said its because I workout and I don't shower immediately afterwards and they other said its an allergic reaction I added a photo so can someone identify it

Avatar n tn For a few years now, I've been getting a red blotchy chest/neck rash in circumstances where I - am drinking alcohol, anxious, nervous, excited, upset - really feeling just about any emotion. It's gotten to the point where I do not expose my chest/neck ever - and cover up whenever I can. I had read once that taking Niacinimide could help - and I've been taking about 1000mg of it for a few months, but am not seeing much improvement.
Avatar m tn I've been doing this for roughly 200 days Recently I've been getting pain in the right side of my neck, around my carotid artery when I am in the middle of a workout.. the pain gets somewhat intense and worrisome. Could this be an aneurysm?
