Avatar f tn The personal trainer had me do squats, and kept changing my form and asking me to do another set. It burned and felt like it normally feels, I wasn't in any terrible pain. Then he had me do a couple sets of lunges, again it was hard but not overly painful. A couple minutes afterwards, though, my thigh muscles cramped up like crazy. My legs also felt super weird going down a flight of stairs (kind of felt like my thigh muscles didn't even exist).

Someone who is in shape can exercise vigorously, but somebody who has not been getting any real exercise will need to start out with an easier program. Somebody in between can work out at a moderate pace. Everybody should exercise a minimum of 3 days a week to make any gains at all, and it really takes at least four to see fast results.

You could try keeping a workout journal or putting up post its to remind you of the buzz you get after exercise or the achievements you've made. Likewise you can make plans to exercise with a friend at least once a week, even just a walk. The socialising will boost your mood as well as the exercise and it's a good way to prevent any unmotivated changes in plans because of the expectation to meet up.

Today he bought something called NO Shotgun. Mainly it seems to be Branch-chained amino acids, which I have found mixed reviews.
769119 tn?1235025955 3 years ago when I was exercising body building and when I left an heavy weight I got pain in my head, when ever I was going to gym and started exercise I was getting pain, then I left the workout for 2 and half years, just few months ago again I started my workout, it was going very well for 6 to 7 months, but one day again I faced the same problem (headache) during workout. ofcourse I left heavy weight again.

For instance I completed some deadlifts and lateral pull downs today with no ill effects but as soon as I tried Russian twists I felt very sick. I am at a loss as to why this is happening. I thought maybe it could have been a one off but this has continued for 4 weeks now. I never had this problem before 4 weeks ago.
172023 tn?1334672284 Anyway, what I recommend you eat is some form of protein, and some form of complex carb prior to exercising, about 1/2 hour before your workout or walk...whatever you have chosen to do. This provides some quick, easily usable energy for your workout, and the protein provides a bit of "oomph" during and after your workout. Some things you can eat: 1 egg, scrambled and a slice of low cal, whole wheat toast.

FYI ... situps, crunches, push ups, pulls ups, squats, calf-raises, and dips are all considered calisthenics.

583580 tn?1231136383 It might help to keep a food journal in which you write down everything you eat - that will let you know how many calories you are consuming. There's an exercise tracker here on MedHelp that's wonderful for letting you keep track of the exercise you get. By tracking your intake and expenditure, you will be able to find out if they are balanced out. In order to lose weight, you have to expend less than you intake.
