You can eliminate 500 calories, burn 500 extra calories with exercise; OR eliminate 250 calories, plus burn 250 calories. Of course, to lose more, you would need to eliminate/burn more. Keep in mind that cutting calories too much will cause your body to think it's starving and will hold onto fat stores already there.
Avatar f tn I have to disagree with you - exercise DOES burn calories. Don't use exercise to burn the calories that you decided to eat - just don't eat the calories in the first place. Of course, I'm not advocating that you starve yourself! That would be silly. 1200 calories a day is the minimum amount of calories that any human being needs. Those calories should be real calories - fruits, vegetables, protein, whole grains. Cardio and weight lifting are also up to the individual patient.
Avatar f tn I usually spend 40-45 min at the gym a night, and interchange that with work out dvds or running. At the gym I'm usually doing the elliptical or stairmaster and some weights and I always do interval training. My only thoughts are a) the birth control pill is slowing my metabolism to what seems like zero b) I usually drink a small glass of wine with dinner and eat a piece of dark chocolate after. Is this what is preventing me to lose weight??
Avatar f tn I can't even imagine how busy moms are with young children so there's no doubt you get a good workout in every day just being on your feet chasing after your daughter and cleaning up after her! But maybe you can buy a couple of workout dvds and pop one in when you can find the time. You don't even have to buy any kind of equippment to get a good workout in. Maybe just a couple of free weights or a resistance band, because as important as cardio is, strength training is too.

I'd highly recommend Leslie Sansone's 3 or 5 mile weight loss walking dvds.

My concern is that the scan began at lung level and didn't cover my lower throat area, and that's where I think this is coming from. I'm also concerned because since then, it has become much more pronounced...I used to only hear/feel it when I was rotating vigorously (like when doing aerobic workout), but now I hear/feel it whenever I'm simply doing daily activities and happen to turn or twist at the waist.
