I used to get UTIs chronically when I was about 18, hadn't really had a problem with them since. Now that I'm pregnant, I feel as though one may be coming on. If I caught them in time, I used to be able to cure them with Cystex or Azo cranberry. I've read extensively that Cystex is not safe during pregnancy, but does any one know whether Azo is safe to use during pregnancy?
Is it safe to take azo? I'm 7 weeks & this is my 3rd uti in a month , I'm in a lot of pain. I took macrobid 3 days, then 2 weeks later took macrobid for 7 days. Now I have another uti & it's the weekend & don't want to pay an urgent care bill. Can I take azo maximum strength?

They'll proscribe you with basically azo pills but there for pregnant women I was told not to take normal azo pills . But uti is really nothing to worry about , my mom had one with every one of her kids an nothing happened with any of us so it's completely normal .y doctor said it could be the baby sitting on your uretha an your flow doesn't come out as often or a bacteria from not wiping front to back . But my baby sits low so my doctor told me it was most likly the baby on it .
When I was younger I got uti quite frequently and could feel them coming on and I would start taking double the amount of azo cranberry pills long with black cherry juice and that usually would wipe it out.
If its bad already its probably too late for those things. If you get antibiotics make sure you ask about some probiotics because then you could just get a yeast infection or something else.

Uti's have been a normal occurence in my life, and usually I would take some azo, get on some antibiotics and it would be gone for a while at least. Well I guess I shouldn't be surprised that I have been plagued with one well 8 weeks pregnant with my first child. Knufrio is correct. Azo is to just temporarily help with the pain before you get to the doctor or before your prescription kicks in. It will not make it go away. You need to take the meds you received. If not, then just wait for your doctor. Macrobid is the most common and should not make you sick. You can also take it up until your third trimester. Im prone to UTI's, I know all about them. I used to need to see a urologist for my issues.
It helps right away you will see the difference but i take them when ever i have too. Im not constant with them but when i get antibiotics i take them or when i feel im getting sick or a bladder infection i take them it helps. I came on my period couple days ago during my period I was using Tampons I'd change them frequently throughout the day 5 hours maximum than I'd change. When my period started getting Lighter I switched to Pads but I've noticed that for past few days during my period I'd experience slight pain when I'd urinate. I have been on antibiotics since Monday and not feeling any better. I take azo and it really doesn’t help. I recently had a UTI and was put on two different antibiotics one of them being ciprofloxacin. I have still been experiencing some symptoms of the UTI (they aren't as bad as before) such as a slight burning while I pee and an urge to urinate. However, the pee test that my doctor did came back negative for bacteria the last time I was there and they let me go on my merry way even with my slight symptoms claiming that it could just be irritation and should go away.
It is possible that you could have a yeast infection! They are very easy to treat. You can use any over the counter creams or AZO Yeast which comes in pill form. Your brownish discharge could be old blood. I haven't known a yeast infection to cause bleeding, but I do believe that depending on the severity of the infection, it could be possible. In that case, you may want to contact your dr. He/she may be able to give you a prescription that could work better if it is more severe.
I am the UTI queen!! I've had so many of them I lost count. I used to get them every single time I started my period. It sounds like a UTI. I've had them so bad I would see blood as well.
