Avatar n tn If it's getting worse, I would go back and have them check for a dry socket. Usually the pain from an extraction will get better over time. If it all of a sudden gets worse, we always tell patients they may have a dry socket which is most common when lower wisdom teeth are extracted. It may feel like the upper jaw but this may be referred pain. I would have it checked out because they can pack some medicine in there to help it feel better.

5789562 tn?1374459029 So I had a wisdom tooth extraction(32) that was complicated. The tooth had to be broken in order to remove and the nurse had to hold my jaw in place while the dentist struggled to extract the tooth. Its been 5 days already and the swelling, bruising and pain are excruciating. I just finished taking all the antibiotics the dentist prescribed and I still can't eat anything solid. How long should I give it before seeking medical help for the continuing swelling and pain?

Avatar f tn My lower left wisdom tooth is infected. I am scheduled to get it extracted in a week from tomorrow. I first went to the dentist three weeks ago and he prescribed me amoxicillin, which I took and the pain and swelling went away. I then went to the oral surgeon a week later for a consultation. He said I had bone loss near the wisdom tooth from the infection, which scared me. He told me to wait to take another dose of amoxicillin until the day before the extraction.
Avatar n tn I told them of the pain in my jaw as they were yanking and pulling but they said the bottom right was on a nerve and that was what was causing the pain. They sent me home and three days after the extractions, I noticed a very hard bump in my lower right jaw about an inch from my mouth that was hot and tender to the touch. I called them and they said it was probably muscles that were just tense and to keep taking my pain meds.
Avatar n tn But then again, if that wisdom tooth continues to poke through and bash into the problem tooth that in itself could cause problems and at least with extraction the wisdom tooth would have some space - even if it does grow to the side.. Hmm so confused!

Avatar m tn And now before I came across this I did some research about it and I have found alot of things of people having the same problems with the dislocating jaw. But my absolute main question is this due to the extraction of the wisdom teeth?? Like from opening my mouth a little too wide that they done damage??? As the surgeon said himself my teeth were the most difficult he had encountered removing.
Avatar n tn it was extracted 6 months ago, and ever since it the next day afte extraction, i felt discomfert not by the tooth but below next the jaw line under my teeth. It feels hard, I went back to the dentist, and told him about it, and he saw no problem. Avatar f tn Hi, Hoping you can help me....my mother just had her lower wisdom tooth removed in the hopes it would alleviate some pain she's been having in her jaw, also because her jaw does not open very wide. The surgery was 10 days ago, she is still in pain, and has experienced numbness that has not gone away. Her right side of her tongue is still numb. She was not told there was a possibility that the numbness could be permanent until "after" her surger.
481349 tn?1226710487 Or should I see a doctor since the pain is in my ear, jaw, head and a little in my neck? Also, I looked up jaw pain and saw some exercises that can be done to alleviate jaw pain. I did the exercises and the pain in my jaw practically exploded. Also, my jaw feels really fatigued like I have been doing a LOT of chewing when I haven't been really eating any solids because of the pain. Please help.
Avatar f tn My cheek was prodded at and held open for an entire hour and a half while the students looked for guidance from the doctor while working on me, till he finally stepped in and removed the tooth. Apart from regular wisdom tooth extraction pain, I am now dealing with extreme pain from the hematoma site and I am very scared as to what the consequences of this might be. Is there any way that this could be dangerous? Will this still heal properly after all of the aggravation to it?
