Common Questions and Answers about Wisdom tooth advice

Avatar n tn Since you are already going for a consult, I would ask them about the impacted tooth as well since they have experience with it. Its possible if that wisdom tooth (#17) is not impacted for it to fill the spot of #18. I've seen it happen and it works beautifully.
Avatar m tn it hurts me a lot and makes facial swelling. Please advice what drugs can reduce pain from the wisdom tooth. i dont want to have the tooth out. best regards!
Avatar f tn Upper wisdom tooth removal is totally different from that of lower wisdom tooth.Extraction of upper wisdom tooth generally takes no more than 10 miniutes. Post-op pain and complications are generally minimal. Patients generally take one or two doses of OTC pain killer. Antibiotics is rarely needed. Swelling is a rare occurence.Your dentist was absolutely right.
Avatar n tn I am going to get my wisdom tooth pulled to see if it will allow the gum line to expose enough tooth for a crown 15 was cracked and i left it alone for a while decay was bad and after consult with endo he told me that he would have to see if he could find the canals--he did and root canal was painless and complete--everyone in the office has been great--The only thing i am worried about now is that i had the root canal and the dentist said to be careful not to crack the tooth --i am just worrie
Avatar m tn I have a wisdom tooth that is completely under the gum. It feels like it has either broken or maybe turned sideways. It has been bleeding a tiny bit but not a lot, can this lead to an infection......serious illness?
Avatar m tn t think to ask that day, arg), saying I needed 1 wisdom tooth extraction (the other, since impacted but attached or blocked by bone, would require breaking what I assume would be zygomatic bone), 2 crowns ($400-500 per crown (porcelain v. gold)+$100 so already $1000), mentioned possible work with inlays (fillings I assume), and mentioned no implants. This clinic also mentioned possible diseased regions up above the gum line which the first clinic didn't mention.
Avatar n tn If this tooth is a wisdom tooth then I would not consider doing the rct unless it is a critical tooth and has sufficient bone support. If it is not important then I might consider filling it, if that doesn't work then extraction is a very viable option.

Avatar f tn Removal of wisdom tooth probably has no effect on tmj symptoms, unless wisdom tooth has occlusal contact with opposing tooth. Limited jaw oping is generally caused by muscle spasm or disc displacement, or both. Seeing a competent tmj specialist is advisd.
Avatar f tn Hello, It's been 8 days since I had wisdom teeth surgery to remove two of my right wisdom teeth. Yesterday, I had the stitches removed and the doctor said that everything looked great. While checking my teeth, I noticed a small hole in the lower part where my wisdom tooth was. I'm not sure if the same goes for the upper part as it's hard to see. Is this normal or should I go get it stitched? How long until my gums go back to normal?
Avatar f tn I had my upper right wisdom tooth taken out on Friday. It was a pretty horrible experience, it took the dental studant abouot 45 mins to get it out. My problem is that my molars around the extraction are realy painful. Its difficult to walk because there is such a throbbing pain every time I take a step or bend over. It hurts my surrounding teeth when I clench my jaw. Is this normal? Or could this be an infection? I also cant open my jaw very wide without pain.
Avatar m tn ve read through some of the posts about people with bleeding gums, wisdom teeth removal and their concerns, mine however involves my wisdom teeth that have come through around 6 months ago, because the skin at the back is broken with the tooth coming through is this considered to be open wound? and a potential way for the virus to get into my blood, my wisdom teeth have never bled or anything like that but I just cant stop panicking about it. Any help or advice would be really appreciated.
Avatar n tn I am going to have my impacted wisdom tooth and another descending wisdom tooth pulled. They just came in. I have been having nothing but pains in my sinus/tooth/ear area ever since having a deep filling done, which turned into a root canal. It has been more than 2 months and I still feel awful? I am terrified to have the wisdom tooth surgery. Any chance my pains are related? I still have sensitivity in the root canal tooth, which my dentist told me was not possible. Ugh.
Avatar f tn Its safe to get wisdom tooth out when pregnant im ONly 6 week and My tooth is coming out so its very painful is ir safe to take out
Avatar n tn I had 2 wisdom teeth extracted on nov 20th. Number 1 was taken to save the tooth next to it(recommended by my dentist-asap) The other one was recommended by the oral surgeon (to whom I was referred) Although there was no immediate problem, the doctor thought one might happen later - sometime.
Avatar f tn Why doesn't he just fill the cavity? I never heard of pulling a tooth because of a tiny cavity. My dentist doesn't work like that. I lost one wisdom tooth because I injured it but the other three are fine and dandy and I intend to keep them. I don't understand this pull happy approach.
Avatar n tn After looking at the area in a mirror I noticed that there was swelling of the inside of the cheek along the tooth line and a white fleshy lump hanging off the back of the jaw over the lower wisdom tooth. Every time I chew I have to be careful in order to prevent biting down on the skin. It is not very large and it is painful.
Avatar m tn Could it possibly be a jaw bone fracture related to the wisdom tooth extraction? If so, what should I expect from a pain standpoint? How long is the healing process? Etc... Any advice and/or insight is greatly appreciated. Havn't eaten much in 3 weeks, lost over 25 pounds the hard way! Thanks for your help!
Avatar n tn i got my wisdom teeth pulled about two months ago but where my lower left one was removed there is a sharp portrution like a piece of tooth was left in the hole and there is some pain to is this something i should be concerned with.
Avatar f tn Almost 2 years ago I had my lower left wisdom tooth removed, ever since I have had problems with my jaw. My jaw now pops, clicks, grinds, and makes crunching noises as well as locks. It causes me a lot of pain at times and seems to now be very sensitive to cold weather. I also notice that when opening and closing my mouth it seems like the alignment of my jaw is wrong, the right side appears to pop out when my mouth opens and the left does not.
