6323602 tn?1380323698 If there is not much room for the wisdom teeth to come through, they become impacted and can be extremely painful with facial swelling and throat problems. It may be wise to see the dentist or the doctor for an antibiotic as you are having difficulty swallowing. You won't experience facial swelling after the wisdom teeth are removed, but it will take a few weeks for the gums where the wisdom teeth have been extracted, to heal.
Avatar f tn A couple of years ago, my dentist informed me that my wisdom teeth needed to be removed as soon as possible. I have still not had them removed and the far/upper region of my lower right jaw (near/below and the area around my wisdom tooth) is where I occassionally experience pain and swelling. Could my sore throat have anything to do with the wisdom tooth on the lower portion of the right side of my jaw? Or are the two wholly unrelated?
Avatar f tn A mild swelling may occur in many cases. Here I found information on wisdom teeth ( www.webdentist.
Avatar m tn First off, I have been having swelling on the left side of my neck for some time now. I have suspected that it was my wisdom teeth causing this because I have needed them pulled for some time now. My top wisdom teeth are decayed and falling apart(They are so hard to take care of!) and do occassionally have pain in them when I bite down on them. but the bottom ones are coming in really crooked and dont have any pain from them.
Avatar f tn I'm sorry you're having the wisdom tooth pain! There are no doctors on this forum, just people dealing with Chronic Pain, supporting eachother and answering questions to the best of our knowlege. I had a wisdom tooth grow in completely in one quadrant on my mouth. I had had a tooth out on that side and the wisdom tooth filled in the space. It's possible that your tooth may grow in, but in some cases they are impacted and have to be taken out by an oral surgeon.
Avatar m tn Thanks Doctor Tsang, It has been about 6 months since my last dental checkup. My wisdom teeth have all been removed.
Avatar dr m tn All four of my wisdom teeth had to go - no room for them! I had one incisor extracted because it was horizontal and didn't come in properly - space issue? And I don't know if this fits into the picture, but if you judged the reaction from dentists and hygienists, I must have the world's largest tori! They always comment on the size. The periodontist commented that is I had oral surgery they should reduce them. Perhaps that comes from small mouth structure too?
Avatar f tn After getting your wisdom teeth pulled, you are likely to experience pain and swelling or there may be some bleeding. While your mouth heals, you have to be careful not to dislodge the blood clot or harm your healing gums. For more concern, I would suggest you to visit to a surgeon with whom you have your teeth surgery.
Avatar m tn When there is no room, or very little room in the jaw, top or bottom, the wisdom teeth have no room to grow through and can cause a lot of pain and swelling. If you feel this could be a wisdom tooth trying to come through, you will need to see your dentist. The other possibility is swollen glands or a blocked salivary gland which may be a viral or a bacterial infection, and if this is the case you will need to see your doctor. Let me know how you get on.
Avatar n tn I had my wisdom teeth pulled, and everything went to plan. I had pain for about 1 and a half weeks. Then all my pain went away and i slowy used my jaw more, and started doing my regular day to day activities. Then suddenly about 4 weeks after the surgery i have had extreme pain on my lower right side of my jaw. It just started back up, out of no where. I didnt hit it, or accidentaly chew something hard. Also when i was recovering after the surgery my lower right side took the longest to recover.
Avatar f tn My husband is 21 and the dentist says he needs his wisdom teeth taken out. They are not impacted but they are growing in crooked and will not grow out all the way and are causing a bacteria build up. If we wait until they all pierce through the skin can he simply get them pulled and not have oral surgery.
Avatar n tn should I be worried? I have no fever, no soar throat. Sum minor headaches(which could be from wisdom teeth) since ive started taking the antibiotics and iburprofeen ive experience some diahara & some stomach pain is this normal? if it was some sort of serious infection would it be more noticable?
Avatar n tn I recently had my wisdom teeth out, and since then I've had tinnitus in both ears that seems to come and go but is never completely gone. I only had two wisdom teeth, both on the bottom. In the days before the surgery I had some eruption pain, and the teeth were fully impacted, and I had some mild tinnitus. However, after I got them out, the tinnitus has gotten much worse.
Avatar m tn None of my fiance's wisdom teeth are impacted, but one of them is partially erupted, and he got some food caught between the tooth and gum, which led to an infection. It was minor, according to his dentist (I asked if it could be life threatening and she laughed), and she said there was a very small abscess which went away. He took penicillin and did topical antimicrobial and he says he feels totally fine now. (he never had a fever or swollen lymph nodes- just some swelling at the gum).
Avatar m tn I want to know why is it necessary to remove wisdom teeth? What are positives except that removing wisdom teeth will not affect other teeth lining and may prevent chances of infection around wisdom teeth? What are negative sides? I am tired of this procedure or that procedure and going to here and there, and now this. I don’t want to complain but I am already struggling with poor general health, stress, anxiety and insomnia and my GP is no help.

Avatar n tn Yesterday, I had three molars removed, two of them wisdom teeth. I also had to have a sinus flap done after the removal of the top molars. I was given antibiotics and Vicodin to take, which I have done so on schedule. So far I've felt ZERO pain. The post-op instructions all say to keep an ice pack on for swelling, which I have not used because there is no swelling so far.
Avatar f tn I got my wisdom teeth removed 2 days ago and my swelling hasn’t went down. When I checked my mouth I had a yellow bump on top of the area where I removed my wisdom tooth there’s no pain but it is veryuncomfortable. I take my antibiotics I have been prescribed and follow the doctors instructions. Should I be worried?
Avatar n tn I have all four wisdom teeth and have never had a problem, there was enough room for them all to come in without bothering any other teeth. On the top two, they are both broken in half. Until now, neither has given me any problem. My husbands work insurance is coming in in a month so I will be getting my teeth taken care of but until then I have a problem. On my left upper side, it was excrutiatingly painful, the gum around the tooth was swelling, there was pus/blood, and excess saliva.

Avatar m tn I found a forum where people felt the same way and felt better when they had their impacted wisdom teeth removed. I have 3 wisdom teeth and the one on the top is pushing on my sinus track. Could this be causing my lightheartedness? None of my wisdom teeth hurt or are giving me any trouble.
1842266 tn?1318860459 i dont have fever , I dont have an abscess my gums dont bleed i have no swelling its just basically decaying teeth. I just fear they are causing damage without me knowing . So again just some serious symptoms not to ignore.
Avatar f tn I forget if it was TMJ or not, but I finally went to a dentist about it and he said because all four of my wisdom teeth were growing horizontally into the molars in front of them underneath the gumline, that if I had them removed (or at the very least the upper ones removed), I would stop having the jaw lock up on me. It's been 6 years and I haven't once had it happen since the upper wisdom teeth came out. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Generally speaking, 99% of of all wisdom teeth surgery patient's have no swelling or lingering effects from their surgery within 7 days. That being said, I am a Board Certified Surgeon and have done tens of thousands of Wisdom teeth. Like any other healthcare professional, some are better and more experienced than others. This does not mean that your dentist necessarily did anything wrong. In the US, all licensed dentists are permitted to extract teeth.
