lipitor

Avatar n tn I assume you are taking 20mg in the morning and 20mg in the evening? This is really pointless. Lipitor is well known to work while you are sleeping, because the Liver makes most cholesterol at this time. Other statin brands can be taken at any time, probably because they sit in the blood for longer or something, but Lipitor strictly instruct you to take in the evening.
Avatar n tn t take plavix in the morning and in the evening take lopressor 50mg and lipitor 80mg. I had been at least 4 hours since i took these two medication lopressor and lipitor. Is it ok to take zantac 150mg for heart burn .

Avatar n tn My instructions say to take it at bedtime. I read that cholestrol is made during the night, but of course I don't know if that's true.
Avatar n tn I also take Atenolol, Imdur, Lisinopril, Aspirin and several other non-heart related drugs spanning the same time frame.I was told that I would be on both the Plavix and Lipitor as well as the others for the rest of my life. This comes from top cardiologists in Boston.
Avatar n tn thank you so much. Another question - my husband has recently been diagnosed with hemochromatosis - boy are we getting the run around! he's been for six phlembotomies, has cut back on red meat, quit taking vitamin C, is already fit for his 57 years and is keeping that up, and is making an attempt at cutting back on the alchohol. He's just been back to the doctor who has told him not to take milk thistle but didn't say why.
Avatar n tn On my own a week ago, I stopped the lipitor and the lipitor only. For the first time in 5 yrs i have no more hives. Why is there not more articles published or side effects like mine posted for lipitor??? What is your feeling on the hives from Lipitor??
Avatar f tn So instead of taking another beta blocker in the morning I waited and took it in the evening. I am on once daily dosing. Since then I have taken it in the evening. Should switching from morning to evening dosing effect anything? I have noticed in the evening now before time for my pill, my heart seems to be beating faster, checked tonight and it was 87. Know that isn't tachy but I'm used to it being in the 70s. Guess that is just because the meds are wearing off?
Avatar f tn Drug interactions should be checked with your physician and on the website for the manufacturer of lipitor. It's hard to see why there would be a problem , but that's why we must check. Now, whether lipitor is safe or you need the extra chromium, I have more questions about, but I'll leave that alone!
Avatar m tn It's funny you should say that. I ran out of lipitor (40mg a day) and it took my GP 3 days to get a repeat prescription sorted out. A lot of my pains seem to vanish. I don't know if you get the same thing, it's a kind of annoying ache in the lower chest area and it's very difficult to tell if it's the heart or the stomach. It's always there but sometimes increases in waves. As soon as I resumed the lipitor, the pains returned. Coincidence?
Avatar n tn I drink socially and take liptor and was wondering in that I only drink in the evenings if it's better to take the lipitor in the morning in order for the liver to metabolize the alcohol at night. Or is the liver simply distributed evenly over a 24 hour period making the time you take it with alcohol irrelevant. Does drinking 1.5 - 2.0 oz of scotch or bourbon within an hour or two of taking 20 mg of Lipitor create an elevated risk of Liver or Kidney dysfunction?
Avatar n tn Recently while I was driving in Jakarta and saw a banner promoting heart CT scan. I took this chance and did the scan. I was told by the local doctor my calcium score was 252. She wanted me to see a Cardiologist as soon as possible. The next day I did see the local Cardiologist. He did a normal stress test ( without ECHO) and said I was OK and requested me to take a baby Asprin daily. I went to Australia last week and saw another Cardiologist for a seconed opinion.
10996785 tn?1432812977 I realize that some people may not like the talking about lipitor in this way. Some people may not think my problems are as bad as I say. They are. I can hardly move anymore. What makes matters worse is that stopping the med doesn't take away the side effects very quickly. I want to thank everybody for your concerns and help in identifying my problems. I'm tapped out right now. Hopefully this is the last that you all will hear me complaining about my health issues.
Avatar f tn How it should be stopped depends on largely why it was stopped. If he was having another side affect of Lipitor, he would certainly not want to be on it any longer than absolutely necessary. Headache is not an uncommon side affect of Lipitor. Other reported side affects include muscle aches, tenderness and weakness. These symptoms are particularly concerning when they accompany fevers. The reported frequency of various side affects are as follows: Headache -- reported in up to 16.
Avatar m tn I would be interested to know why your doctor wants you off the meds as well. Has he seen something in a blood test or trying to save you money? Let us know.
Avatar m tn I have had some intense muscle and joint pain in the past, which is why my doctor has been changing my statin type and dosage. We're trying to find the right combo. I have a history of CAD and PAD, have had a femoral stent, and am a smoker.(59 yo male, btw). Does anyone know if I can substitute 20 mg Lipitor for my 20 mg Simvastatin, which I just ran out of? I have some Lipitor in the cabinet and my doc is going to put me on Vytorin in 11 days.
Avatar f tn Cirrhosis results in a greater resistance to the blood flowing into the liver and it then seeks alternative routes that are less restrictive. The blood can flow into the vessels in the esophagus. The vessels can then become distended and are prone to rupture. Varices can also develop in the stomach - gastric varices - and can also rupture. They can burst which causes a major bleed or in other cases they can trickle blood.
Avatar n tn He said that the same amount of medication was in the middle of the pill, they simply increased the coating. The only people who can really answer questions about whether you can dissolve pills or crush them etc, are the drug manufacturers because they hold all the details about delivery and break down times etc. I wouldn't just risk it. I take 40mg of Lipitor and have again found they seem to come in a variety of forms.

Avatar f tn My feverish feeling in the evenings and tiredness is a recent symptom. The feverishness that starts in the evening everyday like a clock goes on for several months and stops. I am pushed to different doctors or given a reason for fibromyalgia and depression. I DON'T have depression. I don't know about the first one. I have not been tested for it yet. Lot of people have the symptoms I have with a little variation. My thermometer reads normal or even bellow normal most times.
620048 tn?1358018235 d with MS, so who knows if the aches and twitches were from the Lipitor or the MS. I felt like I was coming down with the flu. The problems did stop pretty quick after I stopped the lipitor. Stopping these drugs does not require a taper, from everything I know. My cardio knew I was stopping the Lipitor and did not advise the taper either. From all I know, lipitor and other statins do not cause bruising either.
305544 tn?1197997610 Hello everyone, I was wondering if most of you feel better at any certain time of the day. I have noticed that I feel my best in the evening, and the worst in the mornings when I am attempting to get ready for the day. I know that perhaps the warm shower may pose a problem, but I am sometimes really cold and it takes a while for my to warm up. I go to my regular Dr. on Monday. Any suggestions or important questions you think I should ask?
Avatar f tn 2 - re the TIA - first I was told that it was due some clots that formed around the stent that broke away, travelled through my arteries and blocked somewhere and that caused the stroke. But doctors seem to be puzzled as to why this happened when I have the Plavix and Aspirin 3 - I am to see a haematologist (blood doctor) - why? something wrong with my blood (such as a clotting disorder) and this could have caused the clot?
