Avatar n tn It's a great addition. Yoga tends to be more mussel building and toning your body, when working out to loose weight you need a good combination of cardio and body toning. I love doing Yoga and it's very helpful to me, but if I didn't walk/run on a treadmill I wouldn't have lost any weight.

Avatar f tn Can anyone give me some super toning leg (thigh) exercises? Most of my body is absolutely fine but my upper/inner thighs are still a little flabby and I can't stand it!! I run 3-4 times a week but I find it difficult, I can jog 4km and that's a bit difficult and I can run for 2km. I know that's pretty bad but it's also getting a bit too warm to be running, so ANY toning thigh exercises would be appreciated!

Avatar f tn You simply cannot transform fat tissue into muscle! Muscle mass and fat are totally different! Muscle is active tissue that burns calories around the clock even as you sleep, When you move around, you burn more calories, just like a car will consume more gas the faster you go. Fat, on the other hand, is just a storage of excess energy. It does nothing but sit there with its sole goal in life to be a spare tire around your waist until you put in the effort to burn it off.

Studies show that the best results for your toning is by changing the routine of your workout, so do a different ab video,everyday! Also for some people every other day of working out shows better results. That's up to you! For a diet there are certain foods like pine apple that supposedly take away blotting in the stomach. Avatar f tn And I agree with Barb, you can't spot burn fat but you can target specific areas for muscle gain but unless you're a body builder it's best to do exercises that build multiple muscles. Isolation exercises are to help with muscle imbalances or fine tuning your physique like a professional bodybuilder. Do the exercises that give you the biggest bang for your buck.

You can check out YouTube for tons of free videos on how to use smaller hand weights to tone the arms and back muscles, as well as videos on toning the thighs... Walking will help tone the whole body... A healthy diet with reasonable calories will help you lose weight.
Avatar f tn Walking burns fat, as long as you keep a good brisk pace for at least 30-60 min. Yoga helps build muscle (which burns fat) and is great for toning. You can do a google search for different yoga videos, that you can watch for free, in order to learn how to do it. Don't worry if you can't do as well as the person in the video -- they've been doing it for a long time; do the best you can and you'll realize that as you do it, you get better.

You don't say how tall you are, so we don't know if you need to lose weight or just tone up. Since you have had 3 children, it's possible that what you consider to be "fat" is not fat at all; maybe your stomach has stretched? Try doing some toning exercises such as sit ups, crunches - how about yoga?

Avatar n tn As mentioned by brianbriany0 swimming is a good way to go coupled with yoga. Swim daily and if possible, for an hour. If it is too much for you, start with half an hour and increase it to 1 hour by the end of the week. Now instead of a pre cardio warmout do Yoga and then go for a swim, I hope yo will get a toned body within a month as you desire. Keep your diet in check, eat healthy. No need to avoid eating, thats counterproductive.
Avatar f tn Instead of trying to lose weight, why not spend the next month working on toning those muscles? Yoga is one of the best types of exercise for toning muscles. There are tons of videos on YouTube that show you how to do it. It teaches balance, breathing and stretching. Try spending 30 min/day at it. It makes your muscles feel long and lean.
Avatar f tn You might look into trying to fit in some yoga, 3-4 times/week. Yoga is excellent for toning and strengthening muscles. It stretches your muscles and leaves you with a "long and lean" feeling, because you tend to have better posture. There are some excellent yoga videos on YouTube; check them out and see if you might be able to get interested. Aside from that, make sure you don't drink sodas, eat candy, pastries and other sugary things that are simply empty calories.

You can check out YouTube for tons of videos on yoga poses. Yoga emphasizes balance, breathing and relaxation. It works a lot on core muscles. Sounds like something for old folks, but it's really not.
Avatar f tn You might look into yoga or pilates - both are excellent for toning muscles. Walking is always good. I found a "Walk" video on YouTube that I really like, plus I have a couple of Walk DVD's. On top of that, I walk with my neighbor, approximately 2.5 miles/day. A good brisk walk is really good for toning muscles in the legs and butt.
Avatar f tn Fast workouts aren't always the answer. Walking is an excellent exercise; it will tone up your belly, legs, hips, thighs, so cellulite isn't so obvious. Aim for at least 30 minutes/day, but more if you have time (minimum 30 min/day, 3 days/week). You don't have to run or job, just go at a good brisk clip. If you carry a resistance band, you can work your arms, shoulders, back all at the same time. Yoga is also good for toning, tightening.
Avatar n tn -) All excerise should be tapered down in the last trimester - to walking and Yoga etc. There are some good books out there for pregnancy that explains why which exercises one should or should not do and for how long and why. But talk to some doctors or fitness consultants that specialize in pre and post pregnancy health and wellbeing. I was an extreme sport enthusiatic athelete before I got pregnant.
