Avatar f tn Ive heard whey is good from many people but theres just so manh different whey proteins out there
Avatar n tn Whey protein will not affect your thyroid function. It comes from cows milk and is a by-product of the cheese making process. Soy would be a problem, that is too much soy.
Avatar n tn When I first consumed whey protein by itself, it happened. My body would twitch a little bit afterwards. Also, I would tend to go hypoglycemic from the whey. As I would fall asleep, I would feel a major jolt and my body would lurch a bit out of the bed. It took me quite some time to figure out that it was actually whey that caused it.
Avatar f tn Red meat makes HE worse and I get my protein from whey added to sugar-free carnation instant breakfast and I eat poached eggs and toast for lunch and a salad with turkey and cheese with an egg usually in the evening. For snacks I still eat the whey which Is unflavored and I can add it to anything. They wanted me to get it from plant based products, fish, chicken and turkey, cheese and eggs. I was a mess and they threatened me with a feeding tube.
Avatar f tn I tried googling this earlier in my pregnancy and didn't like what I found... that none are really "good" for me or baby right now. I went with veggie & fruit smoothies and used soy milk as it had higher protein content (vs other but mills). But I want to know if anyone else has found out anything else!
Avatar f tn I added whey protein to the mix today and now my heartburn is back. Whey is supposed to be super easy to digest. Has anyone else had problems with whey protein?
1464587 tn?1307491605 What do you recommend more to avoid inflammation and flare ups, whey protein or vegan protein supplements? Are protein supplements safe to take while on prednisone and hidroxocloroquine? I feel because of my cut I'm losing more muscle than I want beacuse I don't take any protein supplements, only food rich with protein.
Avatar m tn From what I have read so far, they suggest whey protein isolate over whey protein concentrate. They say isolate has more protein but from natural factors website, it's suggested that isolate are treated with heat and are somewhat denatured. NaturalFactros also say this is why isolate is poor quality than whey protein concentrate. Now both contradict one another. But I believe concentrate is better since it is treated with less heat and other chemical process etc. What do you think?
Avatar f tn Whey protein powder is better.
10389360 tn?1410823968 I love making fruity and delicious protein shakesfor breakfast but have been reading mixed reviews about whey protein. I havent been to my OB yet, but my dr said to stick to my diet. Forgot to mention the powder. Thoughts?
Avatar m tn I have started training for gaining muscles, but i am not sure if i should be using whey protein as i heard that if i stop working out later at some point in time, I will start putting on weight!!! Is this a side effect of taking whey protein and discontinuing its use??? Moreover, does intake of whey protein interfere with the blood tests done to check the thyroid profile? answers to these questions will be a great favor and highly appreciated.
971283 tn?1247767572 Hi I don't think theres any doubt that whey protein can cause joint swelling in some people who use it, in my experience I started to take whey protein powder and experienced swelling in my fingers, my middle finger in particular seems to swell right up, I stopped taking the whey after a while as i had suspensions as the swelling only started on taking whey, and sure enough the swelling went away, tried again a couple more times in the coming months and both times the swelling came back, ne
Avatar f tn Weight gainers are typically higher in protein than whey protein supplements. However, the protein content comprises a significantly larger percentage of whey protein supplements than weight gainers. A lower-calorie weight gainer may contain 35 grams of protein, while a higher-calorie weight gainer may supply 100 grams of protein. However, given calorie amounts of 620 and 1,860, the protein comprises just 22.5 and 21.5 percent of the calories in these gainers.
Avatar m tn I got off of Whey and started taking Egg Protein powders as my staple protein, and at night now I drink 1 Casein shake right before bed. After not taking Whey for a month or so the anxiety went away, in fact I decided to only take Whey right after workouts, but no other time, and the anxiety still has not come back. So yes, you are not crazy, yes there is a solution to get lots of protein without suffering the anxiety. GL guys, I will post my little protein chart at the bottom as a reminder.
Avatar m tn Hello and welcome to MedHelp forums. We can't advise anything that is contradictory to six doctor's opinions. In general, whey is a protein that comes from cow's milk. Manufactured whey will have the same impact and unfortunately, isn't suitable for all based on digestive issues. With whey protein, there can be an increased incidence of diarrhea. As ulcerative colitis also has issues with diarrhea, you can probably see how that would possibly impact you negatively.
Avatar f tn I would ask your Dr before using whey or casein protein powder... I'm sure it wouldn't do any harm every once in a while but it'd be best to check with them first.
