Wow, I'm glad you are in remission. I assume they did a biopsy of the tumor and it was hpv 16 positive. Did you have any idea you had HPV 16 before tour diagnosis? What stage anf symptoms did you have?
Most head and neck cancer from HPV occurs in the tonsils or base of tongue area, but it's all connected (nose, mouth, throat) and hpv seems to sometimes manifest in areas where there was seemingly no contact.
Some doctors give you the drink to drink at home and then you go to the lab to get your blood drawn an hour after drinking it. I think the main practice now is to have you drink it at the lab, sit there for an hour, then get blood drawn (that's what I did the last few times I've had this test done). I was allowed to drink water while there, too. You have to chug it, though, so I don't know if they'd let you use a straw.

Fast forward twenty years, I wake one day to a very sore tongue. It eventually centers in the the tip of my tongue, right below where I had lost feeling. It feels like I have a bubble in there. There is no visible lump and you can not see much more than a raised section when I flex my tongue tip. As I talk, that area gets very stiff. It then aches - like a Charlie horse. It Nearly freezes my tongue and it hurts! I have been to 3 ENT’s, my dentist, oral surgeon and even my GP.
I think even though it looks bad all the girls are trying to get answers, advice and help. Especially if they are first time mothers this is a place where we are all trying to understand what we can and can't do. You look on the Internet and find conflicting advice so some girl's would rather ask someone who might know the answer or get advice.

Katla, if that were possible wouldn't Gilead or Bristol have been able to "duplicate" each others drugs already. Bristol tried to "duplicate" 7977 with BMS-094 and that resulted in death and permanent heart and kidney problems with at least 11 people in the trials. Gilead is "attempting" to "duplicate" daclatasvir with their GS-5885, but the combination has to be partnered with ribavirin and/or interferon to get even a small percentage of SVRs.
I am back on a low dose of subs at least until I see the MD in a month. I have no real reason to get off of it except after this incident, I am scared to death to be "hooked" on such a powerful drug after so much work in treatment and recovery since I have been out..Guess I just need to change my mindset about sobriety at this point. I am taking it as prescribed and that is the best I can do for now. I will keep you all updated when I do make the leap.
