Common Questions and Answers about When to take prometrium for pregnancy

prometrium

Avatar f tn the pregnancy if it is a healthy, normal pregnancy to start with. Nature will take its course if the fetus is not viable and prometrium will not interfere with this process.
Avatar f tn had any of u taken prometrium after a HPT for 12 weeks of ur pregnancy. i'm hopeful this time, just ovulated.... i had 2 miscarriages, so waiting for this time to be a +ve one.
Avatar f tn I did have a mc before my daughter and it does take at least 8 months for us to get pg in the first place but I have NEVER heard of Prometrium being taken after the first trimester. In fact it is usually NOT recommended during pregnancy since it can lead to birth defect (at least that's what I have found out). I can't contact my doc before wednesday and I am VERY concerned about starting this right away (technically I will be 18 weeks tomorrow, Tuesday).
211043 tn?1337050701 Yes ma'am!!! Progesterone always made my breasts huge and sore. It has been a few months since I've been on it, but yes, I can completly relate to your symptoms! As for the "don't take when pregnant" label, this is how it was explained to me: taking progesterone supplements then abruptly stopping them is a way that a doctor can use to make you start AF, thus, they need to put that label on there.
1262373 tn?1281543782 Yes, Prometrium would not force a period.
Avatar f tn low progesterone and wants me to take 200 mg of prometrium by mouth at night. I am VERY sensitive to meds and pick out all side effects...I am concerned that i will feel dizzy and that will make me panic-I know i need to take the med for the preg but, if I am dizzy I will be a complete mess-anyone out there NOT get dizzy because that is all I read about it on the internet!!!!!!!
Avatar n tn On Tuesday I was told my Saturday Progesterone levels were 17-very good. OB said to keep taking Prometrium and to take it twice daily due to bleeding. He said U/S would not show anything yet. Tuesday afternoon my bleeding stopped and did not start again until Wednesday morning. It is now Wednesday evening and my bleeding has stopped again. I was wondering if taking the Prometrium at night and in the morning could be triggering bleeding? This is not like any miscarriage I have ever had.
Avatar f tn She schedule me to take some test to take . On 14 my cycle visited and was very weird . her instructions for the prometrium is to take on cycle day 16 and continue to take until a cycle comes. I stopped taking the prometrium th week before I called her. On th 23, I was told that I didn't ovulated at all. Could you explain your intake on the prometrium process to me so I could have a better understanding how it works. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I meet with her on the 23rd to see if I like her, and to see what she can do to help make me feel better for the next pregnancy. I know that it's going to be VERY hard until I deliver another baby. I think I'm ovulating now, so hopefully in 2 weeks we'll start to try again. I'm only 25 and both my husband and I seem to be very fertile. I had my miscarriage at about 11 1/2 weeks, but the baby stopped developing at 6 1/2, it was a missed miscarriage. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I was in prometrium 200mg once a day with my 3rd pregnancy..and still i m/c at 17&1/2 weeks, when they u/s me, the baby don't show movement and no heart beat.. I should only take the prometrium for first 12 weeks, but my OB told me to continued the left pills, they last till my 15&1/2weeks and on that same day we heard my baby's heart's beating.. what do you think is the reason why my pregnancy stopped at above said weeks. is it bec.
Avatar n tn ve heard that when you are pregnant, your blood vessels dilate and I wonder if my headache is related to prometrium or possible pregnancy. When I first started prometrium, I was exhausted, but I got over that in 2 days. Since then, I've had no side effects except for these headaches. Has anyone experienced this before?
Avatar n tn The doctor prescribed prometrium for her. She is scared to death to take the medication because it has a strong warning on the label "DO NOT TAKE IF PREGNANT OR ANTICIPATE GETTING PREGNANT. Why would the doctor prescribe prometrium if the twin is OK at this time?
175665 tn?1306459024 So I called and talked to the NP on call and she talked to the on call doctor and they decided to call in a script for Prometrium to be on the safe side. I have never used this before and was just wondering from experienced users. I am not sure how far along I am yet, I m/c 5w2d ago, didn't get AF and I have no idea when I O'd because I had NO signs of it. So I know I am early in the game so this is good. Hace you had good experiences with this? Any side effects?
1169053 tn?1278116232 I was instruted to only take the inserts endometroim. I had my 2nd IUI today so now in the 2 WW.
Avatar n tn I am 21 weeks and have had to take Prometrium orally ever since week 8 of my pregnancy for low levels of progesterone, also after having 3 miscarraiges within the last year. The diagnosis was a Luteal Phase Defect. I am currently still on the Prometrium although I only take 100 mgs everyother day as oppossed to the 200 mgs I was taking daily up until weeks 16.
1262373 tn?1281543782 I would have asked my doc these questions but I thought that it was the same a plain progesterone which I have taken before. Also for the Poll If you took prometrium and it helped you conceive did you get a boy or a girl!! We are using shettles method to sway for a boy. We have 2 girls.
182352 tn?1231183410 hi everyone. i am 5 wks pregnant & my OBGYN just prescribed prometrium for low progestrone, and metformin ( the generic form of glucophage), due to my body not processing sugar properly. the prometrium bottle says DO NOT TAKE WHILE PREGNANT. i have read up on this & it seems to be a very common & helpful drug to take during early pregnancy. has anyone taken both, or either 1 alone while pregnant? my 1st pregnancy was a breeze & i hate taking anything during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn t work out, it had nothing to do with prometrium. There are so many women on here who took it during pregnancy to have all turn out just fine. Its a pretty common thing to give us "older" expecting moms. I already have a prescription for it as I am to start taking it again as soon as I get another positve pregnancy test. As far as I know its perfectly safe to take during pregnancy. Also, congrats on being through your first trimester!
Avatar f tn Many people take that med in pregnancy and if your dr tells you to take it i would absolutely take it. Most women who have low progesterone in pregnancy and do not take this med go on to miscarry or have a still birth. I have never known anyone to have problems with their baby due to taking this med. If you have low progesterone you will be at high risk for miscarriage or still birth without this medication even in the second trimester.
Avatar n tn Having a black and blue tush for several months is not fun but sometimes you just have to grin and bear it to do what is best for baby.
623920 tn?1276478891 t have a clear O day, how long should I wait to be for sure I am not pregnant? Also if I continue on the prometrium will my Af eventually come? If I stop the prometrium too soon and am possibly pregnant would I lose the baby?
637951 tn?1257270344 When I took prometrium 3 years ago, it took about 12 or 14 days to get my period. I only had one cycle since I got pregnant with my son on the second round. Good luck!!!
1221453 tn?1281092342 nt have to take it with this pregnancy, but i had to take it with my last pregnancy. I think that they kept me on it for 12 weeks and then I went off. i did fine coming off of it no side effect and no problems with the baby, he was born happy and healthy. i was a little nervous coming off of it, but your body shuold be able to take over caring for the baby without help now and your chances of a miscarriage at this point are pretty low!
Avatar f tn my first concern is that I have no clue if and when I ovulate every month. I am trying to chart temps (for ~4months now), and they are all over the place...
