Common Questions and Answers about When does concerta kick in

concerta

Avatar f tn Probably not related. You may have picked it up though while in the doctor's office or in the pharmacy when you were purchasing your concerta.
Avatar n tn I have an 8 year old son that can not control his bowel movements. He's always soiling in his pants and when I ask him why he says it just comes out. He's been on Concerta for a little over a year now and I'm not sure if this is what's causing the problem. Does anyone have the same problem?
Avatar n tn Strattera is a treatment for ADHD that is not in the psychostimulant family of medications. It does not suppress appetite and is quite an effective medication, particularly for those children who are inattentive but not hyperactive.
Avatar f tn My 13 year old daughter has been experiencing pain in her joints, mostly her knees and ankles, mild twitching and just overall not feeling her best. The rheumoto;ogist couldn't really find anything wrong and didn't know what her symptoms suggested. The pain does not stay in her knees or ankles, though. Sometimes, it's her back or shoulders or her feet or her hands. She says that sometimes her hands get tingly. She is on Concerta for ADHD and has been for about 2 years.
1523516 tn?1330044257 When I went to see the MS Specialist in January, he gave me Ritalin for my memory/focus and it's also supposed to help with fatigue, giving me more energy. I am thinking it must take a while for it to kick in. After taking it in the mornings I feel a bit dizzy and "out of it" and then I feel better about an hour or two later. Still very fatigued and focus is about the same, a bit better I guess.
Avatar f tn adderall and concerta both have seizures as a side effect along with other bad side effects, and so do all other medicines. you can to see if it is worth the risk. Have you tried taken vitamins like omega 3 and vitamins b6. most drugs ware off. best of luck to you.
Avatar f tn Concerta does not cause the enlarged heart, but definitely increases the heart rate and causes other chest pains, so cardiovascular monitoring is a MUST with all the ADHD-drug taking children. My son has a 5-6 mm hole in his heart and we get Eco every year, just because he is taking Concerta. So far, we were lucky and did not have to suspend taking it. If they say it - keep him off of it. I am sorry to say that.
Avatar m tn My prescription ran out and I used a concerta my concern is if I have a urine test or hair follicle test will the methylphenidate in the concerta show up? Concerta is not my prescribed medicine.
Avatar n tn My son is taking Concerta 36mg. in the AM...and an afternoon dose of 10mg methylphenidate...HE DOES NOT HAVE AN Appetite...He says No thank You to EVERYTHING FOOD That I offer him since starting these meds.... He is 10 years old and have always had a great appetite.....HELP ....
Avatar m tn In addition I am tapering off diazepam and down to 2mg in the morning and 1 at night. Everytime I try to get off the concerta I get terrible anxiety from it. I have it to a degree while on it also. I want off but my dr who takes 3 weeks to get into anyway, won’t switch me to a med I can taper off of. I know 3 weeks is a short time compared to what most of you have been through. But can someone please tell me how long my withdrawals are going to last??
Avatar f tn I can see being on V and perhaps adderall in the late after noon. Or concerta and ritalin in the late afternoon. Since the Concerta/ritalin are the same type of meds. Same thing for Vyvannse and Adderall. Point being, why was the V not working for you? What symptoms did you have. I would think that the two could have been over dosing you. Did you ever try just V alone?
Avatar m tn I have turned in these prescriptions mostly to the same pharmacy, but when at Walmart I have turned them in there. When turning in my last prescription, the pharmacist stated she would not fill out the script because I have gone to Walmart and my prescription has been given to me too early. She gave me my script back, and it's still in my wallet. I've in the past turned in the script early and they told me what day I can pick it up. So, I'm thinking I've been red flagged.
Avatar m tn Concerta comes in 18,27,36, and 54 mg in the US.

Avatar f tn At age 5 he was diagnosed with pretty sever ADHD. We started on Strattera and after two weeks he violently attacked me...We then went to Concerta then to Focalin then back to Concerta....not ever obtaining great control of ADHD. He additionally was put on Prozac about a year ago for anxiety as he was chewing the skin off his fingers until they would bleed and chew huge blisters on his lips. Three weeks ago, the Psychiatrist added in Intuniv...OH MY GOSH...
982251 tn?1248781387 Look up drug side effects for concerta. Maybe changing the medication might help, and it does take some time for the medication and there side effects to clear their system.
Avatar n tn I was having the same issues as you with these two it seemed when 7 p.m. came every night like clock work my kids turned in to monsters like the warewolf does when the sun goes down in the movies .There was no order and the fighting and hitting and screaming and jumping and total disrespect to others in the house the entire 9 yards !So the Dr add a dose of Risperdal at night to help curve the extreme behavior changes when the pill wore off .
Avatar n tn Join the Marines. In the old days a man would say you need a swift kick in the *** and a good hard job to make a man out of you. And don't let anyone stamp you with the lable of "ADHD.
Avatar f tn My.soon got kicked out of 3rd grade for chasing a kid w a razor threatening to kill the poor kid. In k4 that's when his signs started. He was kicking the teacher. Running through the school building. I didn't know what was going on. My husband said he's a boy..I'm like the other lil boys aren't acting like this. He was tested for a couple days at at hospital. Then they told me he had adhd & odd. I didn't medicate til 2nd grade. It was light night and day.
Avatar f tn I have child that was also on Concerta 36. There are two types of this medication. Concerta and Concerta CR which is controller release, I believe it was called. However, I found that concerta is not a very effective drug for dealing with ADHD. You might want to have the school give her the second dose at 1pm at school, this way it will avoid the medicine lapsing while she is at school.
Avatar f tn Hello, I lost 15 pounds over the last 3 months. I'm taking Concerta (36 mg- twice per day), Tecfidera (240 mg twice per day) and Brintellix (10 mg). I have no appetite and when I eat everything tastes awful. Concerta and Brintellux are more effective for me versus Modnafinil and Cymbalta. However, I can't afford to lose anymore weight. Additionally, I'm only sleeping about 3 hours per night due to trips to the restroom.
Avatar n tn My son was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 6 and has been on concerta since that time which has helped him tremendously until recently. It's as if the concerta has no effect on him anymore. his doctor said he can't up his dosage to 36 mg because of his weight (he weighs approx 65 pounds). Has anyone ever heard of this? I didn't think the dosage was based on weight.
Avatar m tn I stopped taking it for a while, and about a month ago, went back on the concerta. I take 36mg of extended release in the mornings when I have class or homework to do, and it does help me focus. However, since going back on it, I've noticed that I sometimes can't grasp words. Like I know what I'm talking about/trying to say, but I can't place a word with it. I know this is something that everyone gets, but it's happening with very high frequency when I'm on the concerta.
