Other necessary precautions are to avoid exposure to UV rays, avoid too much alcohol, and not to take tetracycline antibiotics whilst on Accutane or for 5 weeks afterwards. Female Accutane patients must use two forms of contraception whilst on Accutane and for 5 weeks afterwards. I have not changed and products that I use on my face, nor laundry detergent. I wash my face twice daily with only water and use moisturizer right after. Accutane has alot of varied side-effects, but some people don't have adverse reactions. my girlfriend had taken accutane and didn't have any stomach reactions but part of the accutane contract requires birth control regardless of activity. But I know my gf's opinion i: " Accutane is great" It worked for her really well for acne, and she didn't exhibit negative side effects from it.
im on my third and last month of taking 10mg accutane everyday. i was wondering if its ok to use a salicylic acid facewash and moisturiser because 10mg is quite a very low dose.
It is hard to tell whether my acne is worse with the IUD (in about a 1 yr. now) bc for the 5 years prior, my hormones have been in flux due to infertility treatments (approx. 1 yr., 2x), having 2 babies and breastfeeding each for 1 yr. I am now done with all of that. I am spending a lot of money on acne products but the problem persists. Could you please tell me a) do you have any thoughts on whether I should take out my IUD?

yes I have had this all my life but worse in my teens. I don't know if they have the same drugs as here in the US. You don't want to scrub the area, use gentle fragrance free cleanser and gently wash the area. Scrubbing makes it worse. Here we have Accutane, clinidamycin topical, and other drugs. I also used neutorgena face wash then at bed salicylic acid gel or topical. You can use OXY 5 or 10 cream. I'm sure others will have plenty more to help you with.
Hi there, I seem to have a very similar case to dry lips. Have mines for 3-4 yrs now but seems to be getting a bit worst. I've tried EVERYTHING. Have very very dry lips top and bottom, no itching, and at times i get rashes after using various products. Lips get extremely white dry and looks horrible, very embarrassing. Also i have a small red rash or somethn on the head of my penis for months now tht dont go away none of this ever goes away. I also have rarely tingling in my urethra and genital pain. But i was on accutane for 6 months been off of it for almost 2 weeks now. Seems like my anus is still very dry and is uncomfortable and my penile area is also dry. This all pretty much stareted when i was on accutane.
ve been looking for articles regarding the use of accutane in patients with keloid/hypertrophic scarring, but all I can seem to find are horror stories of people taking accutane and going and having laser treatment/dermabrasion resulting in keloid formation. I would never do that to my skin during such a delicate time! I just want to know what to expect of my keloid prone skin *while taking* accutane. I can't find anything on the subject!

PLEASE nobody give me advice to exfoliate, or use a certain soap, or eat a certain food, or sleep more, or hang upside-down....or any other common-sensical, mundane, foolish, witch-craft-ish, herbal...or otherwise foolish advice or something that I obviously would have thought of. this has been going on for half of my 28 yr life...
I took Accutane in the summer of 2001and have not been well since, even after stopping the drug. I never had joint pain prior to taking it. I was a very healthy person. The pain began in my lower back and progressed to all my joints and entire back. When my dermatologist learned of my problems, she stopped the Accutane immediately. She stated back pain was a side effect. I read all the info before taking Accutane, and it never described these symptoms in 2001.
I took accutane about 3 years ago for acne and I have unfortunately had to deal with cluster headaches since. I get them around the fall and have them for 3/4 months then they go away. But it is excruciating pain and I’m convinced the accutane caused this even though I haven’t been on it in 2 years. Help.
