Your late period would have nothing to do with the copper IUD removal, other than if a pregnancy happened. The copper IUD has no hormones in it. I would wait a few days and if your AF hasn't arrived, test again using FMU.

m thinking that maybe the IUD provoked my period early as to why I was bleeding the way I was (does that even happen?).. But I was expecting lots of bleeding as I got closer to my period date which is in 2 days .. but it completely stopped.. I had very very light spotting yesterday morning when I woke up but nothing else.. and this morning still nothing. I have an appointment for the follow up check up with the Dr. on the 18th.. but this is kind of weird to me.. Can anyone tell me anything??

While I had my IUD I never had a period (because I had the Mirena) but I had AWFUL cramps. I know the copper one is supposed to make it worse too so I am sure the no kids, bad periods and the copper IUD might be a painful combination. I had to have my IUD removed about six months after getting it because it punctured my uterus, that was PAINFUL!! And it was because it didn't fit right because my uterus was small from not having kids.

very disappointed. I am very sexually active with my boyfriend and this does get in the way, not to mention the roller coaster of moods associated with having your period every 15 days.

Hi ladies, I've had my copper IUD removed on 11/4. AF is usually very regular at 28 days, which the next cycle to begin 11/9 >> however, on 11/5 AF appeared to have come knocking a few days early with a light flow on 11/5 and a medium flow today (11/6). Is it truly AF coming early? (There was no blood/discharge the day of the removal.) And, if so, how does this affect my ability to predict ovulation? Thanks so much in advance!

ve known. Based on what I read Copper IUDs are generally safe to use in the MRI but hospitals know better than to risk the possibility that it has an unwanted type of metal. It also can't be expected normal people who didn't study medicine to know medicine standards if they weren't oriented beforehand on the do's and don'ts. It really makes me wonder what if we had sex on the same day and she removed it on that same day then she might just end up pregnant depending on luck.

Hm That does not sound sustainable. They do say the first few months, bleeding can be unpredictable but it's going into a lengthy time period. Is it heavy?

I have had pain in my left side for three years and the doctors finally did a CT scan and found a 4cm ovarian cyst on my left ovary. Hi! What your doctor told you about your IUD and your cycles and your fertility is exactly what I would have said to you too! And I would have expected your period right on schedule. It may be just an unlucky coincidence that it didn't happen that way. I would also try Provera or Prometrium as a next step to induce a period if it doesn't happen spontaneously and the test remains negative.

Hello, Was it a copper IUD or Merina? Copper IUD does not affect your periods nor does it affect your fertility. A woman can conceive anytime after its removal. If you were using Mirena you may take to adjust to the changing hormone levels. It can take one or more months for the period to normalize after Mirena removal. After Mirena removal the menstrual cycle will return or it may go back to the way it was before the IUD was placed.
