What is xopenex levalbuterol

Common Questions and Answers about What is xopenex levalbuterol

xopenex

Avatar n tn Xopenex® Inhalation Solution (levalbuterol) is a short acting inhaled medicine, a rescue medicine, with fewer side effects than similar medicines used for the relief of acute asthma symptoms. It is not a medicine well-suited for long term, sustained asthma control. There are other classes of asthma medicines, called controller medicines and these do not have the same excitatory side effects.

Avatar f tn In the states we have several versions of albuterol - Proair, Proventil, Ventolin, Maxair (technically pributerol) and a purified version Xopenex (technically levalbuterol). All of them Xopenex is the only one that does not go by albuterol. No generics because of the cfc ban. We do have generic albuterol neb solution. The Xopenex doesn't cause the shakiness that the other versions do and can be more effective. I wonder if that is what part of my problem has been? hmmmmm...
Avatar m tn you have more options in Australia than in the US. All short acting brochodilators have potential side effects like insomnia.
Avatar n tn Hi, fast heart rate is due to Xopenex. Initially, use of this drug is associated with this side effect but over a period of time, tolerance usually develops. In case if you have a pre exisiting heart disease, please avoid this drug. Consult you treating doctor to lower the dose or frequency, other alternative is sustained release deriphylline tablets.
1315759 tn?1274044788 my asthma is not under control, at work it always bothers me. i am on the albuterol pump plus the breathing machine, which both does no good. what other inahlers can i use? or the breathing treatments? at the hospital, they give me xopenex, which works ok, not really good for me. the last time i went to the hospital, the therapist gave me atrovent and xopenex, with 4 doses in one. i told them it was making me too jittery, way more than normal and nobody listened.
312330 tn?1245176752 Did the singulair for a while, but was taken off of that....I have CSS which is what causes the asthma. I use xopenex as my rescue med...and right now do Qvar and Foradil for my maintenance meds right now...but obviously am not under control.
Avatar f tn Ask about alternative treatments if the xopenex is not sufficiently helpful..
Avatar n tn Hello and welcome to the forum. Very sorry to hear that you have battling this for so long. It has been a week or so since you posted this. How are you doing? Any improvement? The lingering cough can last. It sounds like they are trying to cover all bases for eradicating the pneumonia. Most likely, your lungs are now clearing and the actual infection has passed. Your airways are irritated and this can take some time to recover from especially with your already compromised state.
Avatar f tn What activity were you doing, where were you doing it, what time of day was it, what is the weather or temperature of the room. If you see a pattern like I always have flareups when I exercise in the morning maybe you should avoid that. Now I am no expert but this is what I have done to help. I am still working on losing my own weight but with these tips I have minimized the exercised endused flareups I use to get. Hope this helps and good luck.
212161 tn?1599427282 Yes, it's called adult onset asthma. I never had it either until one year ago, but because I went on a very healthy diet and eliminated milk products and sugar, I stopped wheezing. Lately I started eating all of the bad foods again and now once again I am wheezing. I too refuse to take medications, but 2 weeks ago I did use Xopenex (it's a bronchodialator) that helped me to breathe.
Avatar f tn She took prednisone for 5 days and is on her 7th day of cefzil for infection just because this is what the dr thought she needed She has never gotten much relief with the albuterol or the xopenex which makes me wonder if she indeed has asthma or could it be something else I would really like answers if anyone can help or give us guidance or advice on this situation. It is very scary for her. And we are working on easing her anxiety when she feels she can't breathe .
1398693 tn?1343684738 Hi, what are your O2 sats? And what does your lung function test show? In spite of all the medications if there is persisting bronchospasm then it will compromise lung function causing breathlessness. This will be evident on spirometry. Also, because of the ingoing lung disease if the O2 saturation is not adequately maintained, it can cause breathlessness. Added causes like anemia and cardiac disorders could further aggravate the breathlessness. Regards.
212161 tn?1599427282 now the cold/cough part is mostly gone yes i still have a cough now and than and my nose runs at times than stops up, is the asthma ... plus i feel like under water for sec than it goes away is that asthma, it goes away without me taking aything to make it go away ,i have two inhalers and have only used twice yes it helped with one puff than i not use again for days, does asthma do you like that .
Avatar n tn t need to see a pediatric pulmonologist as they will simply tell me the same thing she has! I am @ my wits end and have a really sick little boy. Is a specialist what I should be pushing for??
Avatar m tn Apparently you have asthma or some breathing problems already since you are taking Xopenex and Symbicort. Xopenex is similar to regular albuterol which is a fast acting inhaler for asthma (something I use). It will increase your heart rate for awhile after you use it. For me, that means about 10-15 minutes. I also get shaky, jittery hands. But it eases off. The Symbicort is used when asthma is not well controlled yet.

1580703 tn?1651904887 at what dosage dose and length of time does prednisone cause brain damage and memory problems, thinking problems? thanks!
1398693 tn?1343684738 Thank You for your reply Dr. Tinkelman, I don't have to exercise for my chest to get heavy I also wake up in the middle of the night short of breath and with a heavy chest I really don't have to do anything to bring it on. Also my heart has been checked out and I'm glad to say that my heart is in great shape I've had a stress test with 2D echo done to check my heart.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I take Dulera/Singulair/Xopenex and Spiriva and sometimes Combivent. Is there a med like theophylline that can help me? I'm also having bad sleep apnea and am crippled by this and can't work or think because of my lung diseases. Is my sleep apnea caused by asthma or narrowed airway?
Avatar n tn s run a low grade temp for 13 days running, has taken codituss cough med (with codiend), breathing treatments with Xopenex, and has finished a round of Z-pack. Coughing is horrible at bedtime and through the night. Since she has a low grade temp I had disregarded an allergy. 13 days into this, I'm re-thinking everything. I'm looking for help. Is this a virus or allergy or what? She can sit in a room 6 ft from the guinea pigs and not cough at all.
Avatar m tn Hi, it is possible to be having asthma issues and maintaim a good peak flow for a while. Peak flow reflects how clear the larger airways are. You could be having issues in the smaller airways. The presence of mucous would indicate that something is probably going on. You should really discus this with your dr at your next visit and see what he/she says. Another thought would be acid reflux. Could this be an issue for you?
3086858 tn?1340852861 s impossible to give you a specific recommendation without looking at all your test, but in general it is extremely important to specify what type of tachycardia you have to justify a high dose of Bystolic. A high dose of beta blocker (BB) by itself (e.g. Bystolic) can produce extreme fatigue in some patients. If you have sinus tachycardia it should not be treated with BB.
