trileptal

1108262 tn?1273179266 The Trileptal also began causing a lowering of my blood sodium levels (hyponatremia), a rare side effect for the medication, but I used salt pills to offset this and had to- guess what?- go for regular blood tests. And then depression and anxiety worsened over time. I also began to have these weird twitches and movements I couldn't control, one so badly I ended up in an emergency room with a neurologist questioning if the Trileptal was causing the problem.
1212999 tn?1272305203 I've been taking these two for 2 months. 1800 mg trileptal 10 mg abilify. i'm doing a lot better (rages getting under control, manic moods lowered) but i'm still so depressed. my irritability is still off the charts. do you think adding another med will be the most likely next step or will my doc just keep raising my dosages?
Avatar f tn Yes, I have used for TN and simultaneous leg pain. It works well with few side effects (drowsy at first which resolves with use).
645390 tn?1338555377 Thank you SO much for your response. I appreciate you looking up the med for me...The sensation is better now, so that is good. Too many wierd things lately...
Avatar n tn Hi, I have been searching for solutions for about 2 years for my daughter. She has now, at age 21 yrs complex partial seizures and when she is in them she asks the questions over and over again within seconds, "What time is is? What day is it? Do I have anything to do today? What am I doing tomorrow?" This goes on for 2 mins and last night it was about 12 minutes...the longest ever. She has had one EEG and CT scan.
728313 tn?1260459629 I know that I don't have epilepsy, but my questions is what happens to you possible long term effects from taking it;s medication. I had a Shoppers Drug Mart give me Trileptal 300mg instead of my medication. My memory had changed some what and don't know if it's from it or not. No one has an aswer to why I am still living after taking those meds? For 5 days I had to put up with barely keeping my eyes open and my husband couldn't wake me for two hours?
Avatar m tn Hi, I have been taking Trileptal for 8 years now and have done great with it. I would like to be pregnant in a couple of years and was wondering if anyone has been pregnant while taking the drug. My doctors are insisting that I change over to Lamictil so that my pregnancy will be safer. Any advice anyone??
1374874 tn?1278686480 Tegretol is a very old drug used for seizure disorders. I used it and got lost in my own house! But, I am very sensitive to medicine. Tegretol will help you GAIN weight! Neurontin is just as bad and is used on too many patients for too many reasons most lately. I would try the newer one, Trileptal if given a choice. But, it is also more expensive, Try to start out on the lowest dosage and step it up to find the right dosage.
Avatar n tn I have been compleatly off this trileptal for 4 days, started weening about 2 months ago. have you ever heard of such a thing like this? and how much longer will it take to get better?
Avatar m tn Thanks for your info on how Trileptal works for Tregeminal Neuralgia. I would be interested to see how it works with other people as well, in place of Carbamazapine and Gabapentin so I have some ammunition when I see my neurologist. I don't think Gabapentin is doing much if anything for me, I am currently taking 2700 mg per day in addition to Carbamazapine.
Avatar f tn I think Geodon is for BP patients who have equal mania and depression or more on the manic side (as opposed to Lamictal which is used for greater depressive BP). Trileptal is very similar to Tegretol - in fact, I think they are the same molecule but varied somewhat. I've read a statement from a Psychiatrist that Tegretol is always more successful for them than Trileptal is. Go to Bipolarworld - the Dr. in charge of that wrote a abstract of his experience using Tegretol vs Trileptal for BP.
Avatar f tn in 2000 i was diagonosed with biopolor disorder i had my assorment of drug theropy i ended with a cocktale of trileptal, trazadone and lexapro when i found out i was pregnat in 2004. They took me off all my meds and have been med free until about 6 months ago when i went completely off the wall...They then put me on lexapro and ativan.. I went to a psychiotrist 3 weeks ago who took me off both of those meds and put me on Seroquel 150mg and trileptal 1200mg.
Avatar f tn s common or uncommon but its not rare. Trileptal is similar clinically but better in one way in that the blood test is not required. I found that lithium worked well but had some trouble tolerating it for other reasons that were physical but did very well on Lamictal especially on rapid cycling. Each person reacts diffferently though. Speak to your psychiatrist about what is going on and if other options might be considered.
Avatar f tn I currently take Trileptal for Partial Seizures (my seizures are well controlled with it) but whenever I miss 2 doses in a row (which I obviously try not to), I experience numbness and tingling in my face and head. I know these are symptoms of MS and I know Trileptal can be used for MS patients to help with nerve issues. I guess my question is should I see my neurologist? Is it possible that this face numbness/tingling sensations are symptoms of MS? FYI I am a 33 yr old female.
5032487 tn?1365824021 Trileptal is off label for BP, but it's used pretty frequently. It's apparently the new improved version of Tegretol, with fewer side effects. Topomax is also used off label, but it's gotten the nickname of dopomax because it causes cognitive issues in a fair number of people. It does tend to make you lose weight, though. I personally would go for Trileptal above Topomax, but I'm doing fine on Lamictal so it's a bit of a moot point.
1100992 tn?1262357216 if you compare tegretol with depakote or lithium the 3 most famous classical old drugs for BP and mainly for mania then tegretol is the least harmful and this i read everywhere. So if you consider an MS then tegretol is your best bet. Sure you will need from time to time to do some blood tests (not with trileptal) but at least it won't make you put excessive weight or hair loss like depakote or the other known side effects like lithium BTW egyptian doctors write it all the time.
Avatar f tn I just figured out I have fiber myalgia which included and definitely not limited to neurological pain, I just found a doctor who actually takes my insurance and who believes in fiber myalgia!
Avatar f tn Trileptal is an anticonvulsant (used as a mood stabilizer for bipolar), and Lexapro is an antidepressant called an SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor). If you are having problems with mania you might want to talk to your doctor about adding an antipsychotic. There are so many too many to list and there can be so many different combinations too. You should talk to your doctor about the specific symptoms you are having...
Avatar f tn Is anyone on here taking Trileptal for bipolar? Any comments or results?
Avatar f tn what are the likelyhood that I would become dizzy and nauseas while taking trileptal? I will be starting out w/ 150mg twice daily for 3 days then increasing?
2034625 tn?1392643292 I thank you for your detailed info about Gabapentin. It really helps to know what the norm is when talking to the doctors. I've done some more reading about how TN is handled here and it seems that in the Italian MS forums, most people with MS and secondary TN are treated with Gabapentin. Tegratol, it would seem, is used more for primary TN (probably due to vascular reasons, dental, etc).
Avatar m tn //www.canadapharmacyonline.com for my albuterol my copay in the US is $35 for 1 ,there I pay $60 for four including shipping. A friend of mine gets his Depakote from there it is so much cheaper, Trileptal I think in generic was $43 for 100 (150mg) generics. Check it out, they will tell you who makes it and what country, most are from Canada. PS.I know this stream is not really for this forum, but knowing where to get safe and cheap medicine is relevant for us all.
Avatar m tn I am taking tablets for my minor neural problem for the past 4 years, The tablets i am consuming are Oxcarbazepine (Trileptal) -300mg and Levetiracetam (keppra) -250mg. Now I am looking for a tablet which should have both of this content in the same. I feel guilty that I am taking more tablets and my health condition is improved now. so I planned to reduce my tablet dosage. so I look over this- i.e.
666129 tn?1225302040 I have been on it for only 5 months. I have had no lasting problems so far. It has completely stopped my seizures. I have TLE. Yes I was also told the same thing about being on it forever... I don't know how long the drug has been out in the US. Guess we need to do some research. Stay in touch.
Avatar n tn My blood pressure went down to 130 - 85 but i still feel my heart beat is not smooth like before and i do not sleep for long hours what do i do to sleep better? what should i eat? i lost 4 kg in two weeks, my height is 173cm and my original weight was 74. please keep in mind that i am a sports guy at the age of forty i played tennis since i was 13 and never stopped i play, before the stroke, amost 8 hours per week.
574118 tn?1305135284 Right now I am manic with mixed states and rapid cycling. seroquel takes care of that. I saw my pdoc as i was convinced that it's time to add a mood stabilizer like the usual therapy. Back in time, I didn't tolerate neither tegretol nor lamictal. what is left is lithium or valproate. of course there are less famous drugs like trileptal, topamax,..... i took 2 pills of lithium and i had serious insomnia for 2 days, intolerable, dry mouth,...the usual.
