Avatar n tn As for the medication and how quickly (or not) it worked, are there clear instructions on how to take it? With my Diltiazem it's quite clear that I should not take it with any food. So I can take it one hour before eating or have to wait 2 hours after eating. Perhaps taking your Lanoxin with food interfered with the absorption and that's why it took longer to kick in. Or maybe it was just a coincidence. Check out the instructions. You want relief as soon as possible.
Avatar f tn What test was given that shows a dilated left ventricle? "Normal" or expected range is 3.5 - 5.7 cm. Is your son a large young man? Is he an athlete? Athletes have a larger left ventricle that is very efficient with a reduced heart rate at rest below 60 bpm. The symptoms for an enlarged LV can be shortness of breath, weakness, possibly chest pain, etc., nosebleeds, dizziness and headaches don't usually represent symptoms for DLV.
1481176 tn?1291392092 s common for my blood pressure to be in the 50/35 range and at times in the 250/150 range. It has actually gone to 300/180 before going into a prolonged Grand Mal Seizure that led to shutting down all of my senses, including my ability to breathe. I turned deep shades of blue and experienced swelling in my brain. I knew nothing for several days in the hospital. My blood pressure rises in "seconds" well over 200. Likewise, it also falls in seconds from sitting or lying to standing.
Avatar m tn I would say that the doctor who can make the best assessment of what is safe and reasonable for your mother is the oncologist who is currently taking care of her. That doctor knows her exam, how her response to chemo has been, what side effects she has had. Theoretically, giving chemotherapy directly into the abdomen seems to improve the duration of time before the cancer comes back. That is called the disease free interval (DFI).
Avatar f tn If your doctor has recommended it and thinks it will be beneficial, then it is up to you to do what you think is best for you. It is not for everyone, nor does eneyone handle it the same way. I approached it with a month-at-a-time attitude. If at any time I thought it was too much for me, I would stop.
Avatar n tn The 20% you refer to is the amount of blood pumped out of the left ventricle into circulation with each heartbeat. Normal is 50 to 70% and medically referred to as ejection fraction (EF). If the left ventricle is overworked by pumping against high resistance, i.e. high blood pressure, increased volume, etc.
Avatar f tn Dear Dr. Goodman ... What is your opinion on maintenance after chemotherapy. I just completed my 6th treatment of gemzar/carbo for recurrence. Prior to my second treatment I had complete secondary cytoreductive surgery. My CA125 is now in the single digits. My CT scan will never be clear. It shows all kinds of problems due to the radical surgery. My doctor is using them to see if any change has occured. I do not want to go on Avistan. Does anything work?
215752 tn?1278004771 Whatever you feel best at. The range is wide, but you are at the hypo side now. Could you feel the difference in the past? The longer you've had this the more you can tell the difference. Ask for copies of the bloodwork from now on to make notes on. Also, do you get free T4 and free T4 tested (need these), the actual thyroid hormones? TSH is a messenger hormone from the pituitary telling the thyroid what to do, not the best to adjust meds by.
822804 tn?1298226302 What is the T3 range?
561964 tn?1283798616 Does anybody know what the normal range is? Also, the last time I had blood work done, only had result for TSH which was 0.6 . I have been taking Synthroid 25 mcg for the last 2 months and wondering if my TSH will go up or down. I had a PT on 5/1/08 and taking the meds to keep existing thyroid side from overworking. (this is what my Endo said and why he put me on meds). Thanks.
Avatar m tn Most studies require that you be off of treatments for 6 months prior to the start of of the study. All my blood work has been in the normal range since I have stooped interferon , but I also know my liver was improving while on treatments. I hate the unknown. Sorry to keep dragging this on just trying to get my thoughts together.
540662 tn?1214508796 What is a normal range and what is a concern? Is 1.49 TSH on the low side and how about T4---mine is 1.
Avatar m tn I had no problem with the insurance for the last year for maintenance but they things have changed, Just wondering what other people have experienced.
Avatar n tn t have the medical knowledge to help you with this. What test was this for? My suggestion is to pay the money and post in the experts forum and see what the Dr's have to say.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the post. Most people on this board don't want to hear this stuff. Its damm the torprdo's and full stem ahead. A rational approach is needed when deciding on TX .
Avatar n tn The SVR rate for geno 1's using Intron A (pre-peg) with ribavirin was 14%.
Avatar n tn Digoxin is the generic for Lanoxin, so they are the same (just in case you are taking both). Coreg is a great beta blocker, so that should really help the fast heartbeat and blood pressure. Lanoxin helps the heart to beat stronger and get a better fill. Lanoxin will strengthen the heart muscle. Sounds like the medications are really improving your heart. That is really great news!! Yes, your heart can get better.
Avatar f tn That practice should be stopped, based on the results of this trial. There is no rationale for using maintenance therapy. The treatment is clearly ineffective," study author Dr. Adrian Di Bisceglie, chief of hepatology and co-director of the Liver Center at Saint Louis University, said in a university news release. About half of patients with chronic hepatitis C fully recover after an initial course of peginterferon and ribavirin antiviral therapy that can last from six months to a year.
968065 tn?1248466697 I got testing done on three different occasions now for thyroid - What is the range that my TSH should be in? Feb -TSH 1.67 May -TSH 1.87 July -TSH 2.92 Is this an okay increase, or would I be crazy to think this is indicative of hypothyroidism? Here in Canada the range is 0.30 to 6.20 means you are okay. I was reading somehwere that it is 0.30 to 3.00 in the U.S. and that someone with levels above 3.00 should be considered Hypo. Please help!
Avatar f tn My doctors were against maintenance chemo for me, even though after all my treatments I still had some residual cancer implants. They said there is no evidence that maintenance chemo extends the remissions. I feel like without trying more chemo I am not trying hard enough to beat the disease, but my onc and my gyn/onc agree. I like to be more proactive. I know there are several others here that have had or are having maintenance chemo. Hopefully they can give you some answers.
Avatar f tn can anyone tell me what are the normal limits of the ca 27.29 test my baseline test is a 43 is that normal. My Doctor is out on Vacation I would ask him and the staff wont answer questions of this nature.
