zocor

Avatar n tn More important than the hair loss (though I am sure this is a big issue for many) is the fact that statins cause CoQ10 deficiencies that CONTRIBUTE to Heart Failure. I'd rather drop dead of a heart attack than suffer for years with Heart Failure if I had a choice. Be aware, coronary heart disease may not be increasing but there is an epidemic of Heart Failure in the western world, and the disease is devastating! The answer to heart disease is not more drugs and surgery!
Avatar f tn There is a medication that is being used in Europe that hopefully will be here in the US soon. It is a combination of Coreg and Tropol XL, I believe. This gives all the benefits of Coreg and reduces the tiredness that people complain about. Our relatives in Europe use the medication and have energy to travel to US and all around the states. I am not sure what the name will be of the medication when it becomes available in the US.
Avatar n tn He has been using Zocor 40mg for the period of almost 2 months and he lost 18 pounds of mostly muscle mass. What is he to do next? How to recover his muscle mass? He is 68 years old.
Avatar n tn 1.) " ...I used to take 80mg. Zocor but she told me to stop..." 2.) "should I continue to take the Zocor" Is there something in statement #1 you do not understand?
Avatar n tn 1) if there are any medications my father could be taking to help improve his memory, and 2) whether his current combination of medication may be affecting his memory. He is currently on zocor (20ml/day) for cholesterol, methotrixate and folic acid for psoriasis, and takes a 81 mg aspirin per day to help thin his blood. He had a pacemaker installed in 1993 (updated in 2002). Any thoughts or suggestions as to what we might explore with the doctors would be helpful. Thank you.
Avatar f tn t get invited to the big presentations given by drug companies, only those in top positions in hospitals who are responsible for funding get that privalidge. So, where is the voice for the GP? and the patients who DO suffer?
Avatar m tn Your best bet, is to contact a vet and ask them about it.... They will need to know the dogs age, weight, and how much of the medications they might have ingested. Basically, all the same questions Jerry is asking. If you can't contact a vet, you can try contacting the pet poison helpline. Below is a website and their phone number. Maybe they can help you. . www.petpoisonhelpline.com 1-800-213-6680 Also as Jerry has asked...are they exhibiting any unusual behaviors...?
Avatar m tn Also is it possible that the medications could interact with the MAC which was the anesthesia used in the surgery?
Avatar n tn Fisrt I'd like to question why your doctor has you on 150mg a day of simvastatin when 80mg is the maximum recommended dose. If it was me, I'd be asking! If you've developed a cough that is not associated with an upper respiratory infection, a cold or seasonal allergies, you should have it evaluated by your doctor, especially if you're experiencing shooting pains in your head when you cough. I'm not saying you should be "worried" per se, just smart.
Avatar n tn If they are elevated from taking the Zocor, your doctor needs to discontinue this medication. I took Zocor for about a year, and it damaged my liver. Read about the side effects from all stain drugs. Good luck.
Avatar f tn When you can't sleep from the withdrawals, I've been told that Trazadone is a good choice for sleep because it isn't a controlled substance, etc. What is the story with this medication?
Avatar f tn Hello, I have been using suboxone for about 6 months and I have dosed down to about .5mg a day. Rough to kick. I have possible hemochromatosis as well but still have not gotten a straight answer yet. They have done several tests and I have been to many doctors. I've been in the ER twice now because of heart attack symptoms and all of the doctors have had no answers. My feet are turning brown with these bruises under the skin or have been for years now.
Avatar n tn That's not very good advice to give to anyone, especially if you're not that person's doctor. Statins are not all evil or bad, and if someone is having a serious side-effect from one statin, there are many others that they can be tried on. Also, where did you get the notion that 222 is an optimal cholesterol level? The optimal level is highly dependant on the individual...
428155 tn?1203688894 I'm on simvastatin (zocor). I started it *after* my PVC episodes increased dramatically. I wasn't concerned about arrhythmia as a side effect. My PVCs have gone down quite a bit since I started it. I don't attribute this to the zocor at all. My total cholesterol is down to 150, from 245. I'm on the lowest dose, 10mg.
Avatar m tn Fenofibrate is a drug which is used to treat high cholesterol levels and high triglyceride levels in the blood. It is used in combination with a diet low in cholesterol and saturated fat. Fenofibrate may also be used for purposes other than those mentioned. Fenofibrate is only part of a complete program of treatment that also includes diet, exercise, and weight control. You need to follow your diet, medication, and exercise routines very closely.
Avatar n tn My understanding is that the statins with the greatest LDL reducing effect are Crestor, Lipitor, Zocor, and Pravachol, in that order. I don’t mention Leschol and Mevacor since they appear to be rarely used since recently due to the aforementioned being more powerful. Do we have any available solid data on the effects of the various individual statins other than LDL reduction? For example, do we know which ones raise HDL the most? What about effects on particle size or Lp(a), etc.
Avatar n tn So, they have been perfect for 10 tests! Now my ast is 74 - I think alt was normal. What is going on ? Could i have hep c and they've been normal for ten tests and now show up? I was on a lot of meds the month prior - augmentin, senna, tylenol, etc. Please rspond if you can?!
Avatar n tn Lower blood pressure reduces the workload of the heart and provides time for the heart to completely recover from the operation. If you experience dizziness, fainting, etc., your doctor may want to adjust the medication, but if you can tolerate your current blood presssure the better it is for your heart.
Avatar m tn Taking yourself of medication is dangerous. Have you asked Walmat or Walgreens what their price would be for your meds. I know that they offer large discounts to people without insurance. You could (Should) inform your doctor of your situation, they should be able to help as well. As far as the Hypo/Hyper...if you type that into google you will find some great reading. From what you say..you seem hyper but "How long have you been off your meds" could be a withdraw side effect.
Avatar f tn Yes, the predominant (like 90%) form of cholesterol in our blood is what we make ourselves, NOT from what we eat. The drug companies have been very disengenuous about this. Cholesterol shares a pathway in its synthesis with a necessary element called Co-Q-10. As we age our body makes less Co-Q-10, but if the levels fall significantly many tissues fail to fucntion correctly. As you block the synthesis of cholesterol, you block the needed synthesis of Co-Q-10.
Avatar n tn I've been on Zocor for the last 4 1/2 yrs and never had any sleep problems, but everybody is different. Tell your doctor about it and see what he says/thinks should be done.
Avatar m tn I don't have a Cholesterol problem! My problem is I have a cloting problem I have Prothrombin and Lupus anticoagulant don't quote me on the spelling!! I was on Cumidon then aspirin now off the aspirin and on supplements and blood is good. I also take some other supplements that I haven't mentioned for keeping blood moving.
Avatar n tn Well, I stoped taking my Tricor and Zocor for a few months and my heart palps were gone. The problem is that my cholesterol numbers went back up. I started back on the statins and low and behold the palps returned. Anyone that has PVC's and PAC's knows how much of a nuisance they can be both physically and emotionally. Is there any other drug that is not in the same class as statins that works on cholesterol. I already eat oatmeal, take fish oil, etc. Thanks!
