I think though, after reading a bit on this, that what I will do is go to a half tab twice a day for a few weeks. I can then drop one half at a time to get free of it. The problem with trying to do this through the docor is that I only see my neurologist every four or five months! thank you once again for all the help and support. Knowing that what you are going through is normal helps a lot strange as it may seem.
I realize taking any opioid for anything other than physical pain is abuse of the drug. Is it terribly unhealthy for me to take it twice a month when on stage performing (I am also into Barbershop Quartet singing and other venues of musical/stage performance)? I did a wedding two years ago and took two "ultracet" before. It made me comfortable and relaxed on stage - no anxiety or stage fright. Is this unhealthy behavior - especially for someone in a position like mine?
I find that the best medication for pain is codeine. I know it isn't the strongest, but it well help with the pain at the proper dosage and is not as addictive as the others, such as hydrocodone or oxycodone. Also, tramacet works well. You just weren't on the dosage that you needed. 100 mg t.i.d. is what a person that experiences significant pain usually needs. All the best.

Thanks all & avisg - the doctor suggested the lockbox too. I used to hide the Ultracet but he went searching for it & found it. I thought the lock was too harsh but I guess not. And I just went to the pharmacy to refill my Adderall and guess what - someone dipped in there too. Probably only 1 or 2 but nonetheless, making me feel like maybe I didn't overreact.

Especially if you have a history of addiction. The problem with it is after taking heavier medication you need more of the Ultracet to get relief but at the amount it takes to feel better, you are risking a siezure. Get off everything all together, it will be worth it. That is what I have to keep telling myself.....
