Common Questions and Answers about What is prempro made of

premarin

Avatar n tn The latest is the inability to have an orgasm. That made me go see my doctor who prescribed Prempro. My maternal grandmother died with breast cancer. I have a history of seizure disorder and on Dilantin. After 2 days of taking Prempro I decided not for me. I think I need Progesterone and would like to know if others use the cream and what brand. Or any advice appreciated. Thank- you.
Avatar n tn I am age 66. At age 50 my GYN put me on Prempro. I had no symptoms of menopause. He said that it will happen and I can prevent the discomfort of it by starting estrogen therapy. He was right, I have never had any of the things people talk about. What I am wondering, would I maybe not even had the symptoms anyway? I have been on it for 16 years now. My GYN has now prescribed a low dose, but how do I know if I even need it? I am basically healthy.
Avatar f tn I am not certain that I want to continue with this course of treatment. My question is, how dangerous is prempro when I have a family history of ovarian cancer? My mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in her mid 60's and had surgery along with chemo and radiation - she is now cancer free. Should this be a major concern for me if I continue to take the Prempro? Also, are ovarian cysts related to ovarian cancer?
Avatar f tn ve stopped the Prempro cold turkey and thus far, only side effect is a headache, tolerable. Is it better on the body to do a taper of the hormones rather than an abrupt stoppage? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Hot flashes and osteopenia (pre-osteoporosis). Awaiting biopsy results for microcalcifications around or in ducts. Can prempro increase risk of BC, in particular, DCIS?
Avatar f tn It happened to me a couple of times too. It is due with menopause as the vaginal area gets drier. We should avoid rubbing too hard with toilet paper. I know how you felt - very painful burning sensation. Now I am careful when I go to the WC.
Avatar f tn Recently the doctor changed my Prempro dosage from .45/1.5 mg per day to double that amount. Do you think the change in Prempro could change my thyroid levels? Should I request new thyroid blood tests or wait for my annual testing which comes up in 6 months?
Avatar n tn m on Estroven now but it takes weeks for it to build up enough to work. Effexor takes care of the hot flashes but the nausea is unbearable! I can see why people get depressed during menopause! It's awful! Then there are those that have hot flashes for a month and it's all over. I'm SO jealous!! But at least I don't have mood swings. Yet!
237053 tn?1258828426 What I have heard over the years that has to do with pregnancy and MS, is that the woman's body will shut off part of her immune system to allow her body to carry the "foreign being," inside of her body. Otherwise the pregnancy would be attacked by the immune system and destroyed. This lasts until about 3-6 months after delivery. Usually about 3 months. So scientists are trying to figure out how the immune system "shuts off" to allow the pregnancy to continue.
Avatar f tn It seems more common to prescribe birth control pills than hormone replacement (Prempro) during perimenopause. And a course of progestin seems to be more commonly prescribed to stop prolonged and/or heavy bleeding.
Avatar n tn I thought the jury was out once again on whether Prempro (HRT) actually does increase the risk of breast cancer beause the study is believed by some to be flawed. The study was composed of mostly older women, who are at a higher risk. Also, I thought over the counter natural hormone remedies are not regulated by the FDA, thus they dont know if linked to breast cancer. This information might become outdated as I am writing this.
Avatar f tn Hi RainSpirit, I recommend you check into bioidentical hormone pellets. These are small pellets of either estrogen or testosterone that get placed under the skin of your hip by a doctor that specializes in them. They don't have the highs and lows of creams, patches and pills. They bypass the liver when metabolized. I've had them 4 years and have never been happier. I started getting them every three months, now I go about every 4-5 months.
Avatar f tn 40 is a little young to start Menopause, but not unheard of, it can happen. I started @ 49, for 1 year, I would bleed for 7 weeks, then it stop, started, did that for a year. I have not had a period for 2 yrs now. I started gaining weight a little weight in my mid section, I also got very depressed. I'm not a depressed type, always happy, not moody. I had to go on Prempro, it took 2 weeks, I was better.
Avatar f tn Ive heard about HRT being made from the urine of female horses and how it is done, which I find crueeel ;( but guess my questions is what is the manmade version? Im on Prempro but dont know where it came from horse or manmade???
Avatar n tn It could be the prempro. Ask your doctor about going off of it for a few month and see if that helps. I heard that estrogen can cause congestion along with other medications. I too have non allergic rhinitis but mine is considered Vasomotor rhinitis.k I had this for 6 yrs. but I do not take any medication, just nasal steroid sprays and nasal rinses and it does not do anything. I even had sinus surgery - total ethmoidectomy, opening the ostia of the maxillary sinuses and partial turbinectomy.
Avatar f tn I believe columnar cell changes refers to cells found in a specific part of the duct. I dont know what apocrine metaplasia is, but the only findings of concern in my case was the ADH and LCIS, both of which have been found to increase the risk of invasive cancer. Good luck on your excisional.
Avatar f tn I have been reading such negative information about the side effects of Effexor, and even worse, the are withdrawal symptoms if you have to get off of it. Is there anyone reading this that actually had to take effexor along with Raloxifene? If so, could you tell me please if you had a good, or bad experience? Thank you for any input.
Avatar n tn I am not aware of any side-effects of this supplement. Certainly, if you think that there is a temporal relationship between your starting the hoodia and poor blood pressure control you should you could probably assume that the two are somehow related.
754647 tn?1233784665 Called him again today and he takes me off prevera and puts me on prempro. I dont understand why he is putting me on all this hormone medication. I am afraid it will afect me getting pregnat or worse. Has anyone been through this and will it harm me.
Avatar n tn I take wellbutrin, prempro and maxide. Will the synthroid be okay to take with these and how long until I feel like myself again. I had the surgery a week ago...
Avatar n tn What about free T4? Will prempro (hrt) falsely increase Free T4?
Avatar f tn I since have done some reading that indicates the bigger culprit with replacement hormones and breast cancer is not so much estrogen but more progesterone. I wanted to clarify that. There has been a lot of publicity and it is hard to know what the research really says. Did you stop the estrogen product?
518798 tn?1295212279 I have had a major headache since Tuesday and do not want anyone to talk to me. No matter what is said to me, I get emotional and fly off the handle. Friday I didn’t go to work and sat in the bed the entire day (awake, not sleeping) without the television, computer or talking to anyone. My blood pressure has been perfect, and medically the headache is the only problem. I just can’t control my emotions. I alternate between crying and anger for no apparent reason.
Avatar f tn I know the study talks about HRT that has progestin also but I am wondering what your thoughts are on all of this. When I asked my oncologist if he tested my borderline tumor to see if it was estrogen+ he said no that these tumors don't tend to be + so they don't test them. Should I be getting this tested and if so, is it too late? Do you think it is safe to continue using the estrogen patch? Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question.
798555 tn?1292787551 it means that anybody with an allergy or a sensitivity to an ingredient in a manufactured drug is up a creek, at least if they are on Medicare. And so what you have said about the egregiousness of the bill is not only about drugs from Canada, but also discriminates against those who cannot tolerate dyes and fillers in drugs made here. Corporate money is our overlord.
