Common Questions and Answers about What is pravachol for

pravachol

Avatar f tn My psychiatrist has me on Lamictal, Effexor, Neurontin, Wellbutrin, and Nuvigil. From my PCP I take Pravachol and Lisinopril. Is it safe to take all these together? All answers are appreciated.
Avatar n tn does muscle problems from taking the generic pravachol include a burning feeling in the knees which causes pain when walking or bending knees?
Avatar m tn No other symptoms what so ever. Find it hard to loose weight even I try, take toprol and pravachol, was on Z-pack for strep throat when CT was done. Someone?
Avatar n tn the heart rate is eratic and between 43 to 56 should I seak medical advice?
Avatar m tn This drug has been prescribed for many years to patients with heart problems. Now it appears there is a risk of internal bleeding due to the blood being too thin, including in the brain. However, they state the risks of another heart attack outweigh the risks of bleeding. I think we have a right to know the risks when being given medication but nobody I know was told aspirin carries this risk.
Avatar n tn I take prevacid for heartburn and pravachol for high cholesterol; also using mupirocin ointment since I had sinus surgery in September.
Avatar n tn Dysrythmia-ATIVAN. I have also been on EFFEXOR for 5 years for severe depression. My dosage has been increased twice in the past month--I now take 187.5 mg...I woke up at about 12 midnight last Sunday and I have no recall of the past 4 days; however, I apparently withdrew $7000.00 from my bank and gambled at the local casino ...I do not drink...PLEASE HELP ME....What happened???????? I really do not think I'm crazy........but AM I?????
Avatar n tn Is atorvastatin or pravastatin better at monitoring cholestoral? My doctor prescribed the generic pravastatin as a more afordable alternative to atorvastatin but also doubled the amount I take (from 20 mg of atorvastatin to 40 mg of pravastatin). Should I be concerned about the effectiveness of pravastatin?
Avatar n tn Thank you for the post. As of today, I am not taking any drug. I feel normal and "healthy". Except for the backache that came with Crestor. It looks like my muscle pain is diminishing though. I am afraid to go on zetia either. I am helpless not knowing what to do. My doctor said I have to atleast take the meds for 3 months before the blood test. But then even with this horrible muscle pain he did not ask me to get the CPK tested. Should I ask him? Thank you for the support.
Avatar n tn Is there a clinical study and shows femara vs placebo rather than femara vs tamoifen (novartis trial)? What is the general recommendation? Can you stop femara if side effects become a quality of life issue? Thank you.
Avatar m tn I do have in my family some cases of high cholesterol, all temporary and diagnosed as stress related cases. Her daily diet did not changed, she eats well (meat without fat, vegetables, fruits) as I said, she is very active(she plays all day). The only difference about her is that she has swollen eyes when she wakes up or after crying(more then normal). Doctors said that is not a symptom and that she is in good health. The same doctors were wrong before so...
Avatar n tn My understanding is that the statins with the greatest LDL reducing effect are Crestor, Lipitor, Zocor, and Pravachol, in that order. I don’t mention Leschol and Mevacor since they appear to be rarely used since recently due to the aforementioned being more powerful. Do we have any available solid data on the effects of the various individual statins other than LDL reduction? For example, do we know which ones raise HDL the most? What about effects on particle size or Lp(a), etc.
Avatar n tn Londres is certainly correct that there are a few other options available to treat what could be assumed to be familial hypercholesterolaemia, even though your doctor has obviously tried those that would be most obvious. Generally, if you experience muscle weakness as a side effect of Lipitor (atorvastatin), other statins will produce similar effects, so that eliminates the use of Zocor (simvastatin), Crestor (rosuvastatin) etc.
Avatar n tn I use Rovastatin 10 mg daily for more than 3 years. How long can we take this drug? Is it safe to use long-term?
Avatar m tn What was/is the size of the aorta and left ventricle? Nevertheless, it wouldn't be a cause for a decline in mental facility. The low heart rate is somewhat unusual unless you are in very good physical condition. It is possible and the worst case scenario is that you may have experienced TIA's (transient and tiny blood clot to the brain) or a minor stroke.
Avatar n tn There are all kinds of statins out there, as ed said, you have to find out which one you tolerate. I have been on them for many years as I was unable to lower my LDL with diet and exercise alone. They have worked well and I have had no side effects, but everyone is different. Most of these can be replaced by the generic Simvastatin. It's cheap and is the basis of many of the meds out there.
Avatar n tn Hello, is the drug induced type normalize after someone stops taking the medication? say...Anti psychotics? Does the condition persist even after stopping the drug? Any other way to explain this? I've been ordered an adrenaline test, which I hope to do next week and just wanted some theories as to my sudden weakness/dizziness when angry or agitated. None in my family (to my knowledge) has/had this condition however.

808904 tn?1307057809 s appt for check up on 6/17. CRP is always .4 or .5. I do have stomach burning from time to time. Could this be GERD or something like that? I am planning to discuss this with the doctor but am prone to panic attacks. My doctor nor surgeon never saw fit to send me to a cardiologist for any reason. Could this be a stomach issue?
808904 tn?1307057809 I has been around 110-120 over 55-65. By the way she did prescribe Klonipin .05 mg 2 times a day for me for this It has not seemed to help. I have terrible anxiety about my blood pressure. I am on 50 mg metoprolol 2 times a day and .25 mg hctz a day. Blood work right before the operation showed no problems except really low Vit. D. She gave me med for this. My CRP was normal. I am scared that my other arteries are blocked (heart). Iis it time to see a cardiologist?
Avatar n tn (TSH was 1.28) He put me on 20mg Pravachol for the cholesterol. I also take 0.9 Premarin (estrogen) for a hysterectomy (TAH BSO) I had 2 years ago after years of heavy bleeding. My PCP did not think much of the symptoms after all this bloodwork but referred me to a neurologist to be safe. The neuro has done some test, MRI's, EEg, EMG, bloodwork and general neuro exam and so far says it is definitely not neuro and not MS.
Avatar n tn Here is what Wikipedia has to say, and it is a daunting list that they note may be incomplete. It is quite a long list, but I don't see amoxicillin on it. To be certain, I would talk to the pharmacist.
Avatar f tn The level of creatine phosphokinase enzyme should be checked. If this is raised then there is muscle injury and the drugs should b stopped. If CPK is normal, then the dose and exercise adjustment should help. Fat-soluble statins like Lipitor and Zocor cause more damage than water soluble statins like Pravachol and Crestor. Hence the latter should be tried at lower dose.
Avatar f tn Also on Vitamin D as we speak for a deficiency. What more could be done for nerve compression if this is the main contributing factor. Ice to the neck and muscle relaxers are my only relief at the moment. Is there further testing that might be warranted? Thanks again!
