Avatar f tn He has RAD Reactive Airway Disease which is Asthma when an allergen is present. So, it is not officially called Asthma, but we have all the same items at home that an Asthma patient would require. Mostly on an "as needed" basis. And yes, after exposure, we can be on our nebulizer for days! Worst part of this is he goes from zero to sixty (accelerates fast) with his RAD. His attacks have been pretty bad when he gets them. We carry ORAPRED in a tablet now.
Avatar n tn Her symptoms are swollen tonsils, puss pockets at times on the tonsils, skin tenderness, puffy face. She has been on Orapred for the inflammation and that seems to help. Just wanted to know if these were any symptoms of that disease.

Avatar f tn She has been suffering for 7 months now. We have seen 2 allergists and had skin testing done. It was determined that she is allergic to dust mites only. She was placed on Zyrtec 1mL/mg, 5 mL q daily. This helped but did not completly get rid of the urticaria. About a month ago she developed an itchy rash on her knees, elbows and anterior wrists. At the time they were just sporadic bumps. The bumps soon merged and formed plaques in these areas.
Avatar f tn From your note, the answer is “no”. The second question is does it affect his eating so that he is losing weight? It does not appear that this is the case since you are an excellent historian and did not mention this. The third question is does it affect his sleep? Again, you have not mentioned this. On the basis of those three answers, I would not be as worried as you probably are and continue to use the Flovent as you are doing and stay in close contact with the Pediatric Pulmonologist.
Avatar n tn There are many causes of cough, some infectious or on an allergic basis and some not, for example aspiration (into the lungs) of a foreign body. Allergy is a reasonable consideration and can be present with cough the only “allergic” symptom. You might want to do a careful examination of his room, looking to the possibility of a new, allergic substance having been introduced. Also, cough (without wheeze) can sometimes be the only symptom of asthma.
Avatar n tn I have an 8 year old son that takes pulmicort, and just finished Orapred when I noticed a little bump in the back of his head. He scratches it alot, and I was told by the doctor to put cortizone on it. Because he had asthma, he more than likely had eczema. About a week later, his little bump turned into a big knot, and you can see it if he turns to the side. It itches more now that it has gotten bigger. I don't think it is eczema, but who am I? I am not a doctor.
Avatar n tn My son started doing a similar eye rolling back in Feb. I swear it started after a few doses of Orapred for Croup. Been to pediatrician, neurologist had EEG all came back good. When he rolls his eyes they either go up real quick or up to a side just for a second. I am torn if its a voluntary or involuntary action, sometimes I think he is doing it voluntarily and if thats the case I am not worried, but other times he looks like its involuntary.
Avatar n tn I continue with mouth sores/ulcers and sores on my tongue. The ENT had no answers for me. I finally went to GI and had an endoscope today. No reflux, but I had esophogeal webbing that he loosened and took some biopsies. I am not sure what is esophageal webbing or what causes this. Anyone with insight? I also still don't have any answers as to what is causing the mouth ulcers for months now.
Avatar n tn t have any answers as to what is causing the mouth ulcers for months now. I eat a diet now of only yogurt, mashed potatoes and anything else that goes down easily. I have not had a day since JANUARY that hasn't been affected by these ulcers. I really need some insight. I have also taken a round of Acyclovir. Please help me. I go to an oral surgeon in a few days with hope that he can help. Also, any treatments that you suggest? Biopsy of the ulcers?
Avatar f tn s starting amoxicillon (the white one) for 10 more days. As for the cough, she has been prescribed 3 different meds for her cough pseudophedrine, prednisone (orapred), albuterol, and now prednisone again. Has anyone else's child had a cough that wouldnt go away. She's on the prednisone for 4 days. I'm thinking if the prednisone doesnt work, I'll go back to pseudophedrine.
Avatar f tn That shuts down some of the acid pumps in the stomach reducing the amount of acid and threrefore the chance of having reflux. That is what I get for getting on in the middle of the night and wirting a reply while taking a neb. On the Singulair. The side effect of depression is very scary. I understand your concern there. I do know of many children who have taken it without this side effect.
Avatar f tn looking back they think maybe it was asthma all along. She was on Orapred and asthma meds most of her first 10 yrs. Today is she is almost 18 and only needs her inhaler when ill or rigid exercise. Please let us know how you make out and feel free to PM me anytime!

Avatar f tn When you can't sleep from the withdrawals, I've been told that Trazadone is a good choice for sleep because it isn't a controlled substance, etc. What is the story with this medication?
411389 tn?1230124477 In simple terms, Xanax is a quick fix that a lot of doctors use. It is fast acting. But what you will find is, what you took at first, won't work after a certain amount of time on the tablet. Its effectiveness wears off. So we get the Xanax spiral. To gain the same effect people begin to take a little more and a little more. There are far better forms of medication out there. Longer acting Benzos. They don't lose their effectiveness in the same way and last longer in the system.
