Avatar f tn This is an antipsychotic class medication, and is normally used to treat bipolar and schizophrenia. I am not sure if many people in this anxiety forum would know all that much about it. If you are on the bipolar or schizophrenia forums you might have better luck there with questions about this medication. I also have bipolar so I am familiar with antipsychotics though. I have never been on Zyprexa, but have been on many other antipsychotics. I had a horrible experience with them.

Avatar f tn It could be a lot of things but I just want to say that olanzapine's drug metabolism is increased with fluvoxamine which could cause increased adverse effects regarding the olanzapine. Like you leg pain could be caused by extra restlessness caused by increased drug matabolism regarding the interaction with both drug or simple adverse reaction from olanzapine that can get worse by increased drug metabolism.
698408 tn?1256958348 I actually had enough focus to clean my bathroom and organize a bit, which is awesome. What is short term and what is longer term where you live?
Avatar f tn this caused problems at first as if I took them too late and then went to sleep before they kicked in, I would sleep right through my alarm, I quickly adopted what time I should take them and stuck at about 7pm to get to sleep for 11pm - 12am. Before I was on olanzapine I couldnt sleep till 4am after going to bed at 11pm and having my eyes closed for all that time whilst trying to sleep, the problem was was that my mind was racing, and couldnt turn off.
8798274 tn?1399988458 Hi, Zyprexa (olanzapine) is used to treat the symptoms of psychotic conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. You should always follow the directions of your doctor regarding medications. Your doctor knows you and is able to take your numerous specific circumstances into consideration when deciding what medication and how much is likely appropriate for you specifically.
Avatar n tn Well, it’s natural for you to feel apprehensive as being shifted to a new drug and its dose is being reduced. Both Olanzapine and Resperidone are atypical antipsychotics. So, basically, you will be taking the same class of antipsychotics. Resperidone is however a very potent antipsychotic. The response to treatment has been found to be more stable with Resperidone, so that’s a plus point with this drug.
628714 tn?1268238196 Hi Zyprexa (generic Olanzapine) is an atypical antipsychotic medication. Zyprexa is used to treat the symptoms of psychotic conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder (manic depression). The most commonly reported side effects are sleepiness or excessive sleeping, dizziness, dry mouth and weight gain. Other side effects include akathisia (an inability to sit still), constipation, dizziness, orthostatic hypotension and tremors.
Avatar f tn Yes there could be two concerns one of which might be what the Olanzapine is treating and the other could be the potential of it causing cognitive confusion and other related side effects. There could be other concerns as well but only your psychiatrist would understand the specifics but it would be worth discussing with them so they can keep track of whats going on and see how to appropriate adjust your medication within their clinical discretion.
Avatar n tn I have a question. Are drugs in the benzo family ever used to treat seizures? As in Xanax, Klonopin, Valium, Ativan, Restoril, etc? I have simple partial seizures and was on xanax on an "as needed" basis to control some nervousness about going back to college. I was on it for about 2 months. I started realizing I got less of my sensory and motor seizures which have always been uncontrollable since I started getting them back in 2000.
Avatar n tn But it results in constipation, so I stopped taking that and now just stick to the Divalproex and Olanzapine. What is Nexito anyway for? Is it an antidepressant?
603015 tn?1329862973 Hi I have started to tapper off olanzapine because of the weight gain, I have noticed that after just a week on the reduced amount I have started to have sleep problems, I am finding it harder and harder to get to sleep, then when I do get to sleep I am waking through the night, could this be the reduction in the med and what should I do if anything, im not due to see me pdoc until 1 june when I would be fully off this med.
5790942 tn?1374334321 Though I agee every body is different Gabapetin which is safe to use up to doses of 2400mg a day will stop WDs in their tracks. When I say safe to use I am speaking from the consult of a Yale MD neurologist. Not that it's without side effects which are very temporary since after 3-4 days you don't need anymore Gabapetin and the WD's are gone. Not only this but Gabapetin has over a 80% success rate in treating RLS and chronic nerve pain.
Avatar f tn My osteoarthritis is suddenly much more painful just after my colonoscopy June 3. I’m wondering if the Versed and Fentanyl that were used could be the cause? If so, what measures can I take? Can’t take NSAIDS. I take Tylenol 8 hr once a day. Drink cherry juice, exercise on a bike and drink lots of water. I use magnesium chloride pain cream too. I’m 74. I take propranolol 10mg 2X a day & olanzapine 2.5 once a day. I have also been under Extreme financial stress.

Avatar n tn Another class of medications useful for the treatment of tics are antipsychotics, such as haloperidol, pimozide, or fluphenazine (these are the generic names, trade names will vary by country) (they are used to treat psychosis such as occurs with schizophrenia but are also used to treat tics). However, these medications commonly cause bothersome side effects. Another type of this class of medications is risperdone, olanzapine (zyprexa), and ziprasidone.
