What is monocryl suture

Common Questions and Answers about What is monocryl suture

monopril

Avatar f tn You could have developed an allergic reaction to the sutures and this usually depends on the composition of the sutures. They are catgut (plain/chromium), vicryl monocryl or vicryl rapidel. This is more so because you have developed the rash on the suture lines. Anti histamines from the mainstay of therapy. Though short courses of steroids are given for more severe symptoms. Discuss with your doctor regarding this.
Avatar n tn Thanks so much for your comment. I've been taking antibiotics for almost 2 weeks now, so there is no obvious infection although now I've stopped. I'm hoping it's something that will just disappear or be resorbed as my periodontist says. I'm very willing to wait 2 weeks as he requested, however, after that period of time, I think it's important to know what it is, if it's still there. I wouldn't be comfortable with it as is.
Avatar n tn The string is most likely a suture and the cut was where the tissue was reflected to aid in removal of what was most likely an impacted wisdom tooth. Check with your surgeon, but this is all normal it sounds at this point.
Avatar n tn 1) my skin is very thin... with the suture being present in the body for months, will they spit through the skin through the fold and create wound healing problems? (I have areola incision) 2) from your experience, have you seen patients having allergic reactions or not tolerate PDS suture well? I have had bad experience with catgut before and therefore am very worried about my own tissue reactions with sutures... 3) what should I expect in terms of recovery of this procedure?
Avatar f tn This creates a loop at the internal opening through which a vascular sling is placed. The suture is drawn through and the sling tied loosely. The knot is secured with a silk stitch to prevent it slipping.
Avatar m tn And a couple weeks after surgery i puled a internal suture from the incision area, and about a week later i pulled another internal suture string from the incision area again. Where the staples were on the outside. Should I worry. I wanted to hear from somebody other than the surgeon who did the work.
Avatar f tn I know most wont due VBAC especially after 2 c-sections and you seem to have a history of complications during pregnancy. I think the priority is healthy mom and baby and from what you have said a c-section seems the safest option.
Avatar n tn Hi. Yes, suture spitting out is a normal thing that can happen. It can of course be uncomfortable while trying to come out. As your doctor said, your body hasn't dissolved them. Your body is seeing them as a foreign body & wants them out. You could ask him what kind of suture he used. The most common suture that people have problems with is Vicryl suture.
Avatar m tn Usually, I also try to only remove one suture per visit to see how the astigmatism changed, them move carefully to the next suture on the next visit if everything is OK. I think it is very important to tell your surgeon right away what you are experiencing. I'm sure he would want to know. Basically it sounds like you may have some astigmatism issues but see your surgeon right away to make sure - since there are definitely other possibilities.
Avatar f tn I had a small, brownish, triangular item come out which caused bleeding for a couple of hours. I was told it was probably a suture clip. Should these come out? should I be concerned?
Avatar n tn The fragment was removed two weeks after the original surgery and a single suture removed four days later. Now, twelve days after the surgery, my vision is 20/40, and what I have found is a decided worsening of astigmatism since removal of the fragment. I am concerned that 12 days after the first surgery my vision was better than the same time lapse after the second surgery. Is that to be expected? I am also concerned about the possibility of irregular astigmatism.
Avatar n tn I agree that it needs to be looked at more closely but would disagree with the "get stitched up" comment. Bleeding from the incision three months out is most likely due to a residual suture that is serving as a nidus of infection. Your body can't completely fight the infection if there is foreign body such as a suture present.
Avatar f tn trimming a suture is not the same as re-doing a scleral buckle procedure.
Avatar f tn With this, wound healing will be impaired until the non-absorbed suture is removed. After 9 days, the wound should be healing well already, if not completely healed. You should go back to your surgeon to have it checked. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Please help me.
Avatar n tn Dear Dr Rosenberg, I had a lower face lift with platysmal plication. The permanent sutures that were left inside seemed to cause my tissue in my throat under my chin to swell out like a bullfrog. I mean huge and my previuosly flat jawline became rounded and jowly. I had a ct scan done and showed a mass of irritated tissue. My PS performed a second surgery 3 months after the first to remove the permanent sutures.
Avatar f tn Suture material may be a bit slow to absorb in this area so this may be nothing more than protracted inflammation as a consequence of persistent suture material. Still 8 weeks is getting a little far out for persistent inflammation so I am certain your doctor will want to know you still have a painful spot on the perineum.
Avatar n tn Thanks. What is the ''globe' please? A suture leak sounds major and unavoidable, with or without a knock. Pretty sure that didn't happen, I hope.
Avatar f tn Currently, I am using only the Clobetesol once a day. Does anyone have any experience with Vicryl suture allergies? I should add that the incisions themselves are raised and feel hard. So far, the incisions are clean and have had no drainage or sutures popping through.
Avatar m tn Above the scar where they sewed me up, by about 1 cm there is a hard little lump, it is too far away in my mind to be a suture, but the doctor says that it is. How can it be if it isnt part of the line, its feels like it is in the muscle beneath the skin, it feels quite firm and doesnt seem to move around. If its a recurrence or new cancer, would it have shown up on the X Ray before the operation? Has anyone else experienced this? and if so what was it?.
Avatar m tn intolerable pain when gauze threads get stuck in suture spikes.i thought suture sites should be rather painfree by now,but burning sensatio and pain stil remains no swelling ,no redness ,rather clean, doesnot look infected, contacted my doc,he said its normal. 8 days too long for suture sites to be painful and sore.
Avatar f tn I had a robotic hysterectom 4 months ago. They also took out my cervic. I can feel hard threadlike stitches inside of me. I was told that thery were supposed to use desolving stitches. Is this true. I am having pain on my right side also. My husband said that when we are having sex that he can feel the thread and it is hurting him. Is this normal? My doctor is on vacation and won't be back until Oct 3rd and can't see me until Oct 10th. what can I do?? Any suggestion? I need help please.
Avatar m tn They also suspsect that my eyelid irriation is being caused by contacts but it could be caused by buckle/suture. So what they recomended is for me to not wear contacts for a week. I also got prescribed lotomox in the eye My question is: 1. After 4-5 days on Lotomax the eyelid irriation has gone done, but still present. Is this normal? 2. They said they could "shave down the stitch if needed". Was does this entail and is this more the cause of my irriation or would it be contacts.
Avatar m tn Hi, I had the buckle surgery about 8 years ago to treat my retinal detachment. Since the surgery, I've always had a lot of scar tissue around the RD eye, but learned to live with it. Most opthamalogist I saw afterwards said my surgeon did a poor job, in regards to leaving too much scar tissue, but I digress.
