Avatar n tn If you are having such a hard time of it on the Suboxone then going back on the Methadone may be the best choice for you. Im curious why you transitioned from Methadone to Suboxone in the first place. You wont go into precipitated withdrawals going from Suboxone to Methadone. That only happens going the other way.
Avatar f tn It will be a fight, so dont take it for granted, but you must do it for yourself. The Methadone is just a synthetic opiate that will only prolong your battle and will be even harder to conquer in the end. I hope this helps you make a good decision. I came off of 600-700 mgs a day. Best of luck in your decision. This is just my humble opinion. May God bless you and keep you in your future struggle with this issue.
415399 tn?1209504302 What is sub? how does it differ from methadone? my boyfriend is heavily addicted to oxy's and its making our lives miserable, he treated by a pain managment Md, at the moment he is going through the worst withdrawels since I have known him (1 year) he is totally incapacitated and he doesn't get his next script till Friday, how does "sub" work?
Avatar f tn I think it is a crime that every doctor is pushing methadone for pain relief, due to pressure of the costs of other available, less harmful methods. Is there a panel ANYWHERE looking into this epidemic for the pain SUFFERER? I am NOT going to become a methadone addict because it is SO CHEAP! I have several family members on methadone, much to THEIR chagrin, and now they can't get off it.
Avatar f tn f u are wondering what lamm is im here to answer ur question. it is a form of methadone that lasts much longer. u would go to a clinic Monday Wednesday and Friday. its designed to stay in ur system much longer and takes twive as long to begin withdrawling from then methadone. its abbreviated for levo alpha acetyl methadole. a lot of clinics stopped prescribing lamm about 8 years ago due to how strong it was.
Avatar f tn It took me a long time off opiates to recognize what was real pain and what pain was caused by opiate addiction. My pain is more tolerable off opiates than it was on opiates. Anyway, what else do you do for your pain, besides meds?
Avatar f tn I was on Methadone for a while and it really depends on the dosage she is on for what will control pain. Plus if she has been on other Narcotic pain medications and is started on a very low dose of Methadone she may not feel any or very little results. Methadone is also a highly addictive drug which is harder to detox off of than heroin.
Avatar f tn TN is not a methadone friendly state. My pain management specialist had me on methadone for 12 years after trying other optoids with no success. I regained about 70% of my ability to function and good pain relief. I was able to go back to work after a year in bed. With the controversery over the increase of methadone related deaths my doctor decided to wean me off methadone and put me on pain patches, then morphine, then oxy everything.
631581 tn?1224844661 Not for addicts but for those who have USED or are USING methadone for chronic pain. I would really love to talk with more people who are in the same shoes I am in. But then I've had chronic pain since I was 17. I'm 34 now and it seems like it just might be my life. Without methadone I was taking 4 Advil every 8 hours and I've ruined my stomach. So there's another trade off. The fact is there doesn't seem to be an answer.
1264367 tn?1408104163 I can only eat a small bowl of oatmeal before I take my methadone and then another small one for lunch. I also have a hernia in my stomach which causes me to have tons more acid then normal. Every three months I get very painful and violent episodes of vomiting sulfur and last week for the first time ever it was also bright yellow bile. My stomach is in extreme pain when I'm about to start getting sick. I'm just so sick and tired.
1064938 tn?1255282319 This is what we need. Only people who take or have taken methadone understand about it. I am here to say that methadone has saved my life. Some people have such a negative opion of methadone but I think it is a great start to a road of recovery. Sure a lot of people abuse it but for those of us who want to do the right thing it really does work. I hope the Methadone Community stays for a long time to come. I do not even know how I found it. What is the web address to get here.
939983 tn?1262528060 5 mg of hydrocodone is equivalent to about 15 mg of methadone. But this is for single dose not for long term pain management treatment. Most physicians beleive in the good practice to start low, go slow. Remember that methadone builds up in your system. It is stored in your body tissues. So it may take days before the full effectiveness of methadone is realized. Methadone levels in the blood will continue to increase for five days from the initial dose.
Avatar f tn Are you saying that you only took one dose of Methadone? If that is what I read, something does not sound right. After years of this, haven't you seen a cardiologist? You really should. You need to get to the bottom of this. If I am interpreting this wrong, please correct me.
2183581 tn?1369937547 But I have been in chronic pain for the past few years. And have been struggling for the past year with no insurance. Fighting with doctors dealing with stolen meds, bad massage therapist, bad acupuncture, and trying to deal with my life. Okay another the catch up my post for my question is related to this. I finally broke down and paid cash to see a pain management doctor in desperation hoping that he could help me get off the couch.
1326416 tn?1370927001 What is the best forum to join regarding methadone and pain management?
175688 tn?1297556647 Hey you, DO NOT take suboxine!!!!!!!! I was a hydro head and if you take the withdrawl it will be about 5 -7 days at the most, but if you start the sub's you will go thrru what I just did. Im currently on day 12 15 hours in to be exact, and I still feel it a bit. So take it from me the 4 days of HELL are better than 12 days of HELL, right? Your a stronger person than you think!!! You will get thru it.
Avatar f tn Is it a good idea to replace high doses of oxycontin, that you have tolerated for years, no highs, pain relief, but still quite a bit of pain, for methadone, forever? My dack surgeon says the switch will kill me and would have to be done in the hospital over a long period, and even then, he refuses to even entertain the idea, and he has been my back dr. for15 yrs. (I had 2 back surgeries in 1995 abd 1996 and no relief after last surgery, except I could walk again.
Avatar f tn Jaqui, methadone is an excellent medication for pain for a variety of reasons, and helped me to manage pain of a long-term spine disorder for 12 years. There is research that links methadone to a particular cardiac problem. The cause is poorly understood, but to minimize risk, my doctor has ordered a 12-lead ekg with my annual physical (when I am using methadone), since i am also in my 60s. So far, I remain without cardiac symptoms.
Avatar m tn My question for the group is what drugs are being given to yoiu for long term pain care. To let you know about me I have stenosis in my entire spine, ruptured discs in both cervical and lumbar areas with nerve damage, constant pain, on a scale of 1 to 10 always between a 6 and 10 . I have loss of feeling in my hands and the constantly shake. I am a fall risk due to constant loss of balance. I am also starting to loose feeling in my feet.
Avatar f tn ll be free of all withdraw symptoms from the vicodin and just be in the clear. Free and clear of all pain meds. Is this something that could happen? Is the methadone helping me battle the vicodin addiction? or am I trading one drug for another? This is my concern.
1312494 tn?1273749561 They gave me another 100mcg/h Fentanyl patch and a referral to a pain management specialist. He is not available for another month and there is no guarantee he will prescribe the methadone either. I am seriously concerned about not having anything for the pain. I no longer take the Oxycodones and did not renew my prescription this month because I have plenty of them and they do not work at all when the pain is this severe.
Avatar n tn hi, my husband is on 60mg of methadone (pill form) a day for chronic back pain. He's been on this regimen for 4 years now. If he runs out of his pills before he gets the new script how long will the last dose of methadone stay in his system and how quickly will the "dt's" start? I am asking because the doc had to resched his appt and he might run short and want to be prepared.
Avatar f tn The best suggestion I have for someone with long term chronic pain (such as my wife had, she was on pain meds for 10 years, accidentally died from them) is read chapter 1 of the book "The Brain's Way of Healing: Remarkable Discoveries and Recoveries from the Frontiers of Neuroplasticity" by Norman Doidge, M.D.
Avatar n tn s hard for me to tell sometimes what is from the methadone withdrawal and what is from my other problems (severe reflux disease, pain from thoracic outlet syndrome in my arm, which is a nerve inpingement, arthritis, bone pain from cancer meds, shortness of breath on exercise, fatigue). Can you be specific about what withdrawal symptoms you've experienced? It might help me if I knew what to look out for as I get lower so I can identify problems as withdrawal related or not.
Avatar n tn Yes! I have been on methadone fo pain control. It's a common misconception that it is only for recovering heroin addicts. I also do know that it is given for long-term pain, and NOT pain that should go away after a surgical procedure. Drugs like percocet, vicoden , or oxycodone are given for post-surgical type pain. Methadone is a chronic pain medication, as well as treatment for opiate addiction.
