184420 tn?1326739808 this is really driving me insane... have had the contacts out for a week and using the glasses but my eyes are still burning, itching, and watering when im outside during the day, working inside with lights off, blinds closed, etc... i just ordered a new pair of glasses with the transition lenses but they told me those are not really sunglasses but hoping it might help a little...
Avatar n tn s active ingredient) removed the Ketone group from prednisolone molecule and replaced it with an Ester carbon creating an Ester Corticosteroid also know as a site-specific corticosteroid. What this means in terms of efficacy is that Lotemax is more more lipophilic and has better corticosteroid receptor binding affinity than its ketone steroid counter parts. Additionally, once the drug enters the eye any unbound drug is instantly and predictably metabolized.
Avatar n tn This is correct. It's why lotemax was developed and why its so expensive.
Avatar n tn m scared that I damaged my eye lenses with a steroid. I want to do what is best for my eyes and he wants me to taper to 1 drop a day for 5 days. I feel like throwing it in the trash. He said that it could've been there for awhile, that he sees 30 year olds with cataracts. I reminded him of his glowing report (and all my previous optometrist and opthalomology exams and never being told I had cataract.
Avatar m tn Lotemax is the brand name of the drug loteprednol. It is a steroid anti-inflammatory like Pred Forte and likely is to be used in place of Pred Forte (or the other way around). You would need to ask your doctor to be sure. "Lotepred" on the label must refer to the generic name of loteprenol. The brand name of Ketorolac, which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, is Acular. So, nothing you have replaces the Ketorolac. Sorry. Maybe your doctor could give you a sample. P.S.
Avatar n tn I currently have four permanent silicon plugs in for 3 weeks and have been on lotemax for three weeks. My doctor is tapering me off the steroid, but should I start restasis with 4 plugs or remove plugs then start restasis? Sorry for loaded question.
Avatar f tn Worried I had an eye infection I called my doctor and I was prescribed to go on lotemax for a month. Almost immediately the discharge went away and I was fine as I finished my prescription. During this time I visited my doc to double check things and she said it was actually mostly meibomian gland dysfunction along with allergies. She just recommended the lastacaft again along with a daily eye cleanser once I finished the lotemax.
Avatar m tn Alrex would be a milder steroid but Lotemax is also relatively safe. As long as you don't get significant pressrue elevation/ glaucoma, I would do what the cornea specialist recommends.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Lotemax for a few months. My doctor said as long as my IOP remains low I can take this for years. If I develop a cataract from this and have to have surgery will cataract continue to comeback if I continue taking Lotemax?
Avatar m tn My eye doctor told me I had inflammation due to dry eyes and put me on Lotemax for 2 weeks (1 drop in the morning and 1 drop at night) I was wondering if it’s safe to use for 2 weeks without any problems?
Avatar n tn Might also want to rule out thyroid disease. Lotemax is probably not something you want to be on long term since it is a moderately strong steroid. I suggest looking in to taking a daily multivitamin, adding a good amount of fish oil and flaxseed oil supplent, avoid lots of wind, dust, sunlight, ceiling fans, and dry hot air. Look into allergy drops like Pataday, frequent use of preservative free artificial tears, and possibly punctal plugs and restasis drops long term.
Avatar m tn I mentioned is this the steriod as 3 days ago they were 24 and 26! He replied Lotemax is not known to raise pressures and I must continue and he also prescribed me Timolol. I am on Lotemax for 3 weeks (3 times 1st week, Twice 2nd week, Once 3rd week). I have tried to talk to the docs about any damage I might have occurred with pressures of 58 as for how long could they have been that high! But they do not reply.
Avatar f tn Hello. My eye doctor is monitoring an epiretinal membrane in my left eye. It seems to be very slowly detaching with the use of Lotemax and Nevanac eye drops, with a small section yet to go. Today I experienced a sharp pain in my left eye while reaching for something, then a couple minutes of tears flowing. I've experienced that pain (tho not as sharp) a couple of times during this period. Felt like an eyelash in the eye, but there was nothing visible in my eye.
Avatar m tn i treated with topical steroid (FLAREX) since 1 minth ago...my problem is, can nummular keratitis cured?? Di I have to use the topical steroid for the rest of my life...added more, I have large optic disk, with normal visual field. Seek your opinion.
1958686 tn?1468782903 Well the most important thing is getting back in. Lotemax is a steroid so your improvement is surely due to the reduction in inflammation which assuredly was surgery related.
Avatar n tn Lotemax is a steroid. You should get the instructions from the MD that prescribed them.
Avatar n tn help!!!! i have had episcleritis on and off for 10 years. In the past 3 years it has gotten so bad. My eyes constantly stay red. I am seeing a rhematologist, but he just seems to shove medicine down my throat. I have had all blood work done, I don't have any rhematology diseases like lupus or RA. The only thing that works to clear it up is high doeses of prednsone. Once I am weined off, it flares right back up.
Avatar n tn Now I have the steroid the doctor has given me that I am really cautious about putting in my eyes because it has a lot of other stuff in it. If my eyes have been like this for a month, is there any hope of the tearing going away naturally? Thank you.
Avatar f tn t close to his office, he only called in a prescription for lotemax. I rushed in to see him the next day and after checking my eye pressure and looking into both my eyes he said I had severe allergies which were affecting my eyes and suggested I also take a decongestant. I use the lotemax quite often but today again, I have pain in my left eye and it's also a little teary.
Avatar n tn Hello Doctor I got GPC on my left eye when I overused my contacts and I was on Lotemax for about 2 months, the bumps went away but I still have problems on my left eye. its usually redder than my right eye and my upper eyelid gets itchy and swollen randomly time to time, I tried Allaway but it didn't help, I also use a lot of Artificial tears and Gels so I'm sure its not from dryness.
Avatar f tn 60 yr old female. Have been dealing with dry eye for over a year. Antibiotics, Lotemax drops, Lotemax gel, Blink lubricating drops, Now; Refresh PM gel, Systane Ultra lubricating drops and Restasis. Optimologist prescribed Restasis 6 weeks ago. Still not sure why eyes are red all of the time. Suggested allergy testing, which I have scheduled now. Optomologist says that he still isn't sure what is going on and wants to put plugs in my eyes.
Avatar n tn i had a pink eye in february, the infection went away but the swelling on my upper eyelid is not going away. took Lotemax for 3 weeks, but there was no improvement. its been more than a month now and the swelling is not going away. i even tried hot and cold compress but there was no change. what should i do??
Avatar m tn My eye doctor told me I had inflammation due to dry eyes and put me on Lotemax for 2 weeks (1 drop in the morning and 1 drop at night) I was wondering if it’s safe to use for 2 weeks without any problems?
Avatar f tn A few days later I went back to the OD and was given Azasite for what was possibly a bacterial conjunctivitis. This seemed to clear the infection and in about 5 days I was free of the red eye and pain so I resumed contact lens wear after about 10 days. Well, about 3 days after wearing my contacts I noticed that my vision was very hazy like looking through a frosted glass window and lights seem to have a starburst or halo effect.
Avatar f tn I decided to go to the Optometrist since it was close to my work and I can get in and out quickly. She prescribed Muro 128 for the edema and put me back on the Lotemax which I have been on for about 2 weeks at about 4x' a day. My vision is in the left eye is still bad in fact I can't really read the eye chart at all when they refracted me in fact the letters look like they are bleeding like someone poured water on a piece of paper.
Avatar m tn Something is not adding up. Map-dot-fingerprint dystrophy is the old descriptive term for what is now called anterior basement membrane disease (or sometimes epithelial basement membrane disease). It only interferes with vision if it is quite severe. The most common problem is a condition called recurrent corneal erosion, and you can read a ton about that at www.dryeyezone.com. RCE is extremely painful, you would know if you were having them.
