What is losartan used for

Common Questions and Answers about What is losartan used for

cozaar

Avatar m tn Losartan is a really good drug with few side effects. 50 mg is not a high dose. It should not be causing any of the problems you mention. Ask your doctor.
Avatar n tn Thanks for the link. The early result is encouraging. What's really great is that this drug is already approved for hypertension and is being used widely. This makes clinical trials much easier and allows for off-label use by hepatologists. Interestingly, the U.S. and Europe have given up on making recommendations for a one size fits all approach to hypertension. There is now more focus on treating hypertension while taking into consideration other comorbidities.

2009161 tn?1327915695 Today my BP has come down to 135/80, any ways can I continue using the same medicine? Could you please tell me if Losartan Potasium has calcium in it. What is calcium channel blocker? My mom was treated with By pass surgery recently and she has been shown that there is calcium lesion that has been there in one of her heart arteries, Is it because of these tablets(Losartan Potasium). Please help me clarify this Doctor.
Avatar n tn This is an interesting side effect and should be reported to the FDA through the form on their website. That being said, Losartan is a very good drug with many life-saving benefits.
Avatar n tn Now since 5 days back I forgot to take Losartan at my usual time in morning, but took it in evening. What happened that my BP is not cominh down, I take metprolol 25 mg in morning and after an hour or so BP becomes more or less normal but start rising after 9pm and in the morning ranges the same as mentioned earlier. Should I start taking metprolol 25 mg in evening as well.
Avatar m tn But you are describing hypersensitivity. Losartan is associated for some with tremor. I would wonder if the sound issue is not related to a bit of anxiety. I'm not really seeing anything in the literature to support what you describe with retards to sound being louder but sensory experiences can be affected whenever our nervous system is not regulated. Please check in with your doctor and let us know what they say.
973741 tn?1342342773 I have been taking Lisinopril for decades and switched to Losartan in July. Personally I would take a controlled reading of around 130/80 for me as acceptable.
Avatar m tn I was on losartan for a few months. I don't think that my bp was consistenlty high. I think what was going on was that it was very up and down and it was making me feel pretty bad. But losartan which is a third line for bp was the first thing that they put me on. And I don't think my bp was that bad. I have had elevated renin/aldosterone studies and low potassium in the past.
Avatar n tn I think that is what he is saying---- you shouldn't miss more than one dose.
Avatar m tn I have been experiencing a low heart rate for as long as I can remember recording it. It falls in the lines of 40s-60s resting usually below 60's. i have been experiencing frequent heart palpitations(skipping beats) when in resting and working out sometime. Should I be concerned? Will I have to have a pacemaker? I do get dizzy sometimes, I also have hypertension my Bp runs in the 140's consistently, diastolic usually normal 70-80 usually.
Avatar f tn High blood pressure but often have lower readings when calm and not in a doctors office. Recent CRP test was 4 which is high risk for heart attack. Recent Potassium level is fine. Recent FSH is elevated indicating possible menopause. Recent symptoms - always tired, long lasting headaches that come and go. some night sweats (my body feels like its giving off heat- with chest tightness but not often.
1008841 tn?1293598960 If you have high blood pressure then ask your doctor to put you on losartan (Cozaar) Not sure what a doctor would do without high BP. You could search clinicaltrials.
Avatar f tn Hallo there -anyone and everyone. Is there any reasons to prefer or take losartan above olmesartan or the olmesartan above losartan. Person taking these is african, 57 years, female and oh, my mother.
Avatar m tn there is no downside to using it, especially as it well tolerated and inexpensive.
Avatar m tn His averaged blood pressure is 146/80. He was placed on losartan potassium (50 mg) for 8 days but there is no change to his averaged blood pressure. Would you advice him continuing losartan or seek new drugs? Many thanks. Avatar m tn She is on one Ecotrin per day, but I believe the doctor (now having seen an MI and thinking she is at risk for more) is trying to use something more potent to again lower the risk of another MI by lowering the risk of a clot (moreso than the Ecotrin can provide). What I'm still not happy with is both a beta blocker and an Angiotensin II. My Dad only needed a beta blocker and she gets overwhelmed with so many meds and doesn't tolerate them well.
Avatar n tn I'm light headed, vision narrows, anxiety when driving beyond 45mph. Doesn't happen when i'm a passenger. I have to slow down when it occurs, sometimes hitting the breaks nervously. Feels like im gonna pass out. Im on losartan for high blood pressure. Dr's have done blood work, eye doctor didnt see anything wrong, sugar levels are in normal range. I dont have to be thinking about any stressful things for it to happen. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn is there a reason your doctor used this medication to lower blood pressure, it does seem a little out of the ordinary unless you have other medical problems. This medication works by forcing more water extraction from the blood, basically making you urinate much more to keep a lower volume of blood in the body. Is this because you have kidney problems? This medication can cause inflammation of the throat and/or airways so it may be the cause of your symptoms.
Avatar m tn What is your heart rate like with your blood pressure you mentioned? Did the doctor also suggest any lifestyle changes to try to naturally reduce your blood pressure, particularly at your young adult age?
