My 16y/o daughter has UC. Has been on Lialda 2.4 g/day for 6 months. She was on prednisone for the first 4 months of the same time period. Has had significant hair loss for the last 5 months. Cortisol AM is normal. My duaghter also has ITP and is considered chronic, it usually manifests during a UC flare up. Is the Lialda a possible culprit.
I am on Lialda as well. I do not have experience any symptoms from the medication. Though, if you do not swollow the pill quick enough, it can start to dissolve in your mouth leaving a bad taste, or if you do not swollow enough water and you burp, you can also get a bad taste in your mouth, haha.

Hello, I am a 47 year old male, diagnosed with ulcerative colitis when I was 26. Over the past couple of years, I have noticed on occasion that I will have white streaks in my stool. Most of it is a normal color, just with white streaks embedded. Not mucus-y. I've noticed it quite a bit the past couple of weeks.
I was on Asacol for many years, but my new insurance company made we switch to Lialda a couple of months ago (three 1.2GM tablets 1x daily).
I am then staying on a maintenance dose of 250mg/day until I can get the vaccine in 6mos at age 60. My question is if it is safe for me to go ahead with my scheduled dolphin swim. Am I putting myself at risk? Am I putting anyone else at risk? I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible. Thank you for your input.
I have had for several days now facial pain more on the right side and traveling pain throughtout my body. I wake up feeling great and as the day progresses I start to feel run down, fatigue, my face starts to hurt, my lips hurt sometimes, then my head will start to hurt like it feels like its burning inside, travels in my toes, fingers, arms, legs, feet, hands and this will last for hours. Then I will be fine for a while and then it will start all over again. I do have UC as well.
I have a history of rectal cancer 2007 with resection. Cancer free now. Last colonoscopy 2011 with some colitis per biopsy & diverticuli. On lialda and gluten free diet for IBS symptoms with good control of painful episodes. Recent hard stools last few days. I also take stool softener & fiber pill which usually keeps things soft and moving. Today I noticed red tinged stools in the am I noticed the toilet water being red tinged when I came home from work.
I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in early stage. Right now I am talking Lialda 1.2 mg 3 tablets once a day. The above symptoms have totally vanished. But literally I am not eating any spicy food or fibre food. I want to know the diet plan.I really lost weight. I have a new problem past 2 weeks. Every morning around 6.30 am or so i have a contracting pain in my lower left ribs. It's very stabbing and also I have lower back pain.
I have a NEW G.I. doc who keeps referring me to a colonoscopy and an MRCP before she decides to do anything but I've had a flare-up of UC for a month and need some relief. Today I saw a whole Asacol HD tablet excreted and the G.I.doc said "that's ok--it's still absorbed." Ok--so now I must be reasonable and ask a question as how is it absorbed when NONE OF IT--repeat, NONE OF IT---is degraded at all? This woman doesn't get it. Anyway, what should I do now?
t appear to be in a specific spot (general abdominal discomfort and what sometimes feels like swelling). The pain is pretty much always there, but varies from very mild to severe (causing me to leave work on two occasions). It's frequently worst right when I wake up and I’ve noticed that sleep/lying on my stomach will cause severe pain after a while.
Hi, I'm a 42 YOA female. After a colonoscopy, I was diagnosed with microscopic colitis and gastritis, approximately 15 months ago.I was given a treatment plan that included probiotics, Metamucil and vitamins. I have not seen any improvement. I was also tested for celiac disease, and other gastrointestinal disorders. I have 2 children and were blessed with hemorrhoids after their births. For the last 3 weeks I have been experiencing the most extreme flare with the hemorrhoids!
asacol also, but would later switch to lialda...much easier for me....also imurin,75mg..daily...everything pretty good...till I begin the weaning process, once it gets down to the 20mg....I'm only speaking of the pred...all else is same...we "jockey", if you will, around the weaning, back to 2o for extra 2 weeks..then resume weaning......alot of time seems pretty good, however it'd flare in some way and we'd start at the 20 again...Still livable, yes...
