Common Questions and Answers about What is fibromyalgia pain muscles

fibromyalgia

Avatar n tn Hi! Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain problem. It is not something you can cure. The symptoms can be treated and the pain controlled somewhat. It does not progress. Some medications that can help with the pain are Lyrica (PreGablin) and Neurontin (Gabapentin). Both of these are helpful and which one is better depend on the person. So if you have fibro you could ask your doctor about these. I hope that this answers your question a bit. If you have more questions feel free to ask.

666921 tn?1254990618 Newly diagnosed with Lyme, but for the past two years plus I have complained of sternum/rib/chest wall pain. It is odd because sometimes exercise helps and other times exercise will worsen the pain. Sometimes I can breeze through a work out and others I can barely make it before my bones and muscles start to ache and the next few days to weeks are hell as the pain increases. Sometimes just repetitive motion like scrubbing a bathtub will bring on the pain.
Avatar f tn Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition that causes pain and stiffness throughout the tissues that support and move the bones and joints. Pain and localized tender points occur in the muscles, particularly those that support the neck, spine, shoulders and hips. The disorder includes widespread pain, fatigue and sleep disturbances.
Avatar f tn By the sounds of things, this is not related to your fibromylagia and you should most likely follow up with your doctor to find out what is wrong. Especially if it is that severe that your pain meds are not helping.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and I was wondering if I can have it in my stomach muscles. My pain is always there but sometimes goes away for a month and then comes back.Could this be part of the fibro?
Avatar f tn For a very long time now I've had pain that feels deep in the muscles of my upper back and shoulders. I've always kinda thought that either something is out or I'm just tense. The past few months the pain is worse and has spread to other parts of my body.
551343 tn?1506830518 I am wondering now if i should perhaps see my GP about fibromyalgia i dont suppose it can do any harm, but i am not sure if she knows what it is either lol.
Avatar f tn Saturday April 18, 2009 Did you know that some fibromyalgia (FMS) pain may be caused by low blood flow to our muscles? The medical name for that is ischemia (ih-SKEE-mee-ah). We've had some limited evidence of ischemia in FMS for a few years, and it's an area that researchers are pursuing. Basically, muscles hurt and can't work right when they don't get enough blood and the oxygen it carries - think of how hard it is to walk after your foot has fallen asleep!
Avatar m tn What causes sharp pains chest, in the back and every part of the body. The pain comes and goes regulaly.
1033336 tn?1252506131 The characteristic feature of Fibromyalgia is a muscle pain mostly in neck, back, thighs, and hips. There is presence of specific tender points in these areas that trigger the pain. Along with this there is morning stiffness in the muscles, brain fog, dizziness and other neurological symptoms. Since you are suffering from pain specifically located at the joints, and it started after the flu, the pains are related to the viral infection.
Avatar f tn Let my story be a tale of caution to you as you navigate finding out what is causing your pain.
Avatar f tn Fibromyalgia is diagnosed after other things are ruled out and if you have pain in the proper tender points. You should see a doctor.
Avatar f tn Fibromyalgia is widespread pain throuout the entire body,it actually hurts to be touched.Maybe a possible pinched nerve or sciatica?
Avatar n tn well i guess what i really want to know is if fibromyalgia progressive, I am only 23 and already having a hard time what is life going to be like 10 years from now? At this rate i feel like i will be bed ridden or something. is there any information or advise anyone can give me??
Avatar m tn In my personal opinion, fibromyalgia is just a fancy name for rheumatism. Blood markers for inflammation of the muscles are usually normal, but in people who have autoimmune diseases such as lupus or scleroderma, these markers normally run low and so if you have a so-called normal level, you may in fact have muscle inflammation. Most doctors, even rheumatologists do not know this but there is research going on about this.
1023657 tn?1251844941 One of them is exercise. Fibromyalgia pain is muscle pain and the most important therapy for muscle pain is regular, gentle and low-impact exercise. It keeps muscles conditioned and healthy and decreases the amount of discomfort. It is very important to try low-stress exercises such as walking, swimming, water aerobics, and biking rather than straining exercises such as weight training. Heavy exercises worsen the symptoms.
Avatar f tn Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterized by widespread pain in your muscles, ligaments and tendons, as well as fatigue and multiple tender points — places on your body where slight pressure causes pain. Fibromyalgia is more common in women than in men. Previously, fibromyalgia was known by other names such as fibrositis, chronic muscle pain syndrome, psychogenic rheumatism and tension myalgias.
Avatar f tn Pain is subjective, so there is no definative answer to how bad it will or can get. Personally, mine fluctuates. I have many days that I feel great, but I'm in bed at least a few days a month. It's a massive improvement from when I first got sick. I spent a year bedridden with muscle aches and horrible chronic nerve pain. It got so bad for me, my skin became so hypersensitive that wearing clothes or hugging my son was excruciating. I became depressed, which made it worse.
Avatar m tn ve got one with enough Vit D, Magnesium and Potassium. Fibromyalgia causes muscle pain and sometimes it can be so intense it feels like a bruise at times. I know because that is how I've described it to my doctor. You may want to look into Mitochondrial Disease. That is something I've been doing a lot of research on these days. You can google it. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I will try to make this as short as possible. I am 33 years old and started having pain 7 years ago. They give me the diagnoses of Fibromyalgia 4 years ago. I have extreme pain all over that is getting alot worse. I am not so convinced fibro is what i have now. Just in the past 3 months here is what i have been experiencing: Pain over entire body!
773755 tn?1328119777 One reason many conventional doctors do not think fibromyalgia is a “real” condition is that no specific medication is effective for treating this illness. Some medications do help lower the symptoms of fibromyalgia. These include analgesics such as Tylenol and Motrin. Some doctors will prescribe antidepressant medications, although there are many adverse effects. Anti-seizure drugs are the conventional treatment for fibromyalgia. These include Neurontin and Lyrica.
