fibromyalgia

666921 tn?1254994218 Newly diagnosed with Lyme, but for the past two years plus I have complained of sternum/rib/chest wall pain. It is odd because sometimes exercise helps and other times exercise will worsen the pain. Sometimes I can breeze through a work out and others I can barely make it before my bones and muscles start to ache and the next few days to weeks are hell as the pain increases. Sometimes just repetitive motion like scrubbing a bathtub will bring on the pain.
Avatar f tn Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition that causes pain and stiffness throughout the tissues that support and move the bones and joints. Pain and localized tender points occur in the muscles, particularly those that support the neck, spine, shoulders and hips. The disorder includes widespread pain, fatigue and sleep disturbances.
Avatar f tn Unlike arthritis, the incapacitating pain is not in the joints but in the muscles and ligaments. Fibromyalgia is known for presentation of pain at specific sites known as tender points or tender spots. The pain is commonly located in the neck, shoulders, back, and hip and the tender points are located in the same regions. The tenderness is worse in the mornings and has been described as flu-.like, burning, throbbing, aching, or stabbing.
Avatar f tn By the sounds of things, this is not related to your fibromylagia and you should most likely follow up with your doctor to find out what is wrong. Especially if it is that severe that your pain meds are not helping.
Avatar f tn If this sounds familiar, you may have fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterized by widespread pain in your muscles, ligaments and tendons, as well as fatigue and multiple tender points — places on your body where slight pressure causes pain. Fibromyalgia is more common in women than in men. Previously, fibromyalgia was known by other names such as fibrositis, chronic muscle pain syndrome, psychogenic rheumatism and tension myalgias.
Avatar f tn Pain is subjective, so there is no definative answer to how bad it will or can get. Personally, mine fluctuates. I have many days that I feel great, but I'm in bed at least a few days a month. It's a massive improvement from when I first got sick. I spent a year bedridden with muscle aches and horrible chronic nerve pain. It got so bad for me, my skin became so hypersensitive that wearing clothes or hugging my son was excruciating. I became depressed, which made it worse.
Avatar n tn A satellite myofascial point is a highly irritable spot in a muscle that becomes inactive because the muscle is in the region of another trigger pain. The pain of fibromyalgia is generalized, occurring above and below the waist and on both sides of the body. On the other hand, myofascial pain is more often described as occurring in a more limited area of the body, for example, only around the shoulder and neck, and on only one side of the body. Take care and regards !
Avatar n tn Although there is no cure for fibromyalgia, home treatment can relieve some of the symptoms. Fibromyalgia pain is muscle pain and the most important therapy for muscle pain is regular, gentle and low-impact exercise. It keeps muscles conditioned and healthy and decreases the amount of discomfort. It is very important to try low-stress exercises such as walking, swimming, water aerobics, and biking rather than straining exercises such as weight training. Heavy exercises worsen the symptoms.
Avatar f tn I luckily have an appt with my primary doctor next week and I am going to discuss the possibility of having this with her. I do not know what else I can do to figure out what is wrong with me. Being in pain for so long sets you into a deep depression, a 22 year old should not feel this miserable.
358486 tn?1294779988 A good website I read was fibromyalgia-symptoms dot either com or org, I forget. Dr.Abhijeet, what exactly is the cause after surgery? It's unrelenting and literally can ruin your life. There has to be an underlying cause???
1033336 tn?1252509731 The characteristic feature of Fibromyalgia is a muscle pain mostly in neck, back, thighs, and hips. There is presence of specific tender points in these areas that trigger the pain. Along with this there is morning stiffness in the muscles, brain fog, dizziness and other neurological symptoms. Since you are suffering from pain specifically located at the joints, and it started after the flu, the pains are related to the viral infection.

Avatar n tn One of the most common hormone deficiencies that can cause or exacerbate fibromyalgia is growth hormone.Growth hormone is secreted from the pituitary gland. Like all hormones, growth hormone levels peak at a young age and decline as we get older. Growth hormone is one of the master hormones of the body. It can control the release and balance of the other endocrine glands Growth hormone can be given only by injection. It is a bioidentical hormone.
Avatar f tn Getting your voice and being prepared to talk to the doctors in a way that helps them understand what you are feeling and what you think you might need is the best way to approach this. For me my pain is managed with pain medication but I still experience pain. I take Topramax for headaches, that has really helped. I take enzymes and drink water all day and watch the foods that I eat to avoid bloating and digestion problems. I also take Pepogest for constipation.
1168938 tn?1327157832 I have many issues and asked rheumatologist if I could have fibromyalgia, she said I don't fit criteria what do you think? Avatar f tn I have recently been showing symptoms of Fibromyalgia and was wondering what helps the Fatigue and flu-like feeling that goes with fibromyalgia?

Avatar f tn These are classic Fibro symptoms, although the joint pain could be caused by arthritis also. I find that most of my pain from the Fibro is in the soft tissue, muscles, tendons, ligaments, along w the debilitating fatique, brain fog and many other not so pleasant symptoms. Your in the right place here for people who will understand what you are going through.
Avatar m tn Are you seeing a Rheumatologist for your Fibromyalgia? I am seeing a Rheumatologist for my severe Fibromyalgia. It is always best to check with your Doctor. Keep me posted....Thanks!
3202069 tn?1345408082 Part of the problme with the fibromyalgia is I get headaches because of the tension in the muscles in my neck. I was hospitalized a few months ago with chest pains and they said it was because the muscles around my heart were tightening up from my fibromyalgia causing me to feel like I was having a heart attack. I have tried Lexapro, Cymbalta, Sevella, and numerous drugs but to no avail. Diet is the most important. Yeast breads, pizza, sodas and staying away from sugars and alot of carbs.
Avatar f tn I would read the book ' The complete Idiot's guide to Fibromyalgia.' This book explains fibromyalgia and what I can only assume is a vast majority, if not all, of conflicting conditions and symptoms of other diseases. It has three pages listed of sypmtoms that you can check off if you have them, and then you can bring them to your doctor. You can also further read about conflicting conditions. Overall, the book is very helpful!
587071 tn?1218545987 Every thing came out okay but I still have the lumps. My family doctor thinks fibromyalgia is all in my head and its not a real disease. How ever the rumatodaligist thought the other way.Since I had know swelling of my joints they ruled out arthrities. Even though I dont think I have fibromyalgia it could be that I do.I just have a feeling that there is more going on with me.Some days I'm so scared because my body hurts so bad and I cant do any thing for it.
358486 tn?1294779988 It's a fibro drug. Fibromyalgia usually is debilitating fatigue and pain either in muscles and/or joints. I think it can also be pain in tissues, though not sure if that is official. It also can have other symptoms. Problem with fibro, is that a lot of the symptoms overlap with other autoimmune diseases so doctors have to be sure to rule out other diseases before diagnosis fibromyalgia. My aunt thought for years she had fibromyalgia.
1550149 tn?1340004330 In primary fibromyalgia (also called idiopathic fibromyalgia) the causes are not known, and in secondary fibromyalgia the causes can be identified. Primary fibromyalgia is the more common form. Many experts believe that fibromyalgia is not a disease but rather a chronic pain condition brought on by a constellation of dysfunctional biologic responses to stress. Such individuals are thought to be more susceptible to stress because of traumatic personal histories, genetic factors, or both.
Avatar f tn Hi Marcy, I am sorry to hear about your pain. I am not an expert but "burning" pain is usually nerve related. Therefore it makes me wonder if you don't have some type of neuropathy. As I searched for some answers to your type of pain I found that inflammatory disorders, B12 deficiency, thyroid dysfunction, and rheumatologic conditions (such as connective tissue disorders and fibromyalgia) can cause your type of symptoms. I also had similar symptoms with a Vit D deficiency.
Avatar f tn For a very long time now I've had pain that feels deep in the muscles of my upper back and shoulders. I've always kinda thought that either something is out or I'm just tense. The past few months the pain is worse and has spread to other parts of my body.
Avatar m tn Since last Thursday it has been there constantly in my entire right arm. The pain keeps getting worse. All this pain has been right down the middle. The muscles don't hurt. The pain is now in my left shoulder and left arm now. No x rays, CT, or MRIs have been taken. My pcp thinks it may be fibromyalgia. I think it may be something else. My thyroid and vitamin D are fine. I've been tested for all autoimmune diseases and don't have any of those.
Avatar n tn I also have trouble with my right shoulder but I also have pain in other areas? Do your muscles ever hurt anywhere else? Ever feel like your getting the flu? Stay tired? I went to a specialist to find out if I had it. Mabe your Doctor should send you to one for evaluation.
