cytomel

299155 tn?1235489269 hello everyone. what exactly is cytomel? my background: on synthroid 125 with a tsh of 0.82. hair loss since first diagnosis in April of 07. I still don't feel like I am where I should be. NO WEIGHT LOSS whatsoever etc. Would cytomel help me feel better? Also, what is the thyroid Pub? Can I join? Thanks.
705042 tn?1228721787 One part Cytomel and two parts Levothyroxine is not a good balance. The Cytomel is metabolized very quickly and is gone in a few hours. So you are getting overmedicated half the day, and undermedicated half the day. You're going up and down like a yoyo every day, and the chances are pretty good your bloodwork will show you are hyper.
Avatar f tn I know Cytomel is supplement for T3 and stronger. If anyone has experiences with Cytomel, your input is greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I am also not as quick as I used to be to blame the first thing. I usually try a new med more then one time to be sure that it is the problem. That all said, and so I don't scare anyone out of taking something they may need. The reaction I had was some disorientation and feeling slugish. Nothing terrible.
Avatar f tn t explain FT3 adequately. FT3 is the T3 that is available to your cells. It is not bound by protein, and therefore inactive. It is the most important indicator of your thyroid status. Finding the FT3 at which YOU are confortable is the key to feeling well.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have many symptoms of hypothyroid but my thyroid levels are normal, so my physician prescribed low-dose (5mg) Cytomel in the hopes of alleviating my symptoms. Has anyone taken Cytomel (not the sustained-release form, just the regular instant-release form) for Wilson's Syndrome? If so, could you please share your story? Did Cytomel work? Did you try the sustained-released form of T3?
Avatar n tn Do you know why your doctor put you on Cytomel only? T3-only meds are seldom used on a permanent basis, but sometimes used to treat metabolic disturbances on a temporary basis. How do you take your Cytomel? That is a huge dose of Cytomel, BTW. Since T3 is roughly fout times more potent than T4, 100 mcg T3 is equivalent to about 400 mcg of T4. We need to balance both T3 and T4 to feel well. I'd like to see labs, but I'm betting you're overmedicated on T3 and starving for T4.
822804 tn?1298226302 What is the T3 range?
Avatar f tn Your doctor should be ordering FT3 every time labs are drawn. This is the only way to monitor your Cytomel dosage. Your FT4 is still on the low side. It's at 27% of range, and the guideline for FT4 is about 50%. We don't know what your FT3 is doing. Your TSH is low, but that's because it's suppressed because of the Cytomel you're taking. Your TSH is no longer reliable, and it can't be used to dose meds.
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
Avatar f tn ve had many many operations both major and minor and the scar itself is usually numb (which is not noticeable if the scar is very thin) and often the area around the scar is numb after surgery and then you gain feeling back over time as the nerves and tissues heal. I'm not sure with thyroid surgery but that has been the case for all of my surgeries.
Avatar n tn t know what to think, why is the tsh higher? I used to feel good when it was about 1.0 or under. I was in so much pain 2 days ago, that even though I was taking compounded armour (120 mg) I took 5 mcg cytomel twice yesterday. My pain let up significantly! Why is that though, since my FT3 was already a bit higher? If I don't take that cytomel, I'm hurting so bad I can't sleep. My doctor isn't too helpul, however....
Avatar m tn If you are given ample amount of T4, then you will naturally convert some of this to T3. Just giving you a high dosage of T3 is not allowing your body to do what it is suppose to do....Unless you have a conversion issue. Even then, you need to maintain a proper ratio of T4 to T3. You should have had your T4 increased, not your T3 this time. T3 meds will supress your TSH, so you need to be treated by your Free T4 and Free T3 results.
Avatar f tn What is food and supplements are safe to consume with Cytomel. I am actively trying to lose weight through diet and exercise and feel like I am fighting with a brick wall. Very defeating! I eat certain things or take different supplements, I get extreme reactions. Please advise. . .
Avatar f tn They said it was unusual for both tsh and free T4 to be low but I thought that was common on Cytomel? My doc is not used to treating with Cytomel (It was prescribed by my other doc).
