3159640 tn?1430907300 Not having 100% certainty about what happened and what I saw. The place is 2 hours away so of course I am not returning to check yet again. So, the big thing I always struggle with when this happens is accepting the uncertainty, and fighting the urge to see PEP treatment for every single poke and stab I get out there in the world, which happens alot. I just want to learn how to get past this.
Avatar f tn I have the same fear..so you are not alone. If I know it's going to snow, I start worrying days before as I have to drive to work - about 25 miles from my home. Once at work, I worry the whole time about driving home. I haven't been in some awful snow-related accident so I don't know where this is coming from. I usually am fine if someone else will drive but if I know I have to drive - I freak out.
1074864 tn?1256932915 Hello and welcome to the forum! "I feel like I'm experiencing the onset of agoraphobia - I push myself to do things, even if I don't want to, so hopefully that works. " BINGO! What you are experiencing is a totally typical progression of occurences after the onset of panic attacks. Basically, what you are going through is a "fear of fear".
Avatar n tn The best advice I can give you is to talk to someone and try to face the fear. Get back in your car and go for a drive even if it is only around the block. Each time you do it it will get easier. You have to take your control back. I should really learn to take my own advice. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you feel better.....
Avatar m tn s called Goodbye Anxiety Goodbye Fear by Roberta Shapiro. There is a section for driving. The reviews seem very good.
Avatar f tn recently i got my thyroid test in that T3,T4 is normal but tsh is abnormal(12) is it hypothyroidism or hyper thyroidism what we can call?? what next step for me??
Avatar m tn Just following cj to agree that it sounds like you both have anxiety. The fears you have about driving are incredibly classic symptoms of anxiety, especially if you've had a previous anxiety attack while driving. Very much like the fear of flying, with one really huge exception. While driving, you CAN pull over and get out of your car. Can't do that when you're 35,000 feet in the air! But this fear of driving can lead to avoidance behavior and that's not such a good thing.
8377023 tn?1399509160 My biggest fear out of everything is my water breaking while driving their car. I am absolutely terrified that this is going to happen. I have already gotten contractions while driving with one of the twins, thankfully the contractions weren't crazy bad, and this happened today. I dont know what to do besides calling their aunt, Chris, my mom and my doctor. Like what should I tell their aunt if that happens? To just meet me at the hospital or what?
Avatar f tn Hiya well, personally i would say if you have such a fear at the moment of HIV/STD's etc.. then you really need to sit and think about what actions while performing love making really trigger the anxiety.
1785438 tn?1314987935 re developing Agoraphobia which will hold you prisoner in your home (safe place). Driving is a big trigger for many with panic attacks it goes along with Agoraphobia, fear of open places and fear you'll have a panic attack, the feeling of being "trapped" wherever you are. None of us want to be on medication but often anxiety is like any other medical condition that requires daily medication to control the symptoms.
Avatar f tn There is no way you are going to get pregnant using a restroom. How old are you and how long has this fear of pregnancy been going on? Do you see a psychologist?
Avatar n tn You've already beaten it! Nice work. I think you need to take a step back and acknowledge that... The road is just the trigger, the enemy is the panic attack itself, so if you went out on the road and came all the way back and didn't experience a panic attack the whole time, then you won... You beat the panic attack before it even got to you. That's what this whole thing is all about.
Avatar m tn t have an accident, i feel confidence in my driving skills. maybe for someone who has no fear of diseases, its the same way. maybe they get a wave of fear, and then get over it. maybe we should try to rationalize our fears & doubts, instead of trying to run away from situations that cause anxiety, try to face them and deal with them. and trust in god in every situation.
1804812 tn?1329677557 s ok, to an extent, to find alternate routes when we may be facing a driving task that is just off the charts. What I did for myself is started setting up little goals and working my way up. The initial tasks were SMALL...down the road and back. I had to work my way up to longer bigger drives, on highways. I'm still not perfect in that dept, and there is still one route I avoid like the plague....where I had a massive PA with my kids in the car years ago.
1354772 tn?1300977548 unless the person that is driving is a close friend of mine or family member then i ll be fine. but when my gf is driving i sumtimes find myself being super anxious especially when we are on the freeway ugh its worse. i get pretty much get every symptom in the book until we finally get to where we are going then i return to normal.
Avatar m tn i was driving confidently for the last 8 years. suddenly start to fear driving especially curves...now i could not take the vehicle in the middle of the road..i try to avoid and automatically i drive on left side of the road instead of straight...so i loose balance..i am sittiting also slightly towards left...this problem is giving me sleepless night...please advise me..........
Avatar m tn s what can happen. There is no magic cure. It kind of passes with time. Bit like you grow out of it. As if you move along onto something else. It can be frightening. Just hang on in there with it. It will pass over time. To the point were it will stop for good.
Avatar n tn s absolutely important to be aware that a situation is more requiring of precision driving, anxiety about it is a problem that needs attention to maximize enjoyment of life. Avoidance doesn't work, although when the treatments don't work it's all we have. For this person, they just need to get back to understanding gravity; it doesn't change on a curve. You're still on the ground. It can go away. For most it does if they work on it. Peace.
Avatar m tn So I contact with my friend for a check, he told me I had never called him in the morning or last night. Well, calling my friend is only a dream. But what about having sex with an unknown woman? Was it a dream or reality? I double checked my cloth, the door in my house, and my key of car. Everything is still where I put them before I went to bed last night, nothing abnormal.
Avatar m tn Sounds very much like you could be suffering from a touch of HOCD, which is actually a REAL form of OCD, where a person fears being homosexual. There are many different extremes of HOCD, from occasional fleeting thoughts, to complete, debilitating obsessions. I would strongly recommend you post in our OCD forum. Not because I think you HAVE OCD but because they get questions about this EXACT same thing all the time.
Avatar m tn Health anxiety can really be a pain in the you know what. If you have been cleared medically, then chances are OVERWHELMINGLY stacked in your favor that you are okay. But all too often that 'what if' thinking pops into our heads. Of course there is always a what if, but we also take a risk by walking down the street, driving our cars, etc. Have you ever thought of talking to a therapist about this?
Avatar n tn A. The bat died of rabies, I have no idea what are the main killers of bats. B. Was the fly that flew into my eye was one of the flies that were around the dead bat? Do insects get sucked into the car area (undercarriage) when a car drives past? Am I just being paranoid or is there any reason to worry?
324396 tn?1297350712 Maybe the real question is....what symptoms does one exhibit if diagnosed with agoraphobia? As DJ as said the term is from the Greek, I believe, meaning 'fear of the marketplace'. I am diagnosed with it....and that is one aspect of disorder. Took time for me to get comfortable shopping for groceries. Generally other words are used these days by psychiatrists....but severe untreated agoraphobia has the power to keep one imprisoned in his/her home. The onset can be gradual..
12680650 tn?1427307118 m not sure if it is the same as what RonL is describing, I know that sense of falling, that usually happens with a leg jerk or something like that. What I experience is a little different, it is as if you are almost semiconscious and right on the cusp of falling asleep but then feel yourself drifting into unconsciousness, but then a surge of adrenaline will radiate through our body. It seems as if there is no jerk involved... or at least my husband never seemed to notice.
701334 tn?1262853503 Based on your description of the beat, you are most likely experiencing a PAC (premature atrial contraction) or PVC (premature ventricular contraction) Without catching it on a monitor I can only suspect that this is what you're feeling. EKG's are not the best tool for catching these...often times our hearts are on their best behavior during them. The best way to catch them is by having an event monitor. As for your increased HR after eating...
Avatar m tn This is an old thread but what you are describing is called reactive hypoglycemia. It is a drop in blood sugar that brings on the fight or flight response.....rapid heart rate, feelings of doom and distress etc. It is not a panic attack. It is the body releasing adrenaline to raise your blood sugar. It can come on after high intensity exercise and is often the result of overtraining syndrome. If it ever happens again drink 6oz of orange juice followed by some peanut butter crackers.
