Common Questions and Answers about What dosage of adderall for weight loss

adderall

Avatar f tn What are the long term effects of this type of weight loss and is it That bad for you to be on for a short while? Is using Adderall for weight-loss worse? So many "get thin" fast gimics out there and I just want to know the harmful aspects of using these types of products. Thank you!
Avatar m tn At this point I have found that eating more and getting at least two or three really good nights of sleep will restore the effect of adderall on normal dosage. Of course to get the good sleep you have to lower your dose of adderall for a day and don't take any after about 11:00 am in the morning they day you decide to get a good night of sleep. It also has to be natural sleep, no sleeping pills. I don't know why but 9 hours of sleep with sleeping pills does not do any good.
1367899 tn?1278121440 My sister and I started a blog on Adderall to learn more about the medication along with alternative and complementary ADHD treatment options. Any feedback from users of Adderall or Adderall XR would be greatly appreciated. Topics to be added this week on http://Adderall.org How is Adderall XR different from Adderall? [Adderall vs. Adderall XR] What is Adderall? How to Make Adderall: [Adderall Background Information] What are the best Adderall and ADHD books?
Avatar f tn I am guessing that you see two different doctors. One for weight loss and one for your ADHD/anxiety. I say this because Basically phentermine is a stimulant (works like adderall), but works differently then adderall. I am not sure you should be taking it with adderall. "Phentermine use is containdicated in those who are: Taking amphetamine (i.e. Adderall, Dexedrine, Vyvanse), in the last 14 days" This quote is from - http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar f tn My doctor also prescribed Phenteramine 37.5 mg for weight loss. I take both together in the morning. I do go to him every month and have a check up so he can check my blood pressure...it is always low anyways. But he does keep a close eye on me. Also, if I have something stressfull happen in my life, I drop the phenterimine for a couple of days to prevent an anxidy attack. Phenteramine does make you anxious,,, more so than the adderall or Concerta.
Avatar n tn t found the right dosage). The other side effect that is most troubling is the loss of appetite. When we went to see his specialist, 6 days ago, he'd lost 4.5 lbs (in 40 days). When I weighed him tonight on my own scale, he's down another 6lbs. I know there is a difference between the scale at the hospital and my scale, but it isn't likely 6 lbs. The sleeping issue we are working on and are quite hopeful. The weight loss is quite frightening.
Avatar m tn I am 56 and was diagnosed with ADHD at age 42 . I take Adderall 45 mg per day and decided to take !self off it . I don't believe it has The same affect on me as when I first began taking the meds .I too lost interest in sex and my Dr. who is an excellent Dr. , is managing a treatment center for addicts and doesn't have the time for me anymore . I don't like the effects of Adderall anymore and my last appointment my Dr. told me not to go off it .
Avatar n tn I've been taking regular adderall (non xr) for 10t years for ADHD. The medicine does help with the ADHD but I'm concerned with the long term effects. I know Adderall can cause weight loss /decrease appetite as a side effect. With the exception of the past couple of years I was able to keep my wieight down partly due to the drug. However the past 2 years or so I seem to be gaining wieight.
Avatar f tn Concerta is the same drug as Ritalin, I believe, and could well be the cause of your wakefulness and loss of appetite. I take Adderall, a similar drug, to cope with fatigue, and it does dampen my hunger, for sure. It's a good consequence for me, if unintended. I take 20mg of the extended release type each morning, and can feel it wearing off by mid-afternoon. It doesn't affect my sleep. It's possible your dosage is too high, so a consultation with your doctor is order.
1182411 tn?1265321044 My name is David and I was browsing the net for suggestions about adderall tolerance, I am on 90 mg xr of Adderall , and it stopped working . No single psychiatrist as of now has been willing to increase it. It just kinda gives me hope to know that there are others who need more than the 'usual' dose, thanks for your time. I just needed to say this.
Avatar f tn My daughter is very competetive in track and just stared taking adderall for her ADD. Will the adderall slow her running down? She is very concerned.
Avatar n tn It does not seem possible that it is a misdiagnosis three times...but it is questionable to me why none of the medications work for her and none of the medications cause a loss of appetite, she actually seems to always to be hungry. I do not know where else to go...two psyhiatrists, one psychologist, and out family doctor... Now we have to make a change of some kind she has elevated liver enzyme and increased heart rate so family doctor wants to take her off her adderall. Any thoughts???
1340745 tn?1276393303 Should I really be taking more thyroid medication purely for the purpose of weight loss? If I end up taking too much to treat my thyroid, what side effects should I expect? I will be seeing the doctor again in a month, so we can obviously discontinue this quickly if something bad happens, but I don't even know if a month will be long enough for him to see results. Can anyone give me some advice? Thank you!!
Avatar n tn The dose of topamax and length of time you take it as well as how your individual body reacts to it will have an effect on the side effect of weight loss. I take 200 mg a day as a mood stabilizer for bipolar disorder. This is an unusual use, but one that has shown great promise, and a VERY high dose, but the typical mood stabilizers do not work for me. (I have a mild underlying seizure disorder) I am under constant supervision of a doctor who specializes in bipolar disorder.
Avatar f tn Ouch, I feel for you and also for the lack of treatment that your husband has gotten. It is pretty common to have both ADHD and bipolar. The problem is that if not treated correctly, the person will start to self medicate and that sounds like what is going on. His Adderall might not be enough for him , or is too much (weight loss is common but can be compensated for). It appears he is taking nothing for the bipolar, but self medication.
Avatar m tn I DO NOT recommend messing with your dosage but I would definately make sure my dosage is right in oder to get on the right track for weight loss.
Avatar f tn I had the same syptoms as your daughter, along with rapid heart rate, weight loss, and loss of interest in things that I enjoyed prior to starting Adderall. It made my son a zombie, his personality was different, he didn't laugh anymore. It is a highly addictive drug and the only reason this ADHD medication explosion has happened is because schools are pushing parents to drug their children so that the teacher doesn't have to deal with them.
Avatar n tn Think too about changing the TYPE of carbs that you eat--try to avoid the "empty" carbs, or those with a particularly high glycemic index, like white bread, potatoes, regular pastas, white rice, etc. Try to include plenty of whole grains such as 100% whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, rolled oats, etc. Do a search for "glycemic index" and you'll get an idea of what to include in your diet, and what to avoid. And start walking!
Avatar f tn I have a hunch the nausea is from a combination of eating less due to appetite suppression and a dosage of adderall that is too high, since I let my tolerance build back up? My bowel changes started when I started the new 20 mg XR. My main curiosity is if it affects my digestion like that, is it giving my body time to absorb nutrients from food and supplements. I guess can take my supplements 1 hr before Adderall or at QHS, which is one solution.
407790 tn?1397761026 I was on a low dose of Abilify for about three months and while it did help a little with depression (was also taking Cymbalta) I had a lot of weight gain. I was constantly hungry and the medication didn't help matters by slowing my metabolism.
Avatar n tn The dose might be too high. I've had similar things happen when I was on too high a dosage of Adderall. If I'm not mistaken, Vyvanse is a longer-duration version of dextroamphetamine - not too far from adderall, which is a mixture of amphetamine salts (mostly dextroamphetamine). Mention it to your pdoc - chances are it's from the dosage and it needs to be changed a bit. When mine was a bit too high, I noticed weird things like that, such as my tongue would continually rub my teeth.
Avatar n tn Patients with previous mental conditions should be carefully monitored for signs of Adderall psychosis. This Adderall risk can be significant given that a large percentage of people suffering from ADHD also suffer from co-morbid psychological disorders. # CARDIOVASCULAR INJURY Evidence shows that Adderall may increase the risk of serious cardiovascular events including heart attack, stroke, high blood pressure, and other serious conditions.
Avatar m tn Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Please...I'm a 31yo male. In January I began having episodes. Blank stare into space like I'm "checking out". My face goes blank. They last a minute or so and then I'm generally ok. However, soon after I always experience facial numbness/tingling as well as numbness & tingling in my left extremeties. In September I had an "episode" in which I casued a car accident. I really need to figure this out.
Avatar n tn And typically a lower blood pressure is a side effect. Weight loss is, of course, common. I would think that perhaps something else is causing the anxiety? But, I would be more concerned about the change in blood pressure. With your weight loss, it should be going the other way. Something else is going on and I would talk to a doctor about it.
