Avatar n tn The test strips that I use are 10LG Parameter Urine Reagent Strips which can be bought on line at a reasonable price. These strips detect Leukocytes, Nitrite, Urobilinogen, Protein, pH, Blood, Specific Gravity, Ketone, Bilirubin, Glucose. You can get strips that detect less. The one that would be of interest if someone is suffering from dehydration is the Specific Gravity reading.
Avatar n tn Hello, My 13 yr old daughter just got her results back from taking the microalbumin and it came back positive her number was 45 normal range is under 30 they want her to retake it again to make sure its still showing positive what does that mean for her, they told me not to worry so much it might be because her sugar has been so high in the 300"s and they just took her off the pump and she is back to getting shots for now. Concerned mom and dad.
Avatar n tn Im in the UK and it seems the first step is the urine test according to my NHS walk in centre but you can ask for the blood test straight away if your really worried....but I think that depends on any symptoms. Ive heard different opinions on the urine test though, I have been told that its no good by one or two people but then afew others have said its fine for an intial check. Ive had a urine test and it was ok so Im just curious, as it was clear is that it? am I clear for diabetes? thanks.
Avatar f tn I have been scared of ngu or some other form of infection. I have used multiply uti test strips which test white blood cell count in urine. None have been positive, one or two showed trace amount of wbc (I've taken about 18 tests). Would these show an infection (ngu) if one existed???
Avatar n tn Thanks so much for this information. My husband was using a different kind of strip for his urine however he has not been storing correctly. I will get some new ones. Thanks for all you do on here. You are an amazing person. I don't know how you are able to be here every single day . I admire your dedication. You are a marvel, I really appreciate you so much!!

Avatar n tn A woman posted this: ... Approx 23 years ago, I repeatedly tested positive for blood in urine, so I had kidney x-rays, cystoscopy and various microhematuria tests. Everything proved negative, ... bought the urine chemstrips and noted that blood only showed after I drank coffee.... I again bought urine strips that detect blood only, and the strips shows non-hemolyzed trace only after drinking beer or coffee.
741741 tn?1294284010 They were could one step pregnancy test(10miu) i used them the same day as first response. Internet ones gave me what looked like an evap line where first response gave me a nice dark second line, they were done at 11 dpo. Dont think i'll use them again they keep you guessing.
Avatar n tn They sell amniotic test strips in pharmacies. At least they do here in Oregon. I would get checked at the hospital, then pick up a pack just in case. My hospital is an hour away, so the test strips help a ton. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn What i know is if you are worried about an sti, you need to go for urine tests. Wbc doesnt tell u what sti u have. Thats why there are specific sti test for the uti.
Avatar f tn Where can I get a bunch of test strips for ovulating for cheep. I am trying and trying to conceive but I haven't had any sucess at it. So I have been very down for a long time. I don't know if I will ever conceive at times I give up and at others I just keep pressing in and it gets hard daily.
Avatar f tn The only advice I can give is to request a confirmation screen where the urine is sent off for analysis instead of the standard test strips. Also, you can request a blood test and offer to pay for it yourself if necessary. Drug testing is not an exact science.
Avatar n tn here there are three rapid strips determine, stat pak and unigold rapid test strips so the determine test strip for 2 years has been reacting the rest of the strips which are taken to be confirmatory test strips never react. If you read the original post you will get the whole history. So someone told me its highly sensitive to any viral infection but then again I asked whats that infection. No answer was given. My CBC results are all in range showing no presence of a virus.
Avatar f tn m just wondering what is being tested for? I know they test for proteins in the urine, but are they also testing for UTI's and bacteria and things of that nature? I read what someone on this board wrote, and they said that after her OB visit, she was given meds for a UTI. Is that something the urine test will test for?
Avatar m tn s licence renewal medical test. They take a urine sample , dip a test strip in it and for the last 3 exams have told me I have blood in my urine. Two times I went to my doctor and he sent me to a lab and both times the results were negative. My doctor does physical & PSA test for prostate every 2 years and so far every thing is normal. The 3rd time the clinic said I have blood my doctor said he will ignore it.
178590 tn?1294176767 Having trace of either should be fine. At least when I go for my appts and the dip test shows a slight trace of one or the other, I tell the nurse the results and they have never showed a concern with a trace result. Good for you to do the testing if you ob/gyn is not. Are there other good ob/gyn doctors in your area that you can switch too? If your current doctor is not doing all the regular monitoring that he/she should be, maybe it's time to switch?
Avatar n tn Hi JR, Thanks again for posting. To boil down the issue, Genentech tells doctors to measure protein using dipstick urine analysis (Which blood will cause a "false positive" of sorts, its a simple test using strips like you would to test the pH of a pool). Her oncologist does not see any point in exploring alternative testing because that is what Genentech says to do.
Avatar n tn well does it test for the most common antigens then? I read that the western blot can show up indeterminate for some non-infected individuals so is the ELISA more specific than the western blot or what, coz they do the elisa first I think and only a western blot to confirm if the elisa reacts. Also how many copies of the virus can they detect?
Avatar n tn I frequently use urine test strips to test my urine when I feel unwell that may be waterwork problem. Have had kidney stone surgically removed in the past. Nitrite on the stick will mean that it is a bladder problem - usually Cystitis. Positive leucocyte reading on the stick with or without signs of protein, usually means that there is a bacterial infection. If the doctor said you have a uti (urinary tract infection) this is anywhere from the kidneys down.
Avatar f tn Hi! I have used Clinical Guard ovulation strips, and they work. But I just discovered some called BFP, they make ovulation & pregnancy test strips, and they are super accurate and easy to read. They're my new "go-to" brand. I buy off of Amazon. Good luck! & lots of baby dust!
Avatar n tn I called the doc and he said not to be concerned unless she also had glucose in her urine. He does want to see her Monday for testing. But I am also trying to research this to give myself a little peace of mind until then. BTW, I have test strips here at home that my doc gave me to test for infection. I was testing myself and my girls (2.5 year old twins) thought it would be fun to test too. LOL!
Avatar f tn There are test strips for it?? Oh wow...I had noo idea! Thanks for all the comments ladies! I definitely feel a lot better!
Avatar f tn I went to two doctors. Had gonnohrea and clamydia test 7 days post which were negative. I went to plan parenthood today hoping to get swab test done. They said they didn't do that test. They took urine for second gonnohrea and clamydia test. I just don't know what to do now. My urethra feels like there is urine in it after I pee and there is some sensitivity but I can't get confirmation on whether I have a nsu. Really could use some opinions on this.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am a step mom to an 8 year old diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago. Her health insurance, which she's had since before being diagnosed, has a deductible that leaves us paying an outrageous amount for test strips. Her initial endocrinologist (who she hasn't seen in 6 months) recommended the One Touch Ultra glucometer. What options are there for an affordable method of testing? Should we see a different endocrinologist? How can we make this affordable? Thank you so much for your help!
127529 tn?1331840780 For the first month I started using the test strips I started a week after my period ended and tested every day until I got the possitive, then a day or so after until it was negative again. That let me know what CD I would get the positive on, and would ovulate soon. Then for the next month I started a few days before that CD and only had to test for about a week. Typically I dont ovulate the exact same CD each month so giving myself a few days to a week of testing makes sure I catch it.
6036387 tn?1395008183 Does any lady's know of a way to test at home for leaking fluid like strips or something
Avatar f tn I'm 25 weeks pregnant. At around 19 weeks, after having urethral pain for 2 weeks, I went to the ER as i was certain I did have a UTI, even though my doctor dismissed my symptoms and told me the leukocytes and bacteria found were from contamination. I was in considerably more pain that same night so headed to the ER where they confirmed I had a UTI and put me on cephalexin. I took it for 4 days until I started having diarrhea.
