Avatar f tn Do people really take these to get high??? What kind of an affect could possibly come from this???
222267 tn?1253302210 I just started OXCARBAZEPINE. I am really sick. I am on 600mg at night. I woke up this morning with a headache and I have felt like I have the flu all day. I cannot eat or drink anything. I'm exausted. Does anyone have experience with this med? How long will these symptoms last? I have to somehow work tomorrow. I am getting so tired of being sick and tired. I'm not depressed. I'm just coming back from hell. I had major surgery. It made me have a severe manic episode.
Avatar f tn I’m on levetiracetam aka keppra and clobazam aka onfi. When I was on oxcarbazepine (trileptal) and levetiracetam (keppra) I started having these weird headaches where I would lose my vision, hearing, smell, and coordination, but I could still speak and feel. The doctors are pretty much stumped. Has anyone ever had a situation like this?
Avatar f tn I started on January but I only spotted a little bit of blood and that was it. But February - April til now I have not started at all. I do get symptoms like if I am going to start my period but nothing comes down & now my breast are sore. And I am currently on several pills , do you guys think by any chance you could be the medication that I'm taking that could be messing with my menstrual cycle or I might be pregnant? Please help , I need some advice. **** NO RUDE COMMENTS!!
Avatar m tn You should not play around with your medications yourself. I do not know of any pill that combines both of those drugs in one tablet. You can ask your doctor, but I really doubt it exists. If you're better now on the pills, it means they're working. It's a trap many people fall into--"I'm feeling better, so I don't need the meds anymore". It ***** to have to take multiple pills a day, but if that's what keeps you healthy, that's what you need to do.
Avatar n tn I am not sure what the comp levels are but I am aware of what the CBC and oxcarbazepine are for. If it were lukemia wouldn't the WBC be high? I have joint problems my self and have been tested for lupus and RA, they were negative. So I don't think it would be that. Due to the fact it is mainly genetic. I did notice that when the lab drew his blood, it took about 20 minutes for the puncture to stop bleeding. Is that abnormal? When I took him to his dr.
Avatar m tn Within the last two months, I have been experiencing burning and pain in my right foot (including toes). I am taking oxcarbazepine, is this a side affect or does it mean I need to increase the dose.
Avatar f tn has been trying differnt Bi-polar meds on me and after many trial and errors he has put me on oxcarbazepine, after all the bad affects I have been through mixing other meds with the suboxone I am scared to go trough it all agin does anyone know if these two meds mix ok? Avatar m tn Have been taking Carbamezapine and lately Gabapentine, which both cause Erectile Disfunction. Have read that Oxcarbazepine does not have this side effect. Have not convinced my neurologist to let me switch meds. What success have people had using Oxcarbazepine for TN, and does it also cause ED? I don't want to use either carbamezapine or gabapentine if possible.
Avatar m tn What are your experiences with the following drugs? I want to start with the drug that I have the best chance of maintaining my intellect, fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and personalty.
Avatar m tn Lithium can be toxic and most studies point to ororate being more toxic than Lithium Carbonate - Studies have shown that the kidneys do not clear if from your system as efficiently as Lithium Carbonate. Lithium Orotate is very rarely prescibed by doctors but it is prescribed by Alternative Practioners who of course cannot prescribe normal drugs within the RX system - there have been a number of medical trials which have proven no efficiency over treatment with Lithium Carbonate.
Avatar f tn My doctor switched me to oxcarbazepine and that stopped the issue. The one extra oxygen molecule somehow helped the situation. Ask your doctor to make the adjustment and see if that helps.
Avatar f tn During those times I had not yet been diagnosed and was able to go back to life like normal, however after the diagnosis and being on phenytoin and switching to oxcarbazepine i am feeling awful. Dizzy, nauseated, moody, extremely tired, severe headaches that come and go. All i get from my Neurologist is these are side effects that will eventually go away. Because i never know when these symptoms will come on too strong I have missed a lot of days at work during my probation period.
Avatar f tn A good idea is to keep a pain journal -- where does the pain happen, how long does it last, when does it happen, does anything seem to trigger it (i.e. - brushing your teeth, eating, putting on makeup, washing your face), what does the pain feel like (electric shocks, jabs, burning, etc). This will help your doctor diagnose the problem.
Avatar n tn There are lots of other options to try. You should ask your neuro what is available to you. Have you tried others? Carbomazapine is Tegretol, the 'go-to' drug for TN and is often used by some doctors as a diagnostic tool at the start. But it's not for everyone. I am one of those. I am allergic to it. (my rash is seen in my photos if you need it). For me, the side effects are worse than TN itself for me, but others have said it's life changing.
Avatar n tn My question is with him taking these two type of medications he is still having seizure and cant sleep. Me as a mother do know what to think and do to help him. Can someone help me with this. My son loves to go out and dance and maybe has a couple of beers is the beer causing the seizures or is the body heat causing the seizure? What should I do when he falls on the floor and jurks? He comes out of the seizure within 5 mins.
Avatar m tn What meds do your doctor(s) have you on to relieve the symptoms? Are any of them helping?
Avatar f tn Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) does not usually lead to hypertrophy/swelling of glands. But there is a mention of allergic reactions to trileptal. Here is an extract from www.trileptal.com about this particular side effect. "......Anaphylaxis and angioedema has been reported.......other allergic reactions. Angioedema is characterized by swelling of the faces, eyes, lips or tongue, or difficulty swallowing or breathing.......
1108262 tn?1273179266 DOES ANY ONE TAKE TRILEPTAL FOR BIPOLAR ??? IF SO HOW MUCH AND FOR HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TAKING IT??
Avatar n tn it sounds like it may be i have had them since my open heart surgery something went wrong, anyway the trileptal is a seizure medication i take it and it has stopped the seizures totally havent had one since Trileptal is in a group of drugs called anticonvulsants, or antiepileptic drugs. It works by decreasing nerve impulses that cause seizures Do not take this medication if you are allergic to oxcarbazepine or to a similar medicine called carbamazepine (Carbatrol, Tegretol).
Avatar m tn What about depecote
1045086 tn?1332126422 "Certain anticonvulsant drugs may be linked to an increased risk of suicidal acts or violent death, according to an analysis of prescriptions and insurance claims data by Boston researchers...." http://www.boston.com/news/health/blog/2010/04/anticonvulsant.html?p1=Well_MostPop_Emailed7 I don't use gabapentin but I know many others here do so I wanted to leave this FYI. I'm NOT suggesting anyone make independent changes with their medications.
1011826 tn?1274492712 From manufacturer's information: oxcarbazepine (Trileptal) is cleared from the body mostly in the form of metabolites which are predominantly excreted by the kidneys. ---This would suggest that drinking lots of fluids could help flush it out of your system. They also suggest withdrawing gradually. Here is an article on withdrawing from psychiatric meds: http://bipolarblast.wordpress.com/2008/05/01/ten-practical-considerations-during-medication-withdrawal/ Good luck!
Avatar f tn Thanks Ruby, you're help a lot. I still don't go to another Cardio for a second opinion but my Neuro prescribed me oxcarbazepine. I had an EEG and thyroid test, my thyroid is fine but the EEG is abnormal, I also have facial twitches sometimes. But I'll try to do what you say.
