I know exactly what the bugs and the nits look and feel like. Please keep this in mind before you jump to conclusions.
About seven years ago, at age 20, I noticed flecks in my hair that weren't coming out like dandruff. I tried to pull them off and they were somewhat stuck to the hair shaft like a lice nit. I had four people check my hair, including my doctor, and no bugs were found. I never experienced itching either.
Fast forward seven years, and I still notice them sometimes.
Head and shoulders does not kill lice.
So I've been having this yellow tube-like things sticking to strands of my hair. My hair is pretty long and very very thick. I think it's head lice, but I NEVER feel the little lice crawling in there, my mom checks my hair on a daily basis very frequently and she sees nothing. I do have dandruff every once in a while though. I admit they do look like head lice nits, but I'm not sure. I think it may be head lice and I'm getting some treatment shampoo tomorrow and trying it.
my head has been itching for a couple months now, and sometimes its tender to hot water, i recently found little bites or something on my neck. i have had it checked for lice several times and it is not lice... i don't know what it may be or how to fix it. i have changed my shampoo, didn't work, if i don't take a shower the very next morning it itches very bad.. when i do wash it , it still itches but not as bad...what do i do? how do i fix it? and most important, WHAT IS IT?

Yes we got more and we're gna do it all again tomorrow. I checked my baby girl's head and I don't see anything and my hubby checked my head and he said he doesn't see anything either. I'm just being paranoid I think. Nesting and having head lice does not mix.
Dirty hair makes it hard for eggs to stay attached ...ewww. I had ppl look at my head like 3-4 times abd my ob ... They saw nothing... So I tried oatmeal bath first for about a week or two, it just made me smell yummy and then tried the head and shoulder itchy scalp and I have been using it almost since 16ish weeks...
Check her hair every day for lice , and look for little black eggs .I think the allergy more likely ..
Yes you can. Head lice is the human flees.. They jump from head to head with just the simple fact of one head sitting next to another. Or picking them up. I am not saying always, but yes usually. No biggie. Plenty of shampoos that are meant for lice. They arent hard to get rid of.. Make sure you wash all your bed sheets, they tend to sometimes linger. Not too long for they need a head to survive..Good luck.
My parents have 2 malteses that I'm taking care of at the moment. They've been itching themselves for about a week now. They'd constantly turn and scratch with their hind legs and lick their paws. It's clear that somethings bothering them. On their skin are rashes. They look like splotches of red dots in random places. I'm wondering what this could be. Or if it could be contagious to humans.
The GP or a chemist could tell u if it is head lice I would think. You would see them crawling around. To me it sounds more like either dandruff or psoriasis.
Hello I am a RN and when my daughter was little she too got head lice. Lice can be an expensive and aggravating problem if the treatment isn't done properly the first time around. I made the same mistakes you have made and also learned the hard way.
You need to treat the child's head with RID or NIX, (I used NIX), again pick out the knits and 4 days later treat her again.
My daughter has head lice for 3 months now. When we first discovred it she had 85 live ones. Now we find about 10 live ones every 2 weeks. I have done 5 treatments. Tons of laundry. Bagged stuffed animals. Check and recheck hair. Vacuum endlessly. It won't go away. My husband, son, and myself do not have it. She is going to camp in a week and needs to be lice free. They will check. Please help. I am at a loss of what to do.

I found some sand like looking dots on my kids head. I thought it was head lice so I got the treatment and the dots are gone. While combing I was picking up some dry skin or was it the lice eggs that looked like a super small oval shape. Now is it lice or just something else. I noticed this 2 weeks ago but thought it was some sand from playing in the sandbox. The black dots comes offf with washing but I noticed some of the oval on my son's head.
I presume the lice you had in your family were head lice. Interestingly, it turns out that head lice are said not to cause pubic hair infections. The head lice attach to hairs on the head using a different sort of pinchers than pubic lice and as a result head lice can only attach to head hair and, conversely, pubic lice can only attach to pubic hair.

U need to clean your blankets and pillows. Anywhere you put ur head like sofa or the head rest in ur car. And lice do not like dirty hair they prefer clean hair. So if you put gel or lots of hair spray they will want to leave because there isn't lots of room to move around. Also you can use the straightener on the hottest setting close to ur roots to kill eggs. But make sure u use a lice treatment to kill live ones.
