Avatar f tn Fasting should be 80-90, 1 hr after eating 120-140, and 2 hrs after eating 100-120. Not sure if that's what you mean or not? Or after the glucose test. I've been using a glucometer to keep track of mine over the course of a week.
Avatar f tn 2 and your on 2mg of Coumadin the Dr will increase it to.. let say 5mg. I thought the lower the number, the thinner the blood. Do I have this Backwords? How can the Dr. determin if you need Warfrin or not?...if you test postive for clotting factors. What is normal range for someone who is not on Coumadin? I don't understand the INR.
Avatar f tn I am a bit clearer now - all tests came back ok except for the blood glucose one which the doc said was not too bad at 6.8 but is now having me do the fasting blood glucose one. She says that a lot of my other symptoms are meno related but has not suggested anything that might help. She has suggested varying my diet more rather than restricting it as I have been doing by avoiding wheat and sugars.
Avatar n tn Are there any chart available for conversion of sugar numbers from mg dl to mmol?
880900 tn?1467270141 A fasting blood sugar is better but would not catch spikes after eating. The standard for diagnosis is an A1C which gives the average blood sugar for a period of 2-3 months. You can also get a glucose meter and test yourself to see what your fasting and 2 hours after meal numbers are on a regular basis.
Avatar f tn No, unfortunately, they are elevated blood sugars.
Avatar f tn What does "watch my diet" mean? 480 is WAY to high that is go to ER way to high. Carbohydrates raise BG. do you "watch your Diet" and eat potato? Potato will raise your BG do you "watch your Diet" and eat rice? rice is carb and will raise BG. do you "watch your Diet" and eat bread? bread is a carb and will raise your BG. sorry but "watch my diet" just pushes my buttons. I have no Idea what it means but every one says it.
Avatar m tn a1c is the average, but it is also important to see the fasting numbers. Sometimes early in diabetes only the fasting numbers may be high, and paying attention to these may give a heads up on taking action. Ideally fasting is < 100 (and even better if it's in the 80s). Normal non-diabetic a1c is < 5.0, though you may not get diagnosed as diabetic until you are 5.7 or higher.
Avatar n tn Most doctors will not just take your word for it, but will need to see what the numbers actually are, so this is why i suggest you making these notes for a week or two before you see your doctor. Then, when you see your doctor, ask him or her if it is appropriate to start adding insulin to your regimen.
Avatar n tn what is the number of blood sugar in the morning afternoon and evening between meals and how many hours after food, thanks
Avatar f tn I am a type II diabetic and I would like to know what is considered a "good" blood sugar reading for me when I test at different times of the day....before meals, after meals, fasting in the morning, at bedtime and other random times during the day.
Avatar m tn You don't say what your numbers are normally, it would help for us to know this. I agree with the doctor, being hypoglycemic for that long would have led to some serious problems. This happens when the body is producing too much insulin, your glucose is being released too slowly into the bloodstream, or your glucose is being used up too quickly.
Avatar m tn it is based on the the amount of sugar stuck to red blood cells and the assumption that red blood cells live 90 days. if YOUR red blood cells live longer then your A1c will be higher.
Avatar n tn I just found out that I'm pregnant, and my blood sugar is literally all over the place. One hour it will be 140, and the next hour it will be 240. I have another week until my endocrinologist appointment, and I am VERY NERVOUS. PLEASE HELP!? What can I do to keep it down until my Dr appointments? I'm limiting my carbs, and excercising. What else can i do?
Avatar n tn You must also realize that we type 1 folks are going to have wide variation at times in blood sugar numbers. The hemoglobin a1c is actually the best overall number to look at, for the average of all the daily glucose tests gives a better picture of whether you are damaging your body or not. An occasional high number is not going to harm you, nor is an occasional low number.
1448460 tn?1284694467 Prednisone does tend to raise your blood sugar and you should do what you can to keep it down as much as possible. You did not mention if you are on insulin or pills or just diet control. Considering you are only taking prednisone for a very short time, you shouldn't have too much to worry about. If your blood sugar is at that level for a longer period of time that may bring about some damage. Exercise more, if possible, definitely drink lots more water and really watch your diet.
