What blood sugar numbers should be

Common Questions and Answers about What blood sugar numbers should be

blood-sugar

Tbd I agree with Sally. Get a meter & check your sugar. Change your diet based on your numbers. Ditch the sugar & detox from sugar it is like a drug. When you detox from sugar you reduce the taste for it but don't return to your bad habits. Get your numbers down, your BMI down (reduce your waist size), lose weight & let dome form of exercise be your norm. If it turns to a diabetic # you will have issues like SF low healing wounds & bruises that take a long time to heal.
Avatar f tn No, unfortunately, they are elevated blood sugars.
Avatar f tn I am a type II diabetic and I would like to know what is considered a "good" blood sugar reading for me when I test at different times of the day....before meals, after meals, fasting in the morning, at bedtime and other random times during the day.
Avatar f tn It really depends if u need insulin or pills, if you cant control your blood sugar then you take pills if your blood sugar is not high. But if normally your fasting numbers are high then thats why they put you on insulin. I have a coworker that went straight to insulin and shes a diabetic now but her numbers were crazy high like in the 500 when she did the glucose test. The doc just prob know that pills wont help you.
Avatar n tn s appointment and write down the numbers that you get on your glucometer. This will give you a record of what your glucose numbers actually are doing all day long and will help your doctor know whether your glucose levels are indeed too high. Most doctors will not just take your word for it, but will need to see what the numbers actually are, so this is why i suggest you making these notes for a week or two before you see your doctor.
1448460 tn?1284694467 Prednisone does tend to raise your blood sugar and you should do what you can to keep it down as much as possible. You did not mention if you are on insulin or pills or just diet control. Considering you are only taking prednisone for a very short time, you shouldn't have too much to worry about. If your blood sugar is at that level for a longer period of time that may bring about some damage. Exercise more, if possible, definitely drink lots more water and really watch your diet.
Avatar n tn what is the number of blood sugar in the morning afternoon and evening between meals and how many hours after food, thanks
Avatar n tn Are there any chart available for conversion of sugar numbers from mg dl to mmol?
Avatar n tn Hopefully my doctor will be the same way I'm going to start watching more of what I eat
Avatar m tn These should then form the basis of your diet Ideally your blood sugar at 2 hours after eating should be close to fasting numbers and normal fasting should be in the 80s (4.3 - 4.6). (multiply your numbers by 18 to convert).
Avatar n tn My bedtime numbers are around 110 but in the morning can be anywhere from 100-130.
Avatar m tn is this level 188-200 fasting high? What should I eat for breakfast with this blood sugar level? I guess pancakes and syrup are out! Has anyone experienced anything like this following a cortisone injection and what did they do and how long did it last? My previous levels before the shot were 115-130 fasting glucose in the morning. Last A1C 6.1. I need some advice.
Avatar m tn HI 48 year old male, 5 feet 8 inches. 164 lbs. Recently had blood test , Blood sugar came back 128m/dl. Doctor has not recommended any medicines . He suggested to exercise and control the diet. Day before the test had a pasta lunch with cola and small pasta fried fish dinner with 2 drinks(alcoholic). dinner complete at 9.00pm. Also had a antidepressant for sleep. Went the next morning for test around 8.am. Is it possible for my test to be wrong given the previous days gluttony.
1090423 tn?1286287650 not sure what that number is in the usa so cant tell how high it is , but you should be watching what you eat, lower your carbs and sugar intake and get lots of execrise in, if over weight lose some that helps a lot. good luck, i to am trying to do all of thoses lol.
1058898 tn?1275675151 Your doctor is uninformed and irresponsible to be allowing your blood sugar to go so high without advising you to do anything. As Zoelula said, it is your health. It is up to you. Get yourself educated and get it under control. Else there will be consequences. This is the plain and ugly, but necessary truth!
Avatar f tn Can someone tell me how high your blood sugar should get before you become alarmed or call the doctor? I have not been diagnosed but a few months and my doctor has not told me much of nothing. My sugar keeps going up and down, my doctor won't put me on medicine(the highest its been is 400+, the lowest 60) Thanks for your help!!!
Avatar f tn Your metformin and glipicide are not working. Aft this point you need to be on insulin. This should be basal-bolus type regime with both long and short acting insulin. Go back to your Dr. If you're doctor won't purr you on insulin and manage your diabetes mute aggressively you need a brew Dr. Eating very low carb (low carb, moderate protein, fat to appetite) will be very helpful. Bottom line.
Avatar n tn I just found out that I'm pregnant, and my blood sugar is literally all over the place. One hour it will be 140, and the next hour it will be 240. I have another week until my endocrinologist appointment, and I am VERY NERVOUS. PLEASE HELP!? What can I do to keep it down until my Dr appointments? I'm limiting my carbs, and excercising. What else can i do?
Avatar n tn I agree with the previous posting. Normal pre-meal blood sugar levels should be between 70-146, according to most articles I have read. However, even healthy people can find that blood sugar levels rise above this occasionally if they eat high-glucose foods. In your case, the high reading COULD (mere speculation here) be due to having the hypoglycemic episode before you ate the candy bar.
452066 tn?1400626877 I really have no idea if there can be a connection but if you want to check glucose levels you should do fasting and two hours after a meal. Normal fasting should be under a 100 (diabetic is over 126). Normal postprandial would be under 120. Just an off the cuff question about your arrythmia after meals. Do you also have symptoms of acid reflux?
Avatar n tn s husband did a comparison test and his number was normal at 86 would seem to indicate that the machine is NOT giving false numbers. Her blood sugar probably really IS that high, and this is extremely dangerous -- could be life-threatening. It really is imperative that she have a true lab test done to see if there really is a blood sugar problem. She could do a glucose test in the lab to compare the number with the number that the lab gets if she thinks that her machine is in error.
