1194973 tn?1385507504 It's weird what I get and I'm not even sure if they are anxiety attacks. My chest starts to hurt really bad and it's like a stabbing pain, and I feel like I can't breathe. Whenever I try to it feels like there's huge bands around my chest that prevent me from taking in a breath. I also start to hyperventilate and shake and just overall feel weak--like I'm getting over a flu. Normally they only happen when I'm upset, but lately they've just been happening out of nowhere.
Avatar n tn Anxiety attacks, are by their very nature, the body's fear response. The fearful idea is what is missing from the equation, and that's what you have to discover to really get over this. Medications can help, but they only suppress this further. I would strongly suggest that you see a therapist with the very specific goal of discovering the internal fear idea tha tis causing this problem..When you do that, it will stop.

As for pain when your in labor you can get many different pain medications so don't sweat it, your body nows what it's doing. Good luck! I'm due in 6 days!

Avatar f tn but the clonidine would help either way... if you truly think you are having anxiety or panic attacks you may need something else, but beware, a lot of them are addictive. i know there are some anti-depressants that are used for anxiety, and a med called buspar, also non-addictive. but DONT ignore it...

565874 tn?1234567191 Namaste, As I stated in another one of your posts it is difficult to even make a guess concerning your headaches since you haven't mentioned what, if any, disorder(s) you have been diagnoised with and whether of not you are on any medications. And, if you are on medications, how long have you been taking them and which ones are they?

Avatar m tn I know exactly how you feel! I'm glad you found this place too, I just found it today! I have panic attacks & ended up in the ER twice within 3 days 5 years ago. Finally the ER nurse identified that I was having panic attacks & called my doc herself to get me Xanax because the medication they prescribed me the day before would take atleast 1-2 weeks to work!
Avatar f tn This is at the heart of many anxiety attacks, phobias, etc. If you ask a person why it is they are phobic of spiders for instance, they can't tell you from a logical standpoint.....they'll tell you that they know intellectually that it is a little spider that really can't do much to a full size human being, but that kind of logic won't matter, and they will develop an irrational fear they can't explain.
Avatar f tn It does sound like classic anxiety and panic attacks. What's funny about anxiety is that you really have no idea when it will strike and it is usually when you feel everything is fine. It sounds like you have had everything checked out thoroughly so have you thought about asking to speak to a therapist? I know it stinks being on meds, but if you need them now, it doesn't mean you will need them forever. My anxiety started after the birth of my 2nd daughter.

Avatar f tn But medication is usually a last resort and they will prescribe you meds that are safe for you and the baby. Anxiety attacks are no joke while being pregnant it stresses the baby out because he/she knows you are not feeling well so being as calm as possible will always make it pass a lot faster. I hope my advice works & good luck.

Avatar n tn At this point, it couldn't hurt to go back to the link I provided and run through the list again. Panic and anxiety are physical disorders like diabetes or sickle cell anemia, and having these conditions has no moral implications. It's just a bad throw of the genetic dice, and one does not get to choose where it comes to inheritance. The sensible thing to do now is consult the right specialist, which in this case is a shrink who specializes in anxiety.
Avatar m tn I recently lost alot of weight too quickly as a result of dieting and my wife has just given birth, so perhaps these are part-reasons for my anxiety. What I would like to know is why I seem to have this persistent cough, the 'tickly' mucous and a feeling I am about to have breathing/ panic attacks (which seem to start at the larynx). I had such 'asthma-like' breathing attacks a couple of years ago and do not want to have them again.
Avatar n tn Yes, it sounds like a panic disorder to me. What is making you feel this way? What are you worrying about?
Avatar f tn Seeing how you said that you have been diagnosed with anxiety and depression, it sure sounds alot like a panic/anxiety attack to me. What you are describing is what happens during one of these; that is why they often refer to it as panic attacks. Panic and anxiety are definately interelated in my opinion.
Avatar m tn I was just wondering, what might be the cause of the reason, why Panic/Anxiety attacks are so evident on my face? Its almost as if the muscle in my face, seize up completely when I'm having an attack. Is there some kind of chemical in the body, that regulates and controls the signs of stress and anxiety on the face?
Avatar n tn my sister is having what seems like an emotional breakdown, and has gone to the er twice in this week, her potassium level was 2.7 last night, can her potassium level have anything to do with anxiety attacks?
Avatar f tn This sounds like anxiety but you need to see your doctor for an evaluation. If this is anxiety/panic attacks, know they won't hurt you. Most of us at some point are/were fearful of an attack while driving or alone. Panic attacks are a normal response coming at the wrong time. It's our "fight or flight" mode which kicks in when we are in danger, and floods our bodies with adrenaline so we can fight or run to protect ourselves.
Avatar f tn Again, the cold shocks the mind out of the anxiety. Here are some tips to prevent the anxiety and or panic attacks. Stay away from caffine, as a rule, it is the MAIN reason people suffer from anxiety disorder and panic disorder. Surround yourself with comedy whenever you start to feel off.
