The most common side effects with WELLBUTRIN XL are weight loss, loss of appetite, dry mouth, skin rash, sweating, ringing in the ears, shakiness, stomach pain, agitation, anxiety, dizziness, trouble sleeping, muscle pain, nausea, fast heartbeat, sore throat, and urinating more often.
Seizures may occur (studies showed an incidence of 1/1000 - 4/1000). The chances of having seizures increases with higher doses. Taking more than 450 mg/day increases the chance of serious side effects.
My dr, said she looked it up in her book, and Wellbutrin XL 150mg, is only prescribed for SAD and to quit smoking. She did not want to prescribe the XL at all no mater what I said. She prescribed me Regular Wellbutrin 100mg twice per day. I do not want the regular wellbutrin as it will make me shakey, and I will not follow through with taking 2 pills per day...
long story short...zoloft definitely seemed to be the weight gain culprit for me...but I think wellbutrin is either helping me lose weight or recharging my metabolism! Yay!
About 5 months ago my doctor put me on citalopram which made me feel like a zombie and I started gaining weight so we decided to switch to the wellbutrin. I have been on the wellbutrin for about 7 weeks now and off the citalopram for a little over 1 week. Im having a completely different experience than I did before. No dry mouth or weight loss instead headaches, ringing in my ears, clenched jaw, continued weight gain and irritability.
but will switch to centrum silver for my daily vitamin. Did it stop the hair loss while you were still on Wellbutrin or did you just get off Wellbutrin to stop it?
I know that the higher the dose, the more side effects. I'm hoping that just reducing the dose will help.
m glad you are pursuing the physical for the weight loss. You absolutely have to rule that out first and then deal with the mental aspect of it. When I lost weight it was because I had no desire to eat and nothing had any flavor to me. Hopefully you have another appt with the psychologist. There is nothing to be afraid of. People shake and cry uncontrollably but the more familiar you get with this person, the better you will feel. Keep us posted.
My psych dr just prescribed wellbutrin xl twice a day for me bacause I felt like it wore off really bad around 4 int he afternoon. So I take it at 7 am and then at 3 pm to ward of that awful LOW feeling later. 150 mg each time. Total 300 mg for the 24 hrs. Hope this works.
I started off on 150 mg generic Wellbutrin XL which was not doing much...so I was upped to 300 mg. The sweating is unbelievable! I wake up in the morning drenched. My doc and pharmacist both say it is a side effect of the Wellbutrin and that it should go away. It's been 3 weeks now and I am still sweating a lot! I take mine at night because I don't want it to affect my sleep. Although I see a lot of people take it morning...so I don't if I should be taking it at night .
Celexa is a good antidepressant, I am also on Celexa with 300mg of Effexor XL and have had good success. The valium 5 mg. is also a low dosage. Normally Valium is given for short term treatment of anxiety because it is addicting. My guess is he will eliminate the Valium eventually and increase her other meds. I am no doctor but this is my guess. It sounds like she has a p-doc that will attack her depression agressively and that is goodthing..get it out'a here!

I just saw a new doctor and he believes the Citalopram is causing my weight gain. I have been on it for about 18 months. I am now taking half a pill of Citalopram in order to wean myself off of it. My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!
I have been on Lexapro for a few years with no weight gain. You need to give it time to build up in your system and if after 4-6 weeks you're not feeling better, contact your doctor. They always start us out on a low dosage which usually has to be increased at some point to be therapeutic for us. Unfortunately, it is often trial and error as to what will work for eack of us as we all react differently to these types of medications. Once you find the right one, it is well worth it!

I am on seroquel and abilify, and so far they havent caused any weight gain for me, or weight loss! I was on geodon at one point to, but that was a nightmare! You will have to sit back, and see what happens. If you really dont want the weight gain, then exercising should definitely help! I cant say for sure either, what the result will be!
I've been on wellbutrin xl for a few months now and i stopped taking it for a month and then i realized i hadn't gotten my period so i figured it was a chemical in balance, i'm taking it now and my period is still late. Is it normal or not?
t work that fast but its worth the wait. I cant say for sure that Wellbutrin caused any weight loss for me because I had already lost 35 pounds in a year by not eating fast food 3 times a day, learning about nutrition, paying attention to calories and portion control, eating slower, never eating until I felt full, using smaller plates, never depriving myself of anything as long as I only ate a little of it and I never worked out.
Can you please tell me if Wellbutrin XL will help with anxiety issues. Or can the medication Cymbalta be of better use?
