Welchol problems

Common Questions and Answers about Welchol problems

welchol

401016 tn?1201451802 I would assume they're giving you welchol for diarrhea and the Ami for GI spasms. This is a combination that is given to many (or combinations like it) when someone is experiencing unexplained abdominal pain (perhaps due to spasms) and diarrhea. Ami is used fairly frequently in GI problems, so don't consider it a 'head med.' It is, but in this case it's probably being used to work on the receptors in your GI tract - not your head, although it will do that, too.
Avatar m tn Have the $5 copay card on Repatha (wife is on too and has no problems and had less but still too many problems on statins) but we go on medicare in a year and then the $5 copay card turns into $150-$400 per month. Will keep her on, cause her numbers are VERY bad and I will probably go back to Welchol and zetia, for what it is worth.
Avatar f tn It turned out to be the welchol I had started on to decrease my cholesterol. I felt bloated, constipated, a little dizzy and a fast heart rate every late afternoon and evening. I was very fatigued and just felt lousy all over. I have to admit that the pressure feeling in the esophagus was the scarriest.
Avatar n tn I did not have any problems until then. I suffered with IBS for years until my Gastro doctor put me on Welchol and it is wonderful I take 3 pills a day and I can get anything I want and I don't have any IBS episodes anymore. I am not afraid to go out anywhere anymore. But I have another problem.
Avatar n tn t find the right medicine...Lipitor caused severe muscle weakness, Zetia caused all kind of digestive problems and Pravachol zapped my energy...my count actually went up 30 points while taking WelChol! My doctor is telling me that I have no other choices of medicine to lower my count (total 285, HDL 106 VLDL 21, LDL 188, Triglycerids 106.) My sister is having the same problem so I guess this problem is a family thing. I am really troubled by my doctor's lack of concern.
Avatar f tn I have an answer for you. I too had my GB out, and soon after had the same symptoms. I DIAGNOSED IT myself....not much initial help from the gastro MD. It is called "biliary diarrhea". It's fairly common, surprisingly. Apparantly has no reflection on the quality of the surgery (I had the short cut method). However, good news: I've beern able to control it, for which I do give gastro MD credit....The cholesterol drug Welchol. Without it I'd be housebound!
Avatar n tn Ask your doctor about Welchol; it's a cholesterol medicine that binds bile salts. I had mine taken out in February of last year and tried to "tough it out," but after a doctor put me on Welchol, I rarely ever get sick after eating.
Avatar n tn You may want to ask the doc if he can try a bile binding resin like questran or somehting like Welchol. There's also the possibility that calcium could help. But it has to be in a specific form and take ant specific times of the day. Google 'lnape and calcium,' and look at the information provided. The contraindication would be if he has a history of kidney stones or parathyroid problems.
Avatar n tn Any possibility of food intolerance issues? Anyone in the family with celiac problems - gluten-intolerance, or other?
Avatar f tn I am curious if you tried cholestramine or welchol pills for detox? I use the welchol because I can't drink liquid meds.
Avatar f tn You may want to consider following a very low fat diet and see if that helps. Many people are unable to process fats the way they did before the surgery and it may take awhile to make an adjustment. If you can't get the diarreha under control, you may want to talk to your doc about using a bile-binding resin like questran or a product like Welchol.
Avatar f tn I do have to urinate a lot too. I was taking cholesterol medication (Welchol) and Cosamine DS for back pain. I stopped taking it last week but I still have the pain. It subsides for a while and then starts again almost like contractions. What is wrong with me? I have been trying to eat the right things like salads, veggies, chicken , turkey, no mayo or fats, only whole grain products.
Avatar n tn I take (2) 500mg of metformin at breakfast and supper. I also take powder welchol at supper. I would like to take my 1000mg of Januvia at bedtime to help lower my morning blood sugar readings that usually run in the 150's to 160, Any cons to taking the Januvia without food at bedtime?
Avatar m tn the first two times, there were a few blockages - 10, 18 and 20% The last time was in December 2013 with a different cardiologist (I moved across the state) and he said I had NO blockages at all. HUH??? My lipid profiles are still horrible even with medications. Pravacol, Tricor and Welchol. His answer for this question was: "Those medications took the blockages away." Of course, I am no doctor but this seems funny to me.
255722 tn?1452546541 Now I am following Burascanos protocol for Barts, which is levaquin and welchol for detox, I am having problems with the welchol so had to cut back. My idea is so many LLMD's try so many different protocols it is just a matter of luck. What works for some may not work for others.
Avatar f tn and he prescribe welchol. This is the first medicine I have tried that I have taken more then two weeks, I started taking the meds in Oct. of 2008 and stop taking it of Feb. 2008.When the doctor told me to increase the doseage from 2 tables twice a day to 2 tablets 3 times a day each 650mg I believe. I started to get sharp pains through out my head and also like a burning sensation and also I feel like a coldness on my right side.
1139187 tn?1355706647 I have about 600 welchol tablets that my insurance company accidently over-sold me. I cant take this medication any longer. It was prescribed to me because of gallbladder removal. Can I do anything with this medication since I will not be taking it? Its in 3 huge , sealed bottles.
Avatar n tn I should be betw 175 and 180. I had no weight problems or any other problems with the bag. I am now just beginning to try Welchol and probiotics with no immediate good results as with the Cipro. I do work in a clinical lab and have full acess to micro dept. Anybody have any experimental ideas? This discussion is related to J-Pouch reversal.
Avatar m tn I got diagnosed with mold illness about a year and a half ago, and I am sure those with mold problems will read this and understand all of what it entails. I moved out of a moldy environment and completely moved states and into a new one. Two weeks after moving states I started running fevers on and off that always reached 99.9 and never went higher than that.
Avatar m tn Due to the chemo, the excessive vomiting and family history I have GERD. I take neium daily and have for about 8 years. I also have a lot of colon problems from family history. I had a colonoscopy done a year ago because I was having 6-8 BM's a day and they were really loose. They didnt see anything of much concern. They attributed it to my eating habits and the fact I had my gall bladder removed in 2005. The doc prescribed Welchol and Cantil to do what my gall bladder is supposed to do.
Avatar n tn I had my gallbladder removed over a year ago. I have the same problem. I have found that a old cure for this type of problem that a Aunt has used for years is simple flour and water. I mix 2 tsps of plain flour in a little warm water stir till no lumps and drink it down in a gulp. Has worked wonders for me no more problem.
Avatar n tn I have the same problem, been 3 years now. Imodium helps tremendously as does Welchol. I also have to avoid fried foods. Meals high in protein and fiber are easier on my stomach.
Avatar f tn s, a heital hernia, scar tissue adhesions from a hysterectomy in 2000, and numerous other stomach problems most of my life. In February 2010, I became extremely ill, and doctors at first believed I had "food poisoning." I was placed on steroids, but continued to have bloody diarhhea, severe abdominal cramping and left side pain and upper right rib pain.
Avatar n tn I have diabetes well controlled by januvia. I take welchol as i developed rhabdomyolysis with vytorin. I had been also on plavix. 1. Is stenting the subclavian a frequent procedure? 2. How long will this stent stay in place? 3. If there is blocking again in the future of this stent what are the options?
Avatar n tn re daughter is experiencing is anywhere near normal, but the sad truth is there can be problems after GB surgery that an take awhile to settle down. But she should be evaluated for remaining sludge/stones. It can be residual, but some people can also make it 'anew.' If she hasn't had a full CBC with liver and pancreatic enzyme levels done, request it. And the best time to have the liver/pancreatic enzymes levels done is within 12 hours of having a really bad bout of pain.
