Welchol muscle weakness

Common Questions and Answers about Welchol muscle weakness

welchol

Avatar n tn t find the right medicine...Lipitor caused severe muscle weakness, Zetia caused all kind of digestive problems and Pravachol zapped my energy...my count actually went up 30 points while taking WelChol! My doctor is telling me that I have no other choices of medicine to lower my count (total 285, HDL 106 VLDL 21, LDL 188, Triglycerids 106.) My sister is having the same problem so I guess this problem is a family thing. I am really troubled by my doctor's lack of concern.
Avatar m tn Can anyone explain to me why I still had a heart attack even while taking the following meds atenenol 50mg bid, HCTZ 25mg daily, zetia 40mg daily, plavix 25mg daily, welchol 625mg bid. Also what is the chance of a second heart attack My Aortic Valve, Tricuspid Valve, and my Mitral Valve are failing because they are stenotic and regurgitative. The Aortic valve is in the worst shape of the three they tell me. I have psoriatic arthritis and ankolosing spondylitis. all joints are involved.
5759924 tn?1374704061 Been looking for answers for over a year now as to why my muscle weakness has not subsided. My muscle weakness is generalized, my arms, legs, neck, and back. First noticed the weakness when I was washing my hair in the shower, I could barely hold my arms up without feeling over exerted. It all started with lymph node swelling in the left posterior and supraclavicular regions in my neck. The swelling lasted for 5 months so my ENT had one biopsied.

Avatar f tn The short answer is that all of the above - hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, or other can all cause muscle weakness. Muscle weakness in the muscles you are talking about feeling weakness in, like from pushups (triceps, deltoids, maybe biceps and trapezius) are associated with hypo and hyperthyroidism though, so I think you're on the right track to look in to your thyroid hormone level as a cause, but I can't say it is definitely one of those, or which one it is.
Avatar m tn Hi iam 30 a week ago my body stated twiching and muscle weakness had MRI blood drawn nothing what is happening but a week ago I was strong no symptoms than this what is this please help
Avatar f tn One of my major symptoms is muscle weakness. I wish I knew more about what causes muscle weakness, as some days it isn't as bad as others. Anyhow, I don't think that most people understand that fibro & CFS patients can have this symptom. So I thought I would ask others here.... do you also have muscle weakness and if so... where ? I have it in both legs.
877337 tn?1249844450 I've read that the thyroid can effect the muscle, giving weakness. My questions are these: Can the thyroid affect the hand? For instance, if I am doing a repetitive movement or holding something for a long moment, would the cramp I am experiencing be related to the thyroid situation? Yes, this has happened in the past but more so or quicker recently.
Avatar n tn can someone explain the symptom called muscle weakness? I have been experienceing this i think. I had an MRI and it came back normal but I continue to have this weak muscle feeling in all 4 limbs. It doesn't, however, affect my strength level...it's just a sensation. So how do you describe the term "muscle weakness" when reading about MS symtoms. Thank you.
1523516 tn?1330044257 Hi Guys, I had asked this question in the middle of another post so I wanted to be sure it was seen. Those of you diangosed with MS. Do you get muscle weakness? It's really starting to affect me. The muscles in my arms and legs get really weak, especially on my left side. It's hard to hold my hair dryer and fix my hair, getting harder to walk up steps, sometiems just across the room, etc. Some days are much better than others.
Avatar m tn I have been having intermittement muscle weakness and joint pain for about 2 months now. Have had a spinal tap (negative) and two MRIs - some lesions seen but neuro says they are "insignificant". MS has been ruled out. The only blood tests that have come back abnormal are for active epstein-barr, vitamin d deficiency (level is 10), thyroid underactive and cortisol underactive. I am extremely exhausted and anxious alot of the time.
Avatar f tn It turned out to be the welchol I had started on to decrease my cholesterol. I felt bloated, constipated, a little dizzy and a fast heart rate every late afternoon and evening. I was very fatigued and just felt lousy all over. I have to admit that the pressure feeling in the esophagus was the scarriest.
401016 tn?1201451802 I would assume they're giving you welchol for diarrhea and the Ami for GI spasms. This is a combination that is given to many (or combinations like it) when someone is experiencing unexplained abdominal pain (perhaps due to spasms) and diarrhea. Ami is used fairly frequently in GI problems, so don't consider it a 'head med.' It is, but in this case it's probably being used to work on the receptors in your GI tract - not your head, although it will do that, too.
Avatar n tn But sometimes this muscle twitching appears as atrophy and weakness of muscle as well. Most likely cause of this twitching with weakness/atrophy of muscle can be when the nerve supplying to the muscles are not functioning properly due to any neurological disorder. If you suffer continuous weakness and notice reduced strength of muscle bulk in areas, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here. Hope this information proves helpful to you.
Avatar f tn I have an answer for you. I too had my GB out, and soon after had the same symptoms. I DIAGNOSED IT myself....not much initial help from the gastro MD. It is called "biliary diarrhea". It's fairly common, surprisingly. Apparantly has no reflection on the quality of the surgery (I had the short cut method). However, good news: I've beern able to control it, for which I do give gastro MD credit....The cholesterol drug Welchol. Without it I'd be housebound!
Avatar n tn Ask your doctor about Welchol; it's a cholesterol medicine that binds bile salts. I had mine taken out in February of last year and tried to "tough it out," but after a doctor put me on Welchol, I rarely ever get sick after eating.
Avatar f tn can muscle weakness start suddenly?(over a few days and lasting several weeks so far) if so why? what does it mean if it is persistant and seems to be worsening? should you worry if the weakness is affecting your breathing(exhausting to breath sometimes)? no pain to speak of other than from fatigued muscles-especially when breathing is affected (and other chronic aches and pains) when trying to do tasks and cant beat the fatigue.
Avatar n tn Approximately 9 weeks after my first child, I began having difficulty getting up from chairs, taking stairs, carrying my newborn and having muscle weakness in the legs, hands, arms, and back. I've been evaluated for MS, MG, PD, Wilsons, Thyroid problems, electrolytes abnormalities, EMGs, Neuroassessments, etc. I'm at the Mayo clinic as I write and have been informed by the specialists that I do not have a neuromuscular disorder.
