Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with irritable bowel after suffering with pain and constipation for years. I also suffer badly with wind. I have been taking fybogel mebeverine twice a day and peppermint capsules for the past 4 months.I track my fibre intake, and ensure I have a minimum of 27g per day. I am an adult female, I exercise several times a week and consider my diet to be quite healthy. The pain isn't as frequent but im still constipated most of the time. Does anyone have any advice please?
Avatar n tn I am overweight. For the past 18 months I have been plauged with an irritable bowel. I have bowel motions 5-8 times per day. My stools are always loose and often bright yellow. I have cramps and gas and often after passing still have the feeling of needing to go. When I need to go, I NEED TO GO! and there is no way I can wait.
401016 tn?1201451802 I would assume they're giving you welchol for diarrhea and the Ami for GI spasms. This is a combination that is given to many (or combinations like it) when someone is experiencing unexplained abdominal pain (perhaps due to spasms) and diarrhea. Ami is used fairly frequently in GI problems, so don't consider it a 'head med.' It is, but in this case it's probably being used to work on the receptors in your GI tract - not your head, although it will do that, too.
Avatar n tn I did not have any problems until then. I suffered with IBS for years until my Gastro doctor put me on Welchol and it is wonderful I take 3 pills a day and I can get anything I want and I don't have any IBS episodes anymore. 223237 tn?1302188391 Depo-medrol is excellent for the management of IBS in kitties. You do need to keep a close eye on her for signs of diabetes, as steroids do tend to cause diabetes after extended use , however cats are MUCH more tolerant of steroids than dogs are, and most of them respond well to the depo-medrol when it comes to the IBS.

Avatar n tn My mother has ovarian-omentum cancer. She is having chemotherapy and has had one treatment so far. She has either constipation or diarrhea. She was told to take a laxative called Senacot if she hasn't had a bowel movement for 2 days. But the laxative gives her stomach cramps. Are there foods she should be avoiding? What else can she do besides take the laxative?

Avatar n tn My 12 year old daughter for the past couple months, has been having many bowel movements, as many as 8 a day and most of time it is either soft stool or diearerra. The past few days she has had a white substance in her stool as well. It almost looks like a long piece of cotton. I am very concerned about this and have never seen anything like it. She complains often of stomach aches. She is 12 and weighs 61 pounds. Any advice or help you could give me on this would be most appreciated.
Avatar f tn generic can be found in the pharmacy section of stores like Walmart) every day for irritable bowel syndrome. It is called a bulk-forming laxative, so it is supposed to be good both for bulk forming when you are having diarrhea and for constipation because of the fiber's laxative effects. I also was prescribed Bentyl for a time- you may want to ask your doctor if that would be right for you or not.
Avatar f tn ve been on Welchol for lose to twenty years now, but now (after having thyroid gland removed due to follicular cancer at the end of last year), I'm having the exact same symptoms taking the Welchol tablets as you described (I thought it might have been dyspagia brought on by the Levothyroxine I'm forced to take now). 1259039 tn?1269939877 A gastroenterologist should be consulted to rule out Inflammatory bowel disease which consists of a number of conditions namely Celiac Disease/Ulcerative Colitis/Irritable Bowel Syndrome/ Crohn’s disease/Lactose intolerance. All are different problems and if no confirmatory diagnosis is reached, then it is called as Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Avatar f tn Thanks, CalGal, It's a good idea. I had a consultation with a Dr. Said, naturopath, who is the one who got me off gluten, dairy, etc. That really helped my energy level and I have not been sick with a virus since then, last July, a record for me. I understand 70% of our immune system is in our intestinal tract so I'm thinking this may explain my new found immunity. But, to answer your question, he did send me probiotics which I took.

Avatar f tn Have you tried Welchol? Its actually a cholesterol drug but my doctor prescribed it for the side effects, he said it acts as "kitty litter". So it might be worth checking into. Also, for pain, I'm surprised your doctor hasn't mentioned the Fentnyl patch, which will not be affected by your issues because its absorbed through your skin, not your stomach. Good luck!
